Avatar n tn Is your son taking only clonidine? Are there any other problems in addition to the ADHD and tic disorder? Does he display any voacl tics in addition to the motor tics? You'll want to rule out Tourette's Disorder. Since you are close to Chicago, it would be worthwhile to have him undergo a thorough evaluation in both neurology and child psychiatry at Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago. You will not likely find much, if any, benefit from alterations of his diet.
Avatar m tn I went back to Valium 3 months later. My anxiety and depression has increased to the point of being in bed for the past month. I am in pain from herniated discs and a hip problem. However, in an attempt to feel better, I take more oxycodone. It no longer works. I was raped for 1year, approx, by this guy so I could get my medicine. I blame myself, even though he took advantage of my vulneranilities and knowledge of my situation.
Avatar f tn I have been waiting for an appointment to see a psychiatrist since having a short stay in hospital last October. I finally got an appointment for next month. I really want to get as much as possible from my time with the doctor but I am very worried that it will not be of any help as previous doctors haven't really been much use either. I feel they never listen to me. I really don't feel that much is ever fully explained to me and I want to know what they are going to do to help me.

Avatar m tn I took Clonidine for several days during detox. It really did make a difference in helping with my withdrawl symptoms. Helped to keep me calmer and in my skin. I also had a few tranzene that I took ( I cut them in halves ) . These two things along with the Immodium and otc pain meds were a hugh help for me.
Avatar f tn Be careful not to think more is better because you will just drop your blood pressure and end up in the ER or worse. Clonidine is a blood pressure medication but is known to ease WD in very small dosages. Ok if prescribed by your doctor. I like patch better because you will not try to take more to make you feel better, Good luck..
10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
Avatar f tn My doc sent it in to the pharmacy to help with the WDs I am now having. I am reluctant to dd in any other pills, but I need some relief. Any experience with this drug? Side effects? Does it actually do anything? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have info on Clonidine? My daughter is in Medical detox and they are giving her this during her detox. I'm just wondering if it is another addictive drug or if it is just an aid in the detoxification. I would assume they wouln't give her something addictive but you never know.
Avatar f tn Way to go day ten!!! Clonidine does help so much during detoxing. I am glad you got in to your doctor quickly. I am happy to hear your not crying as much. Your on the downside of this now. In a few days this will all be over. Have a beautiful Sunday.........
656243 tn?1231288052 It all makes sense but I think one thing we should be careful of here is when we use the term "doctor". Some people feel more comfortable referring to a psychiatrist as a doctor and a psychiatrist is of course a medical professional but some people don't have good health insurance and a standard physician prescribes their psychiatric medications which is not advisable.
Avatar f tn I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?
198154 tn?1337787265 s but only a caring doctor will give it, most would rather see you suffer....i took .1 mg of clonidine 3 times daily...worked tremendously well...if taking clonidine will help get you off your d.o.c.,...take it as your doctor has prescribed it...regardless of what you think MIGHT happen...it does help more than i can describe, i think it is a miracle drug for wd's. i took it for 10 days, then tapered for 3, it is not addictive, but you have to taper to avoid rebound high BP...
Avatar f tn in the morning so did not stay on it...neurontine would help wds in many ways///and it is a safe drug...clonidine is not truly addictive in the sense we speak of...but a drug that can cause emergency situations..... Ur total oxy dose was 110 mgs daily...again..low BP is a concern with the clonidine and patches can not be controlled as they continually release/pill form can be more easily controlled as u can skip a dose if ur BP is low.....this is sumpin u need to refer to ur dr...
Avatar m tn Clonidine definitely works but you will feel very tired at first.
Avatar n tn I know addiction psychiatry is a sub specialty of sorts in the world of psychiatry. Anyone know of anyone really good in the St. Louis area? Who can also deal with the additional issues of anxiety, depression, PTSD and whatever baseline personality disorder he has ? Thanks for the help!
Avatar m tn My doctor tried all the drugs you see on TV and in the end I am taking 10mg oxy 3 times a day and .1mg of clonidine 4 times a day. I have tried going a day only taking one of the drugs but only get relief by taking both. While still being on oxy is not the best I did reduce my intake. I was on 30mg oxy 4 to 5 times a day at my highest dose.
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn Clonidine stimulates central alpha-adrenergic receptors which result in a decrese in your sympathetic nervous system. This will help to keep your heart rate down, anxiety reduced and will almost eliminate the cold sweats. I have used it befor and am currently taking it as we speak. I take 0.1mg every eight hours. For acute W/D you can take 0.2mg every eight hours. but not for more that 10 days. you should taper off the last 2 days. i know you have the patch but it is the same drug.
Avatar f tn Does any1 knw how long you usually have to stay on clonidine after getting off opiates? And am I still considered in detox even tho its bn twelve days?
Avatar f tn It is a medication for high blood pressure but lots of people use it to help with opiate withdrawals, so it depends. What did the doctor say about why they gave them to you? Are you w/ding from opiates? or do you have high blood pressure? What milligram of clonodine did the doc give you?
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist said you can take it in two doses. I know you can take armour and cytomel in two doses, but I e never heard this about t4 meds.
Avatar m tn It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?
