429432 tn?1343594190 I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this on, but here goes. I am a recovering drug/alcohol addict with 40 clean days behind me. Problem is, I think I've replaced the drugs with food. I am very depressed and seem to eat all of the time, way beyond being full. I never consumed so much food all at one time before. I'ts taking a toll on my health, not to mention the weight gain =( Has anyone else been in a similar situation?
Avatar f tn Instead of eating, I would clean. I still do that, I feel starving but clean the house instead then I feel worthy of a snack. I'm 22 now, could I have an eating disorder now instead of the less severe disordered eating? Should I seek help again?
Avatar f tn Thank you!
401095 tn?1351391770 I got clean and the first few week ere hard but it really help sooooooo much long with eating healthy and supplements .The forum is helpful too .So is my counseling sessions. I think that has been the biggest change for me it was the difference between relapsing and not .
Avatar m tn Yes, that's most likely why. If you're not hungry, you must force yourself to eat something. Good nutrition and exercise are very important in controlling anxiety. Also, do you drink any of those sugary caffeine drinks? That is the worst thing you could do if you are. I say this because I know alot of kids drink those these days. Very very bad for anxiety. I want you to eat some lunch right now. If you're not very hungry then eat some fruit or some soup....something light.
Avatar m tn Dave! Congratulations on your 17 days clean time! Thanks for sharing your story with us. Please share with our forum what steps you're taking to never have this happen to you again. God bless!
1645684 tn?1356649600 This is where addicts come to learn how to get and hopefully stay clean. Some get clean here and move over to the groups. Most get clean here and leave. It is very difficult to explain to a new member that they have a disease. They believe that the substance they are addicted to is the problem. So what you are proposing could go on for a long time with little result. Look through the groups and see which ones are still active or create a new one.
5628321 tn?1376273593 I have always loved this forum. Wished they had it with my first 2 children. I joined in 07. The only thing I don't like that has changed is they separated some of the age groups. This used to be 18-35.
1767882 tn?1331409169 Hi everyone. Just in the past few days, I've had some fantastic improvements in how I feel and how I approach each day. First, I'm sleeping better, which has been my big bugaboo since day one. I don't have perfect sleep patterns, but then again, I never did!. I do have nights now where I get 5 or 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep, which is HUGE!. It's not every night, but it happens enough now that I feel seriously good in the morning! Mornings used to be pure hell.
Avatar f tn glad to see you again...I go to NA meetings and find strength there...the forum is my main support system...use it..it is free...we love seeing you post again...u should be sooooooooo proud of yourself!
Avatar f tn Subway is amazing are u aloud to eat peanuts then?
Avatar n tn vitamin B5, glutamine, and zinc are important for healing. Some have had good results eating oats. Slippery elm helps soothe an inflamed gastrointestinal tract. Have you read Enzymes for Digestive Health and Nutritional Wealth by Karen DeFelice? Great Book!
Avatar f tn As I said in my other post,I have been coming around Na since 1989..I relapsed with 13 years clean and now have almost 2 years clean next month god willing! I was diagnosed with crohns disease and I struggle alot with so many things around it..do I go to the er or not?..usually a humiliating experience as I am a frequent flier and I cringe when I see them roll their eyes like..oh here she comes again! And the ever present question..pain vs pain meds.
Avatar f tn Step 1: The best way is to start eating a diet of whole food (clean fruit and vegetables - nothing added) for a few days (I doubt these will cause symptoms). Step 2: Once without symptoms and when ever you have the time (for example over weekends) add a new food item and make a list of the foods which cause such a dizziness or other symptoms.
Avatar f tn I am now 37 days clean. Just curious if anybody else has dealt with this issue. I can't bring myself to eat anything until dinner time. I try to eat 3 meals a day however I just get really sick after the first bite of food except for at dinner time. I thought I was going to gain weight after getting off of the vicodin.
2048234 tn?1330814100 So today is day 2 of clean time and day 3 of withdrawals. I'm sitting here eating raw veggies and I can actually eat them. For the past 2 days I would even gag trying to drink water. I also went to my interview today.... SOBER!!! Felt like crap but I think I nailed it!! Hope tomorrow is a better day. I actually just hope I don't wake up freezing covered in sweat. I'm getting my clean time back!!
Avatar n tn After almost 9 months of abusing Tramadol and several years of weekend Vicoden abuse,I am 10 days clean. It feels so good not to have that shaky feeling by noon and looking at that damn bottle and counting pills three times a day. I actually found a real Doctor and stopped shopping for quacks and urgent care centers. I felt like such a low life walking into a medi-center holding my back and moaning.I could have won an academy award! This addiction forces you to eat healthy after you are clean.
Avatar m tn The doctor on the emotional eating expert forum has great advice too. You should try there.
Avatar f tn James and Kim my good friends are 50 days clean today from a 13 year Heroin addiction.. I just want to say in the public forum how very very proud of them I em and what a inspiration to me and anyone else that reads their story.. Thank you for befriending me for I have benefited... love to you both..
Avatar m tn There is a social addiction forum above this one where people go to talk about their day and other things if youre interested.
405406 tn?1247428742 Some information here that is posted sounds like their thread should be posted on the expert forum. I applaud them - but was very overwhelmed at some posts. It can be very overwhelming especially if you do not understand what is happening to you. And good simple direction at first is key along with learning about the disease itself. On the positive end you will find very compassionate and "leman" terms explainations here that will help.
Avatar f tn Hi! I am one month clean of opiates today. I still don't feel good, but, definately better that my first week.
