Avatar n tn Hmm, I just checked my approved otc medication list from my ObGyn and they have Robitussin DM as ok. But that doesn't surprise me since with my first pregnancy I switched docs mid-way and they both had completely different lists of ok medications. I would call to make sure, but like I said the DM is approved on my list.

Also what can i take? I know they say Tylenol is safe during pregnancy but i have a really sensitive stomach and acetaminophen always upsets my stomach really bad. I have really bad chest congestion and coughing.
1955360 tn?1329356724 There are otc medicines u are aloud to take. Like mucinex dm and tylenol sinus and cold. Call ur ob dr and ask them for a complete list. They will tell u.
Avatar f tn However, they were adamant that I make sure I get the kind we have to sign for and not the OTC one. I was wondering why because I know the one we sign for has the stuff that people use to make meth but the OTC stuff does not. So what is the difference?

Avatar m tn We all have different chemistry and therefore different responses to medicaitons but I think overall the OTC cough remedies are mostly safe. The only caviat is that the active indredient for cough suppression is dextromethorphan (DXM or DM on labels) and some people abuse it since it can act as a dissociative hallucinogen similar to ketamine or PCP but only in very high doses.
118074 tn?1228329003 I am 14.5 weeks pregnant and think I am getting a cold from my son. What OTC meds can I take?
Avatar f tn Yes there are a lot of safe OTC meds for cold. Tylenol, Tylenol plus, Sudafed, Sudafed PE, Vicks 44 are the few that come to mind right away.

Avatar n tn Between December 2002 and October 2005, 189 non-diabetic patients were treated with Peg-IFN-alpha/Riba, of whom five developed type 1 DM (2.6%), three type 2 DM (1.6%) and one an indeterminate type of DM. Classical symptoms of DM were present in three patients who developed DM shortly after cessation of Peg-IFN-alpha/Riba. In the other patients, symptoms of DM were either indistinguishable from side effects caused by Peg-IFN-alpha/Riba or absent.
Avatar f tn I had an adverse reaction to Mucinex DM. In May I had an upper resporitory infection and my doctor prescribed antibiotics and told me to take a decongestant. I bought the Mucinex DM (12 hour time release) and took one pill before bed. I woke up 3:00 am hallucinating big white globs. It was pretty bad and I called the nurse hotline for my insurance. The nurse told me to call poison control. Poison Control told me the "DM" in the medicine was a hallucinagent.
Avatar f tn i used cortisone overnight for this small bump i had on my skins dm i woke up and my whole upper cheek bone turned white. it’s very noticeable and i’m very stressed about it. what can i do for the skin color to come back?? i’m very worried.
Avatar m tn There are several things that can mimic DM, and the thing that makes me think that it might not BE DM is that DM usually comes along gradually and not overnight, as you have described. Before a positive DM diagnosis can be made it is advisable to test for thyroid function.
603726 tn?1223919660 No, but now I take Rondec-DM (rx), I think it's a mind thing, kind of replacing one with another...I was on that Alka-seltzer for YEARS...it's a wonder my heart didn't explode with all the aspirin and sodium alone..combined with heavy drinking and other assorted stuff...
Avatar f tn Sudafed, Actifed, Tylenol Cold, Benadryl Allegry Cold, Sudafed PE. Under coughs it says it safe to take Robitussin DM, Robitussin CF and cough drops. Does your office have a ob nurse you can call and ask? Thats usualy what I do if im unsure about otc meds and problems between visits.
Avatar n tn The best way to tell is to look up any otc drug you want to take or call its 800 number, and to ask about contra-indications during pregnancy. Almost nothing for a cold can be taken, it's a shame when you have a sore throat and are sneezing.
