has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects. HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.

I appreciate the antibiotics, but they haven't done much for me either. But have you tried low percentage retin-a cream? This may be a solution for you. Applied at night, the thin layer of cream can do wonders in a matter of weeks, and over several months, there's a big improvement. t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.

I wrote in to you and you suggested to try Clindamycin or another drug. I took two of them into the vet to get the Clindamycin. He looked at one and said "oh he just has bad teeth". I thought this is strange as his teeth were fine until he contracted this ailment. He looks at the female and right away and said cancer! He did no biopsy or testing nor did he offer to do such. About 5 weeks ago I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed, and the oral surgeon prescribed me Clindamycin to prevent infection. The reason that the other poster could have been cured by cipro is that she may have had a Mycoplasma and it may have been sensitive to ciprofloxacin. But the standard treatment for bv is either metronidazole or Clindamycin. So you can try the cipro and see if it clears up but if it doesn't then if can take clindamycin I would then take probiotics after. Cipro can treat a lot of UTI's but not all. It depends on the bacteria that is causing the infection and how resistant it is.
