can i take prilosec with tums

m 8 1/2 weeks with #2 and have heartburn pretty bad... I had to take prilosec already 1x... usually I can take it every 2 or 3 days and it'll work well... but when It gets bad I have to take it everyday. It won't really hurt baby. :) I'm eating tums like candy... at least I'm getting my calcium!

I take zantac and tums but tums really doesn't seen to do anything for me .

I would say watch what you eat. No citrus, tomatoes, greasy, sugary, garlic or onions. I would take tums because I still need it even avoiding those foods, but that's the only way I can get heartburn to be mild enough for tums to work. Ask your Dr before taking anything except what they have approved for you.

I had GERD to start with. I'd ask ur Dr as everyone is different but mine said I could use Tums or Prilosec...I have stuck with tums tho. It doesn't take it away completely but helps a little.

My doctor told me I can take Prilosec OTC everyday for preventative measures. My acid reflux was sooo terrible it would keep me up at night and I would just eat tums. I'm almost 39 weeks and it has subsided these last 2-3 weeks on it's own, thank goodness.

I have to take Prilosec every night before bed because mine is so bad, tums only worked for a little bit, I hate milk so I never tired it but I recommend Prilosec

Milk is slightly acidic! I take baking soda chased with water... it is definetely not as palatable as tums but works better than anything for me.

I'm 32 weeks also and I have the worst heartburn I've ever had every single day. I take tums if it gets really bad, but mostly I drink milk to help with the acid. I don't like to take medicine unless I have to, just a personal preference.

Prilosec or omperazole which is generic name works. I have to take it morning and night cuz I have heartburn so bad. That medicine is over the counter or you can have Dr get you a prescription for it if you have insurance that will pay.

I take prilosec otc. Doc said it's ok and no amount of tums, milk, water anything else worked. Prilosec started working the next day!

I have such bad acid reflex that I think I may die!!! Any suggestions besides tums??

I take prilosec. It's the ONLY thing that works for me. Tums is a temporary fix and milk is not good at all. Milk is actually acidic which makes it worse in the long run. But one prilosec daily I could eat whatever I wanted! It is pricey though but I promise its worth it! Tums is cheaper but there is a reason for that you know?

So she gave me 5 refills of prilosec and I love them .. I always k ow when I forfet to take it .. they work miracles!

Not taking the Prilosec until you have spoken about this with your doctor on Thursday as a wise idea - in the meantime, you can take tums (or a generic equivalent) to help w/ the heartburn. I hope you feel a little better soon.

tums work for a little bit but if it's really bad and constant you can take prilosec, it's safe for you and baby, I had to take it every night before bed from 18weeks until he was born

For heart burn I'm 21 weeks can I drink a little bit of baking soda or take a rantidine?????

i had to take a zantac in the morning then durring the day tums and then another zantac an hour befor i ate dinner and it still hurt to where i was crying some nights. and you best believe the old wives tell was true for me, my baby had a head full of hair and hasnt lost any of it.

Smoothies by tums are the only thing I tolerate. And lemonade. It's so strange. Lol but it works for me.

I belch a lot and I take 3-4 Tums a day, sometimes the Tums help other times they do not. I have also been having a burning sensation lower, around my belly button and lower. I have tried a lot of medications (Pepicd, Zantac, Prilosec, Aciphex and now Nexium). None have really helped that much.

I take tums and prilosec. My doctor ok'd these.

I had it and started with tums, then dr told me to try zantec which worked for a few weeks then stopped working so then she told me to try prilosec which has been good for a while now. Ask your dr 1st to be sure, because they may suggest different kinds or something.
