880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn Tring to quit Clonidine, buts so hard..i keep getting night (the worst) sweats, and day is terrible too..Here in Brazil everything works different.Clonidine is sold over the counter, and we have no pharmacists to help. Also the docs dont have experience in this, because of the low abuse rate, because we dont have heroin here..Only pain meds, that are seldom prescribed. And i was unfortunate to have a bad doctor that only upped my opioids and is not helping now with the clonidine.
Avatar f tn one more thing....i've NEVER heard of clonidine being given as a remedy for night sweats....and believe me, i've done from doctor to doctor and done months and months of research from about january to may, when i was at my worst, post surgery....if you truly are having hormonal issues, fluctuating hormones, some perimenopausal symptoms, there are TONS of things out there that can help....but taking clonidine is not something that's typically prescribed OR recommended....
Avatar n tn after my hysterectomy 2 years ago i have hot flashes and night sweats it is severe i have tried everthing at the wal mart pharmacy over the counter nothing is working im going crazy pls help me on wat to do
417564 tn?1287982827 I just spoke with Steven and there is someone he works with sending clonidine home for us. I realize we should be under a dr.'s care but we aren't. 1. Can we both take it? 2. 1 per night, correct? Could we 1/2 one tonight, would that help? 3. Is there a reason we should not use this?
Avatar f tn I posted this in my long long post about opioid withdrawals but no luck so I thought I would do a new thread.... I am coming off percocet 7.5\325 2 - 5 x a day and oxy 20 mg 2 - 3 x a day for the past couple years. I have a script for clonidine .1 which isn't doing much so I called my regular doc and he is going to put me on Klonopin ( Dosage unknown until I get script tomorrow). From what I can tell these are 2 totally different drugs. Has anyone used Klonopin for opioid withdrawls?
Avatar m tn If you have a doc phoning in scrips I would suggest asking for clonidine-I am still freezing but it helps with the sweats. If you are going to go to the health store grab some B6 and B12 vitamins, potassium, and magnesium-they all help with mental function if you have to go back to work. Take care of yourself. Hugs.
Avatar f tn I had went into a detox center for 6 days but now it has been 13 days and I still have the sweats and rapid pulse. When does it stop? What should I do? They have me clonidine .1 mg I am going to quit that med. I was on it for the 6 days then I went home and felt bad, I went three days without the clonidine then I had some from before so started taking that, now it has been 13 days and still have sweats and rapid pulse about 90. Is this normal for detoxing? Dr.
Avatar f tn OMG, i am going through the same thing, i am on day 6 clean. I can't go into any store very long and it certainly isn't helping my insomnia. I have been looking for tips on this as well, but im thinking we are just gonna have to sweat it out, so to speak. LOL. By the way, congrats on day 7!!
Avatar f tn ok thank you what ic clondine?
Avatar n tn Thanks for Your response, I heard clonidine help with w/d, has anyone had any success?
Avatar f tn Is the night sweats lasting for one day without fever cause for concern? I know forum is full of worried wells, and I am most likely one of them, unfortunately I made the mistake of googling "Night sweats no fever" and the first thing that pops up is .. well .. you know. I know this is more anxiety based than anything and I shouldn't be combing my body with a fine tooth comb, but I would like some input as I plan to be tested soon anyway as part of my yearly.
Avatar f tn I had nigh sweats long before I knew what thyroid medication was, so for me, the sweats are, for sure, not a side effect of the thyroid med. For over 12 yrs, my doctor kept telling me they were menopause -- sorry, no way I could buy that; I had a hysterectomy in 1996, which meant instant menopause and I know effects don't last for 12 yrs. My previous doctor finally acknowledged that, but wasn't interested enough to try to find a cause.
Avatar f tn To my understanding nights sweats are a product of a fever, right? Can you have night sweats without a fever? If so would non-fever night sweats relate to HIV still? Also how do you know if your having a fever at night? in the past when I had a night sweat, I would just wake up because I'm wet usually around my neck and chest area, I don't feel like I had fever. I remember in the past when I got tested for HIV I got so stressed I was having night sweats, test turned out to be negative.
Avatar f tn I was put on Effexor for the night sweats. Studies have shown it may make a difference for women who experience extreme night sweats. It did help matters for me somewhat, but the only problem is that I have now been on it for three years, and it is one of the hardest antidepressants to taper. I was in the doctor's office today and read a short article in either Better Homes and Gardens or Good Housekeeping...can't remember which one.
Avatar f tn re ahead of the game there. Great for you. After 9 days I would have loved to wake up to night sweats after 6 hrs of sleep. The lack of sleep was one of the hardest effects from detox for me. So glad you're feeling better too. Hope you've turned the corner for good. Stay on your toes though and get ready for a better life. Don't we deserve it?
Avatar m tn I'm 19 years old. Lately, more specifically for the past month or so, I have been waking up in the middle of the night soaked in sweat, and i find myself having to change my shirt upon returning to bed. It has literally only been a month since I've started experiencing these night sweats! it has been occuring 3 or 4 times a week. Should I be concerned? I have heard from several people that nightsweats are quite common with people my age entering adulthood.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had the right side of my thyroid removed last year due to a benign nodule. They didn't know it was benign until they removed it as the FNA was inconclusive. I'm going through the menopause and have night sweats but you're far too young for that. Did your doctor put you on medication for your thyroid after your op? a month after my operation I was put on a 100mg of Thyroxine and seems I'm on it for life.
Avatar m tn Thanks, for the reply but i just want to have the basic idea of what "true night sweats" mean. You answer would be highly, appreciated.
Avatar m tn As for night sweats, i still have them and i'm over 6 months post tx and SVR........ Good luck and hang in there.
Avatar n tn I have been Type 1 diabetic for 45 years, I have had night sweats, for many years some times so wet that we have had to strip the bed and move into the spare room, My wife tells me that the wetness don’t smell like sweat in fact it is odourless, I have no smell at all, lost that years ago, the "sweats" as we call them are a mystery to all and some time two nights in a row then nothing for a month or so.
458072 tn?1291415186 I have had night sweats since my second laporascope for endometreosis. I have been having them worse lately. I wake up with the collar to mid chest wet with sweat mosts nights. I always attributed it to hormones of the female kind, but, now I am not so sure. Back then I had surgery for endometreosis because my monthly was a constant thing. I wonder how much of my life I might have had some sort of thyroid malfunction now though.
Avatar f tn t a specialist in other fields, lol, but do you by chance know other reasons for random bouts of night sweats other than infection or illness?
Avatar m tn i have had night sweats for awhile now(about a year) and i have tested negative for HIV since they started.should i negate HIV as a cause?
1889242 tn?1321354938 I have had night sweats like you describe in the past. Usually they will last for a week or so. It is gross, like you said. They usually wake me up they're so gross, and then I change clothes. I'm also like you in that I'm generally freezing during the day. I never thought to associate the sweats with anything, though.
