Common Questions and Answers about Chest cold while pregnant

chest

Pneumonia is in some cases when left untreated a hospital stay waiting to happen. Hopefully it is just bronchitis or like you said a chest cold. Either way, I would see the doc. No reason to be more miserable than you have to be. :) Let me know how it goes.
I have had a bad since cold for like 3 weeks now I'm about 8 weeks pregnant and I've tried ever tylenol product and nothing helps with the cough can anymore recommended anything else.
I have an extreem chest cold and was wondering.is there anything i can take to ease the simptoms that wont hurt the baby .
it's now wednesday and am still coughing pretty heavy....is there anything that can be taken safely while pregnant? i'm afraid to take anything. i have been drinking hot water, honey and tea and it helps very little. was going to buy halls or fisherman's friends but there's a warning for pregnant peeps to consult their dr...at first i thought it was my allergies but i guess not...my stomach and head hurt so much from it. hope im not getting a fever and that i'm not harming this lil guy...
4 wks pregnant and got a head cold last week. I have been using a neti pot for saline rinse my sinuses were burning and bleeding due to the dry air. After using the neti pot my nose is better. I run a humidifier in my bedroom so it's not so bad when I sleep. It stinks being sick while pregnant. I also have a cough that gets really bad at night I haven't taken anything for it. Hope you find some relief I know it stinks but you'll make it through it.
i think there will be some who may say tylenol is okay? however i was JUST like you are and paranoid about what to take. i too had a NASTY cold while pregnant and honestly, i just let nature take its course and "dealt with it" i was too afraid something would happen. i even called the dr. to see if i could drink a hot herbal tea. even certain teas are a no no.
I've been battling a sinus thing and I was told Sudafed but nothing more than regular Sudafed (no PE, extended release, etc.)and that if it became a full blown cold (chest congestion, cough, etc.) I could take Tylenol Cold but also just the regular version. Hope you get to feeling better!
Hey Michele sorry to hear you are feeling so lousy. I had a bad cold for about 4 days last month and the dr said Tylenol cold or anything made by Tylenol was safe. I of course did not take anything though. I just suffered. I have read that all of that stuff such as allergies and nasal congestion get worse during pg like we don't feel bad enough. Are you having anymore symptoms (I know you were a little worried about that) Are you feeling movement??? I think I am.
Well, that really stinks because I know they can give you antibiotics while you are pregnant. Have you ever heard of the Z Pak??? It's a five day antibiotic and you are able to take it while you are pregnant. I took it with my last one. It's wonderful and works very quickly. I would definitely use a humidifier. It will help to break up the stuff in your chest.
It started in my stomach and chest and spread up to my neck and jaw and even ears. It hurt so freaking bad I ran for the cold water and it was instant relief. I don't know how anyone could stand it without the water or I suppose anything cold to drink would work if you drank it fast. I am healthy, exercise regularly and have no medical problems of any kind. This is a mystery, but thank goodness for cold water.
I need some Nyquil... not mucinex. I hate the medications pregnant girls are allowed to have.
Lie down in the bathtub, turn the water as warm as you want, and point the shower head AT THE WALL (obviously you can't take hot baths while pregnant, so make sure the water is on the wall) it will cause the steam that you want, and if you close the drain in the bathtub you can let the water fill up a little and keep you warm (by the time the water travels down the tile into the tub it's not too hot to bathe in, at least in my experience) and it's a very relaxing, helpful way to clear your sinu
Will it hurt if I take a couple chewable vitamin C tablets until I get over this cold? Any additonal tips you can offer me about dealing with a cold while being pregnant I would appreciate as well! Thank you!!
I totally agree w/all the others...you need to get a Dr appt ASAP & come clean w/them! I know you are scared & its really hard, but you will feel much better once you do! That way your Dr can put a plan in place that is safe for you & your baby!! NEVER stop the meds CT while pregnant!
There are millions of women who suffer from panic attacks while pregnant, and all handle them differently. Some need medication, others do not-- for example, I suffered from bad anxiety while pregnant. I have a horrible phobia of vomiting, and while pregnant I got diagnosed with Hyperemesis--so I spent the entire 9 months vomiting and nauseated 24/7. Because of this I would spend each day freaking out about getting sick, and it was on my mind all the time.
my remide. is to have 2 big gulps of gaviscon, to sip ice cold milk while watching something on tv your intrested in so u can focus on it and have your partner rub your back as you lean over the bed or footstool...
I had a bad chest cold when I was pregnant and I would slather myself with the goo at bedtime. It's also good for getting a break from you marital duties. :) Hot water, honey and fresh lemon will soothe the cough. I hope you feel better soon.
You should state the pregnancy part first. While you are pregnant, your primary care giver is your obstetrician. Make an appointment to get checked. You could have pneumonia or whooping cough.
As its soo hot here in the UK I have filled up my daughters ten foot paddling pool, earlier I went in it, I sat down and wallowed like a huge hippo, but now I am starting to panic, my belly still feels cold and had no baby movement, is it dangerous to go into cold water while pregnant?
It seems that feeling cold/flu symptoms is a very common yet fairly new experience while menstruating. I have had these symptoms myself; however, they did not start until I took Plan B. I am wondering if oral contraceptives could be the culprit of these symptoms. Could it be that taking contraceptives and then stopping use(especially with the case of emergency conctraceptives) causes hormone imbalances?
Cold uticaria is an "allergy" to the cold. Exposure to cold will cause a histamine reaction similiar to that of any allergen, but cold uticaria results in hives that begin on the face, hands, and neck. The most common form has a rapid onset of hives on exposure to the cold. To test for this, put an ice cube on the skin for 1-5minutes. A "positive" would result in the appearance of a hive on the skin.
It was Christmas and I had loaded up on a bunch of See's Chocolate I was sent for Christmas. I then set out to meet a friend for lunch and while I was driving, I began to black out very slowly. I fought the entire black out as much as possible, but realized that I had to immediately turn on my emergency lights and pull over or else I would completely black out. I put my seat down for one minute and lied on my back as I used my cell phone to call the friend I was meeting.
