Because I have an artificial joint I take 600mg of Clindamycin Prior to dental work. I han root canal done on a tooth under a permanent bridge a year ago by a General Dentist. One hour start to finish. It was infected, but I was never given any additional antibiotics. Since that time had an ongoing foul taste and odor when I used Water Flosser daily. The adjacent tooth became infected and also required a root canal. This time done by an Endadontist.
I feel a little pain radiating down my neck off and on and treat it with Tylenol. No facial swelling at least not yet. Went to one dentist and paid out of pocket who prescribed penicillin V 500mg. It took about a week and The Sensation went away. That was about 3 weeks ago. I had went to another dentist for a second opinion who also prescribed clindamycin. I figured I would keep that medicine and take only if it flared back up while I was waiting for dental insurance to kick in at some point.
Try this. Grab a Q-tip and bite on it and see if theres pain on the tooth. That'll help you isolate the pain. If it hurts in the ear and jaw joint, I would then suspect that there may be a problem with the TMJ or other area. Do you have a problem opening and closing the mouth?

t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
I went to my GP who then prescribed me clindamycin on top of the erythromycin and codeine for pain. When I was only taking erythromycin, my stomach was hardly upset, if at all. Now that I'm taking the clindamycin, my stomach is killing me. There's no diarrhea as of yet, but the amount of stomach cramping I have is insane. It's not abdominal pain, but stomach pain, just below my chest.
ve never had a tooth extraction while having abscessing going on, and she said it was fine. Tooth was pulled and was sent home with an Rx of Clindamycin (150mg), 4xday. Infection got worse. I was prescribed clindamycin after experiencing pain in my tooth after a root canal. I took a double dose (600mg) of clindamycin as I missed a dose. I am experiencing severe pain from my chest through to my back. It feels like spasms and is difficult to breath. I normally take nexium on a daily basis; however I missed my dose of that too. I did take my nexium but I have felt absolutely no relief whatsoever.
Alternatively, you can take clindamycin for the bv and drink a boat load of cranberry juice for the UTI and water of course. It will take longer to clear up the UTI but it should work. It did for me in a pinch. It just took a couple of extra days. Of course if you are diabetic you can't.
They did a re-treatment on the tooth. My dentist had put on me on pain meds and amoxicillin. two days after the retreatment I was in horrible pain. I went back to the endo to have an I&D done. My face was very swollen for two days. They then switched my meds to clindamycin(2 rounds) The swelling has gone away mostly but there is still a little swollen area near the tooth where the I&D was done. Every day it is an improvement but it still hurts.
I was also taking Clindamycin after oral surgery and started have mucus, watery, diarrhea and saw alittle blood(pinkish) and this went on for 1 week. I finally went to the dr today, I have Clostridium Difficile Colitis and it is from taking Clindamycin it is a severe side effect. So now I am on Vancomycin for the Colitis and 2 other medications for the diarrhea....If you look up Clindamycin you will see that it can cause Colitis.
went to the dentist and he said the infection had gone into my tissue. He put me on Clindamycin on wed.. the lump is still there and the pain had subsided until today. The pain is now really bad. How long does it take for the antibotics to work? have an appt. to have tooth pulled out on the 14th. How long should I give the lump to go down before going to ER for Iv antibiotics?
Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
ve been taking it as prescribed for one whole day but the swelling and excruciating pain in my jaw, neck, temple and cheekbone/sinus continue to come and go every few hours. It is now 3 hours into day five and my face is still swollen and in pain. Is the medication successfully fighting the infection? I don't understand why the swelling and pain goes down slightly for a couple hours and then returns just as strong as before.
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
Hi I Was Recently Sick and Had To Begin taking an antibiotic called Clindamycin. Will I Be Okay To Drink Alcohol While On This Medication. I Have Read That This Antibiotic Doesn't Have Any Negative Affects While Drinking Alcohol. But Just Wanted To Double Check.
I recently had a wisdom tooth extraction and was prescribed Clindamycin to prevent the extraction area from becoming infected. I was prescribed this medication on 5/28/2014. I was directed to take it 3x a day until it was all gone. I took it for about a week straight. I noticed while I was on the medication that I had very severe episodes of diarrhea and stomach cramping. I stopped taking the medication as of yesterday.

An hour later my cheek started swelling more and getting tighter and heavier. The pain started to get worse too. Now its difficult and painful to swallow! I'm so scared I don't know what to do but I'm definitely not taking anymore of them. Has anyone had a similar experience with this stuff and please what did you do? I'm going to another dentist to see if I can get different antibiotics like Keflex or something. Panicking horrible though. Any advice would help.
I have Staphylococcus epidermidis in urine and semen in the Microgendx test as well. I was prescribed to take Clindamycin. It was effective. I am in Canada, and happy to discuss more details with you.
Well Fri night the right side of my lip, under my chin, and half my cheek went numb, and just throbbing pain, so I call the endo sat morning, he sounded a lil panicked by the situation, he called me in a heavy antibiotic (150 mg Clindamycin) and a higher dose of vicodin (7.5-750mg) which IS NOT taking the pain away, my face is still swollen and numb, and still hurting. Has anyone else gone through this, or know what the hell is going on?
