Ciprofloxacin for gum infection

Common Questions and Answers about Ciprofloxacin for gum infection

Avatar n tn Well 4 weeks later I went to my doctor who had put me on ciprofloxacin 500mg to get rid of the infection. I have one more day of this medicine and the infection is not completely gone. I have discomfort in my gums and the drainage only happens if i touch around my nose or close to gum and jaw line. What should I do now?
Avatar m tn If it is a urinary tract infection it probably doesn't matter to wait but it may be uncomfortable for you for a few days so that is my opinion on it. If you have a fever you may be getting the dizziness and tiredness from that and/or fighting off the infection and/or from the antibiotics. Some species of E. coli and E. faecalis can be resistant too but usually they can find antibiotics to treat both of these at this point.
Avatar f tn I did my research online this seems to be a gum infection and/or abscess of the tooth and very painful for the cat. I've never grabbed this cat, nor will it let me take it somewhere, it moves tries to escape doesn't like to be grabbed. Please tell me if there is something i could take, any antibiotic or pain killer or anti inflammation, anything. Unfortunately i have not much knowledge of medicine.
Avatar n tn My dentist put me through three rounds of antibiotics, popped the abcess three times now (after removing the crown, opening the nerve canal, popping it and injecting antibiotics into the area). This time, I'm on 250 mg x 2 of ciprofloxacin for 5 days (I was on clindamycin 150 mg x 3 previously all three times for 10 days with only mild results). However, I still have the "lump" on the upper gum where the root canal was performed, and it remains painful.
Avatar m tn I am not proud of what I have done and have been very worried. at 4 weeks I went to a private gum doctor who did hiv test for my piece of mind (although he said it was not needed). He did std tests with blood, urine test and microscope test. at 6 weeks (monday) i felt my groin was slightly sore, i went back to him and he said there was nothing wrong, he repeated the std unine and swap from tip of penis. all clear.
Avatar m tn I'll just say that if you had a positive test for M genitalium, then you had the infection at that time. However, it doesn't necessarily mean it was the cause of your symptoms. And if your symptoms are continuing, it isn't necessarily because M genitalium is still there; the only way to know is to have another test for it. The UK's NHS genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics are excellent, with world class expertise. I would recommend you visit your local GUM clinic if you haven't done so.
Avatar m tn I had a chest X-ray done and nothing was found. I was on ciprofloxacin for a week for a urinary tract infection when this all started happening. I also had bacterial eye infection. During the cipro course, I've had bright yellow stools, which never completely went back to brown. I have tried taking probiotic supplements and foods. I am not suspecting celiac, but I've never had issues with gluten.
Avatar m tn They remain positive indefinitely (perhaps for life) after the infection is gone, and they also can be positive after infection with non-sexually transmitted chlamydia species that infect the respiratory tract. Your wife may or may not have chlamydia, but the blood test doesn't show it. I don't know how commonly such tests are used in Singapore, but they are not done in the US or most countries because they are useless.
Avatar m tn I went to a private GUM Doctor and expalined my situation, he said no HIV risk and little STD risk, however for my peace of mind he did blood test, urine test and swab, all at 4 weeks. He put me on a one 4 tablet does of Azithromycin to be iron clad. All were clear. two weeks later I was having a pain in my left testicle, like a pulsing pain that came and went, not there at night, mostly when sitting. Not sore to touch.
Avatar f tn I discovered I was pregnant at 4 weeks and I inmediately stopped taking them. I was also on antibiotics (ciprofloxacin) at the time for a gum infection. I also stopped taking the antibiotic and my dentist prescribed a mouthwash instead. My provider will see me at 11 weeks, but i'm going crazy wondering if I have hurt my baby in any way. I'm terrified of birth defects. I would like to know the effects of this medications this early in pregnancy.
Avatar m tn I would get a second opnion. she tested positive for gono , you had gono. go to your local gum clinic an get tested for all STDs Testing time frame 5 days for gono and chlamydia 6 week Syphillis 3 months HIv, but a negative test at 6 weeks is not likely to change 3-4 months erpes There is no test for HPV, if you develop cauliflower looking lesions go see a derm asap for he can evaluate it.
Avatar m tn As nothing has yet been found, my GUM Consultant has diagnosed me with a Prostate infection due to the symptoms and a 4 weeks course of Ciprofloxacin has been seen through..I do not feel that the situation has improved. This is the stage where I am at at the moment. Now whatever the infection .seems to be moving. I have had pain under each armpit (mostly the left one) and several Lymph nodes have appeared on my neck and shoulder/above collar bone (around 2cm in size).
Avatar m tn stronger after the ejactulation. I went back to the GUM clinic and they gave me water infection tablets, not knowing if I had a water infection or anything as I don't have any change in timing for the loo or how many times. Can anyone shed some light on this? and what I should do next?
Avatar n tn Hi Doctor, I've been having pain in my left testicle for a few days now and its really unconfortable but its not swollen or whatsoever.. About 3 months ago I had an infection and wents for tests at a GUM clinic and the results came back Negative for STI & HIV but was told that I had a NSU.
Avatar m tn They did the umbrela test and found no infection present. They also tested me for clamidya, ghonera, syphalis and HIV, which all came back negative. since then i have been to the doctors twice. I have done a month of antibiotics. 2 weeks of Oxytetracycline and 2 weeks of ciprofloxacin. this eased the pain in my penis tip, but did not get rid of the readness or my aching right testicle. Since finishing the course the slight pain in my penis has returned.
Avatar m tn doctors have not told me what it could be other than an std because mainly I have been going to a gum clinic but could it be thrush or a yeast infection because of antibiotics i have taken (Doxycycline, Ciprofloxacin, Naproxcen and a few others) in the last two months for different symptoms and im mentally broken down.
Avatar n tn Doctor, I was wondering if taking ciprofloxacin can alter test results for any of the following STDs: genital herpes, chlamydia, gonorrhea, hepatitis b and c, or syphilis. I was tested for these while taking ciprofloxacin and was just curious. Thanks again.
Avatar m tn (this worried me) July-30 went to clinc for a dr. appt. , told about symptoms, given urine tests for gono, clymid. and a I asked for a test for UTI- and they treated me for my symptoms of STD infections (they wanted to wait, but I truly was in pain) The UTI test was ready in min, and they said it was negative for UTI & kidney stones. Given Azrithomician, and another anti-biotic that started with a "C" not cipro. July 29 Wife went to Dr. for bladder inf.
Avatar m tn 32 year old white male. Jan 27th had protected (used condom at all times) oral & vaginal sex with a white girl in a massage parlour in the southwest of the UK. She was menstruating at the time. Some of her fluids were in my pubic hair but not on my penis & the condom was taken off carefully (don’t believe it failed). 27th of Feb noticed tip of my penis (meatus) slightly red. Due to anxiety got frequent urination.

