152660 tn?1291755571 Has anyone tried Precious Cat brand Cat Attract litter or Senior kitty litter???? I ripped up the carpet she was going on. Now I have to try something to keep her from starting on the rest of the carpet.
1578792 tn?1310889878 ve found when it involves the back end legs/butt its usually a litter allergy. for trial get some paper pellet or wood shavings for litter and see if that helps. It could also be pain related, did the Vet check out to see if her anal glands were impacted, does she have a UTI or bowel problems.....kittys will lick the area that they associate with pain. could also well be food allergies. I will send you a website to learn more of this.
Avatar f tn I just had a docs appt and they told me it was OK to be round cats just don't change the litter box.
Avatar m tn t know why that is impacting his life, but it sounds like the cat has anxiety. Usually if the cat has food allergies, they will scratch around their neck, top of their head and possibly around their face. It could also be allergies from something else, such as fleas, flea bites or dust. This is harder to determine and may have to be discovered by a vet. If they feel that is the reason, they can give the cat a shot that will temporarily relieve the itching for about a month.

5655568 tn?1371757104 Opus, I just read over the reply you had posted before. I'm honestly not quite sure what's causing the issue. I am using an Arm and Hammer brand of kitty litter. It's unscented, but it's considered mega because I have three cats. The food that he's been eating is Purina's Kit & Kaboodle. The oldest cat has been eating this food for years (and using the same litter), and we've never had an issue with her. I understand that allergies can adapt over time.
Avatar n tn Hi, Calm down and just let your cat know where the food, water and litter are. I assure you that in your cat's own time he/she will begin to feel less fear and come around. I had to take in my daughter's cat into my house with 2 dogs and a cat. Her cat stayed as far away as possible for months, and when we saw her on the stairs and we reached to try to pet her she swiped at us.
Avatar f tn Okay I have cats and my husband changes the cat box for me but my mom has a lot of cats and I never changed the cat boxes at her house but I could smell them ( she is also never home and leaves them there at her house with nobody there with them) she would clean the house but I still could smell it she also had a dog in the house.
Avatar f tn (like fleas) can cause allergies. Not saying your cat has fleas....just saying you might want to double check :) Good Luck.
Avatar f tn t need to be around my cat. The risks of cats are solely their litter box. If your cat eats meat raw or mice they could cone into contact with a parasite which they pass through their feces and if the litter isn't handled properly and you accidently consume it you could get toxoplasmosis. Which is very harmful to your unborn child. Best way to avoid it is to have your partner or a friend or family change and clean the litter box.
1492345 tn?1289255868 He doesn't seem to be scratching and licking like he used to... The Vet said that if he has an allergy the prednisone could possibly help. So, it seems, as of now, that it's helping :) The problem though now is the way he's acting... I moved the cat carrier from the laundry room, where one of the litter boxes is, to the "cat room". I'm trying to get him out of the litter box and back in the cat room...
Avatar m tn the main reason for licking fur off is allergies, when its the back legs and lower belly it is most likely the litter he is allergic too..if you have scented litter than buy some NONscented. maybe need to change to a natural product for awhile to see if this helps such as shredded paper or beads. could also be an allergy to the food, what are you feeding?
Avatar f tn areas of importance, such as litter boxes, food and water bowls and owners laps, favorite sleeping areas, etc.
Avatar f tn no this sure isn't normal...usually when there is a loss of fur or 'ripping' out its always due to allergies...the allergies can be inhaled, ingested or environmental. I am assuming the food and litter has remained unchanged. that makes me think its either something in the house your kitty is reacting too....was there a product used to clean the carpets..for instance. Or fleas? flea allergy can also cause this to happen. copy the link below for more info and photos..
1474611 tn?1416632958 My cat is so itchy. He's got little tiny bumps under his chin, behind both ears (right one is worse). He very rarely goes out. And when he does, he's not out for more than maybe 10 minutes. He's 2.5 years old, weighs about 15 pounds, and has short fur. His diet hasn't changed in the whole time I've had him. Flea stuff doesn't seem to help him either. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Hello, I am wondering if I am able to let my female cat and male cat outside.my female cat is jonesing to be outside and has sometimes escaped I have got her back with treats or she will come back on her on ( she goes into a neighbors yard ) my other cat the male (brother and sister) he will go outside a bit then gets scared and runs back in. Is there a way that I can leave a window open and they can go out and come in when they please...
Avatar n tn i took her to the vet they said it may be allergies. so i changed her food, litter, bought some fish oil. Nothing helped, now she has a crust around her eyes and has goopy green stuff coming out of the eyes! It was so much money for the vet and i was wondering if anyone had some info before i spend so much money again.
Avatar m tn The vet also ran an allergy test, but the things that our cat is allergic to were seasonal allergies which makes me doubt that they are the cause since he has been licking all year long. Our vet does not seem to have any clue, and I feel horrible since our cat seems so unhappy. Does anyone have any advice? We are really at a loss!
Avatar m tn t want me to hold her but when I do she her body seems very warm and tries to jump down. I am worried from what I read online about cat illnesses/diseases and her eating litter and was hoping for some suggestions from someone. Right now I cannot afford to take her to the vet for about a week but she is family to us, she's our baby. I think she has a combonation of problems: 1) Stress - from the move, the dog, my father-in law (loud alchoholic) and the load trailer park.
Avatar f tn I just got a kitten a month ago I've never owned a cat, but I don't change the litter box.
Avatar f tn I asked for the cat and the litter box to be left in her room to avoid any risks. I have not come in any contact with the cat at all until last night. Somehow the cat had gotten into my room and was hiding under the bed without my knowledge. After finally realizing the cat had been in the room I picked it up and put it outside of the room. Within minutes my hands and arms began to itch and little pinkish round spots had appeared. It didn't last very long, only a few hours.

Avatar f tn My doctor and every other midwife has known I have a cat and only warned against changing the cat litter, and even explained that my cat is at low risk from transfering any infection dangerous to me and baby since she is an indoor cat and the only one in the house. The midwife I saw monday immidiatly asked me if I had a cat (misplaced my lint roller so was cat hair on my coat) and directly told me it was dangerous to even be around my cat because the risk of infection.
531835 tn?1215615037 Thats great except I have to have the litter box and everything in my bedroom and can not put it anywhere else becasue I share my apartment. Is there no hope in figuring out a way to get around this. I am hearing that even if I clean everything top to bottom, wash the cats, wash all the bedding, and have a heppa filter he will still probably have a reaction. Does anyone have any ideas?
