I was prescribed ciprofloxacin for a bladder infection. I have read a ton online about horrible side effects. I figure most people would post these types of stories rather than success stories. What is the truth? How safe should I feel taking this drug? I voiced my concern to my family doctor and he seems to back the drug. I took one pill and feel some slight side effects so far, but nothing extremely serious.
Resently Doctor decided to take Urine test and found bladder infection and gave me CIPRO as an antibiotic. I feel rush under my ribs and pain in the back (right side). Do you think that this infection can cause that? I am still taking this CIPRO things and hope that this'll help. Do you know if lymph nodes can case pain or infection could go up from bladder and affect other areas? Please help!
I do have an intermittant slight burn on ejaculation and urination too. I feel the itch moreso when my bladder needs to be emptied too. During the last 150 days, I have been Dx'd with a left varicocele by US. I do have a urethral diverticuli but otherwise normal cystoscopy. I have had negative G/C panels by UA and negative HIV/Syph by blood. My Urine culture did show less than 3000 Serratia Marcecans too.(Not sure how this correlates though) I have been on the following meds.

HI, I have had 3 bladder and 1 yeast infection in the last 3 months. This happens every time I am admitted to a hospital for surgery. However, my last surgery was Gallbladder removal May/2010 . I have only been home 3 days from the hospital when it started to burn in my bladder whether I had to pee or not it was burning like fire. Went to the ER , first treatment of antibiotics CIPROFLOXACIN 500MG every 12hrs FOR 5 DAYS.

I went to the doctor and was prescribed Doxycycline but after three days (I had difficulty breathing so I went to ER) I switched to Ciprofloxacin. While at the hospital I also took some powdered oral medicine and a shot in the buttocks (one of these two was Amoxacilin, the shot I think). Everything seemed to have cleared up and it's been 3 months since this incident. I ended up testing negative for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea but I continued to finish the medication.
I had been to my doctor who after viewing my urine sample and blood test report confirmed an infection in my uretritus. He gave me NOVIDATE 500 CIPROFLOXACIN HCL, which I took for 5 days. Then after 5 days one night I had severe pain in my upper back after I urinate with itching like feeling. My doctor told me to have test again. Right now I feel so weak and some mild pain in my upper back with vomiting like feeling.
I was put on antibiotics in subspects for infection. I know it can be hard to prove infection in the prostate. The urologist told me that in case of MSK and having infection in the kidneys itselves, infection can spread to the prostate. Has any of you experienced the same thing?
Thank you very much for your comment, Dr Santos. I appreciate it. I did end up taking in a urine sample from first voiding in the morning (without voiding for >6 hours) to my urologist. The dip test was positive for nitrites and leukocytes. The urologist sent it to the lab to do a culture and it came back positive for the bacteria "serratia marcescens". I was prescribed and completed a 3-day course of ciprofloxacin, 500mg twice a day.
Usually the burning or the tingling you feel at the tip of penis can be due to an allergic reaction (say to body lotions, condoms, soaps etc) or it can be a skin condition like eczema, dermatitis etc or it can be a fungal infection. Other than that it can be a simple bacterial infection or balanitis. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and regards.
My name is Radu, I'm only 20 years old and I've been suffering from right lower side abdominal pain and bladder pain for 2 months. I've seen 2 urologysts , 1 surgeon , 1 infectionist doctor , but no results. I've been investigated with ultrasound , MRI ELECTROMAGNETICAL , and they excluded appendicitis ,hernia and abdominal ruptures, also kidney stones. First time I saw an urologyst who performed a rectal examination and told me it's acute prostatitis (but he wasn't so sure).
7) Ciprofloxacin: 500mg 2 times/day for 10 days After four days, I felt really good, but then on the 5th day everything came back. (Non-stop terrible burning sensation in my urethra) Then I took: 8) Macrobit 2 tables/ 6 days 9) Voltrex to treat possible viruses, but there was no change. All of this medication showed no change. Then I gave up with the medication, because I could kill my liver.

Similarly, bladder irritation is not typical of STIs. Even if you had been infected, the ciprofloxacin may have cured your infection. My suspicion is that your symptoms may be a manifestation of your concern/anxiety regarding the exposure you described or some other, coincidental process. It is most unlikely that you have an STI. Regarding your specific questions: 1.
The things you have been using are great to help PREVENT a UTI (they do so by keeping the urine pH on the acid side) but can't give those leukocytes the help they need to wipe out what sounds like a raging infection. Men certainly do get UTIs!!! My son is 31. A few weeks back he ended up being cathed at a stat care when he couldn't void at all. They sent him home with the catheter still in and antibiotics to treat his UTI.
A week later I am experiencing clear drip from my penis not all the time, testicle pain, burning sensation after urinating and after ejaculation, and irritation in the bladder as well as frequently needing to urinate. I am unable to get tested do to my location at work until the end of the month. I have cipro 500mg with me about 20 pills. I took 1 pill twice a day for 2 days incase it was ghonerrhea. Still have the symptoms. My questions are 1.
all the tests are negative. around this time, i also begin to notice pressure right around where my bladder is that causes alot of discomfort as well as some pain in my scrotum. my doctor prescribes me with cipro for 3 weeks and clotrimazole cream for a week.the clotrimazole made the red dots disappear. i take the cipro for 2 weeks and stop because i thought that if this was some sort of yeast infection, the antibiotics would make it worse. the cream doesnt do anything.
Got off doxy and prescribed diflucan pill for possible yeast infection. didn't really help. i went back to the doc and he took a fungal swab and did another urinalysis, both came up negative. then he did a urine culture and it came up negative too. then tested again for chlamydia and gonorrhea because of a slight stickiness around urethral opening. everything negative.
I don't know what the antibiotics were, but one was a intra-muscular shot in the arm and the other was a drink which was mixed from powder and water. I believe the intent was to treat any possible Chlamydia/Gonnorhea infection(s). I was advised to stop taking the cipro, so I stopped. My symptoms seemed to improve somewhat, but I still was experiencing the following: 1. Frequent Urination 2. Weaker than usual stream 3. Painful ejaculation a. Symptoms 1, 2, 5 worse after ejaculation. 4.
I am taking an antibotic for a sore throat and now I have a bladder infection..
The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
Hello Good day to you doctor My wife has a problem in the urinary tract She feel pain from the bottom of the navel and down to urine output aperture The Pain during urination, also when little urine collects in the bladder She took the following antibiotics Augmentin 1 g - ceporex 1 g - ciprofloxacin 500 mg Augmentin only made her feel comfortable, but after the end of the second box (28 pills), The pain came back again immediately in less than 12 hours Then we did a urinalysis and everything w
I gave numerous urine samples to my GP which all came back negative and was told that it was probably my bladder still feeling sensitive after the infection and it would eventually go away. A few months passed and I was feeling even worse, again I gave urine samples and nothing came back. I was taken in for bladder and kidney ultrasounds which came back fine, nothing to report. My GP then told me she suspected I had intersistial cystitis (IC).
Hello, Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic used for an infection and phenazopyridine or pyridium is used in urinary tract infections, surgery, or injury to the urinary tract. If you are taking them for a UTI then you can take both of them or as presecribed by your doctor. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Hi! You have an infection in your bladder and also bacterial vaginosis. It appears that any of the antibiotics on the list would work to clear up the infections. For a bladder infection, I would typically use Bactrim in a patient of my own. For BV I would use Flagyl which isn't on the list. Its other name is metronidazole. I hope this is helpful!