Avatar n tn Firstly, many thanks for the service you provide! Aug 18th - 1 night stand with girl I met at bar while on vacation in usa; cunnilingus, protected sex using condom.(some unprotected genital contact).
Avatar m tn on day 3 (at dawn), i got burning sensation (or hurt sensation) when i pee (this was the only symptom), so i went to the doctor (emergency room) and he suspected i got gonorrhea. the doctor gave me ciprofloxacin 500mg for 3 times a day for 5 days (so total 15 pills). the symptoms disappear after i took 3 pills, but i finished all the 15 pills of course.
Avatar m tn It started after a promiscuous incident that occured around ten weeks ago with a female friend of a friend. I received unprotected oral sex from her for around ten minutes without reaching climax. 10 days after the incident I went for STD screening in which I received negative results. Around a week later I had pain in my Testicles and pubic area so went to doctors and was prescribed Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice per day for 14 days to treat Epididmitis.
Avatar n tn Also, and on the flip side, you said you don't have a fever, which is also unusual for this kind of infection. I guess, though, that the antibiotics could have helped with the systemic infection, and just weren't effective on your symptoms. Who knows? I'm anxious to hear your findings, so please let me know.
Avatar m tn You may have a problem that looks like a sinus infection, but is something else. The medical model works for most people, and if you have a severe sinus infection, it could spread to other parts of your head or body, and it would be a good idea to be on antibiotics. Part I explains the Flip-Turn Sinus Flush®, Part II tells you why it works, Part III tells you how to prevent sinus problems. Good luck, and breathe free! INTRODUCTION Antibiotics often do not work for chronic sinusitis.
Avatar m tn E coli doesn't cause NGU and ciprofloxacin is the wrong drug for NGU. Perhaps he suspects you have a non-sexually acquired urinary tract or prostate infection, of which E coli is a common cause -- but these are rare at your age (29 according to your profile page) and are not triggered by STDs or by sexual contact with new partners. 1) Already answered -- see my orignal reply. (Yes.
Avatar n tn Urinalysis is not generally useful in diagnosis. I'm not surprised ciprofloxacin didn't help; it is an atypical treatment for NGU, not recommended by CDC or other authorities. That said, normally it probably would have made at least some difference. This raises herpes as perhaps a somewhat more likely possibility than I thought before. It would be wise to have an HSV-2 antibody test.
Avatar n tn I am not completely sure which type, but after researching antibiotics today, Ciprofloxacin looks very familiar to me. The pain went on for a long time to mid or late 2002, and my doctor sent me for a scan just to make sure nothing serious was there. I was not informed by my doctor that Chlamydia is one of the main causes of epidymitis, nor was i asked about by sexual behaviour or STDs, and i continued to have unprotected sex with my girlfriend throughout this 2 year period.
