I just had a docs appt and they told me it was OK to be round cats just don't change the litter box.

Changing the litter box can not only harm your baby, it can kill your baby and make you extremely sick. Tell him that his ignorance is not worth the life of your baby. If he wants a healthy baby, he needs to be just as involved with the pregnancy as you are and that means stepping up when you don't have the energy to clean. He needs to be supportive of you and your situation.

Toxoplasmosis is actually easier to get from gardening than it is to get it from a cat box. For one thing, your cat needs to actually have a case of toxoplasmosis at the time, and it doesn't last long. Then the pathogen would need to sit in the poop for three days before it would be contagious to you, in other words, if you change the litter box every day there is no risk even if your cat did happen to have toxoplasmosis.

You're supposed to stay away from kitty litter. Maybe wear like one of the mouth/nose masks while doing it. Or consult with your doctor to see if he/she has any ideas on what to do!

Okay I have cats and my husband changes the cat box for me but my mom has a lot of cats and I never changed the cat boxes at her house but I could smell them ( she is also never home and leaves them there at her house with nobody there with them) she would clean the house but I still could smell it she also had a dog in the house.

If your cat eats meat raw or mice they could cone into contact with a parasite which they pass through their feces and if the litter isn't handled properly and you accidently consume it you could get toxoplasmosis. Which is very harmful to your unborn child. Best way to avoid it is to have your partner or a friend or family change and clean the litter box.

ve never really talked to anyone about this, but for all her life she has never been able to properly use the litter box. She shares it with an older cat who does everything right but when my cat goes #2 she does not cover anything up! It is so gross to clean and leaves the house smelling awefull. Any tips on how to teach her at such an old age that she needs to cover her sh**??

He doesn't seem to be scratching and licking like he used to... The Vet said that if he has an allergy the prednisone could possibly help. So, it seems, as of now, that it's helping :) The problem though now is the way he's acting... I moved the cat carrier from the laundry room, where one of the litter boxes is, to the "cat room". I know someone who thinks his cat is spraying on the wall by cat box. He put a med sized storage box on its side and added a small amount of litter there. The cat has to scoot itself backward to the sand to go. The bin is not tall enough for the cat to sit straight up. There is not enough sand to cover it's business. I have a cat that is a female, 4 years old going on 5 years soon! Lately for the last 6 months or so my cat refuses to do number 2 in the littler box. Ever since she was a kitten she was not good at burying it after going....she would go in the box but bury the wall, floor, etc. Now she isn't going in the box. The box is clean and we have not changed the litter. I have tried a bigger box, box with a top and nothing seems to work. i can't figure out why the cat is doing this.

If your cat is a house cat then you have nothing to worry about. But if your cat goes outside then you have something to worry about.

Cats are finicky. Some cats hate covered litter boxes, and some are afraid of using them. In a multi-cat household the dominant or alpha cat may "own" the litter box, and will attack other cats when they try to use it. You may never observe this behavior, but it can occur. A rule of thumb for litter boxes is that you should have one more litter box than the amount of cats, therefore if you have 3 cats you should have 4 litter boxes.

She will urinate in the box, but will not poop in the box. She approximates the box within about 3 feet, but NEVER poops in the litter box. Is this psychological? Might she be allergic to the litter? My cat used to do that when she was little and it turns out she just didnt like that litter box bc it was too small so we got her a bigger one and she used it no problems :)

The cat will hold his urine longer than normal in his urinary bladder. The longer that urine stays in the bladder the more chance it can product crystals, or bacteria. It really would be best to have your vet sort this out.

We have a covered litter box that we clean every other day now that we have the new cat because his stink is enough to make you literally gag once he uses the litter box. And when we clean the litter box, I don't mean that we scoop it out and keep the old litter--no, every time we clean it, it's a complete dump of the litter and replaced with new litter because the used litter is actually ruined from his stink and does not cover up his odor at all. So every two days--new litter.

Its been a month and Im thinking about getting another cat (with a harness this time) But I WILL NOT have a cat that pees anywhere other than its litter box. My cat did go in the litter box but else where also. Any ideas?

Hello, I am wondering if I am able to let my female cat and male cat outside.my female cat is jonesing to be outside and has sometimes escaped I have got her back with treats or she will come back on her on ( she goes into a neighbors yard ) my other cat the male (brother and sister) he will go outside a bit then gets scared and runs back in. Is there a way that I can leave a window open and they can go out and come in when they please...

I would like to eliminate the litter box so they only go potty outside. I did this with my last cat, but I cannot for the life of me remember HOW I did it. I think I may have put the litter box outside for a week or two, but I don't recall. I DO remember I waited until he was a little older (probably about the same age my kitties are now). Wear a mask and wash your hands really well when you clean the litter box. If she is indoor only and eats commercial dried cat food toxoplasmosis really isn't as much of a concern, because they get it from eating raw meat. The cat herself is fine as long as her litter box is clean. I have one of those round spin litter boxes that you spin to sift the litter.

your deff not suppost to change it so dont do that anymore if you smell the liter i thinnk it causes birth deffects or something like that but dont smell it anymore

But she did it again right after I cleaned the litter box. She doesnt pee on the floor. Its a covered cat box and shes not doing just outside of the door so I know shes not just missing. Nothing has really changed in her life and she seems very healthy. Why is she doing this? Is she trying to tell me something? And how can I correct it? Would it help to try to teach her again just like I did when she was a kitten? She is a very much loved and pamper little cat. Any suggestions?
