Also should add, treated with Cipro 500mg for 10 days and Biaxin 500mg for 21 days for sinus infection, during the time frame of possible std infection....would this cause a delay or would it actually cure the std infection, if there was one to begin with?

I am 3 months pregnant and am prone to sinus infections and it seems the only antibiotic that works for me is biaxin. I have a sinus infection now, is it safe to take biaxin 2 pills together for ten days?

He has been on 35+ antibotics for infections- pneumonia,bronchitis,ear infection, sinus infections etc. He was on an antibotic 2 weeks ago for an ear infect and 4 days ago he was coughing so bad his dr ordered sinus x ray and he has a bad maxillary infection on both sides. He has been taking Biaxin for 4 days now and is running 102.2 fever tonight. He has bad reflux- we had a ph probe study done. his sinuses are formed weird.

The doctor took blood and did a throat culture, in case I had strep or mono. Neither was present. BUT he gave me a different antibiotic for the sinus infection called Biaxin, for acute sinusitis, which has been working wonders after one day on it. But I just read that Biaxin is given to HIV/AIDS patients for Mycobacterium avium complex!!!! Is it possible that he did an HIV test without my knowledge and is now trying to treat me for it????

For the past week I have been taking an antibiotic called Biaxin (for a sinus infection) which I know can trigger yeast infections. I have had yeast infections before and some have been frightening and painful, but this feels a bit different.... There is no itchiness or discharge, but I have some redness and some concentrated red sores. There is also some pinching feeling on the skin. Does this sound like a herpes outbreak? Should I start taking my acyclovir?

Was in ER yesterday with chills, low grade fever (had for weeks), COUGH (had for weeks). Chest x-ray ok. Told to take Biaxin (2 500mg pills once a day for 3 weeks), along Prednisone Pack, and an inhaler CT Scan results: 1. Small focus of soft tissue density at the anterior left ethmoid sinus. 2. Mild mucosal thickening at the inferior left maxillary sinus and minimal degree of mucosal thickening of the superomedial left maxillary sinus.

I have always had some sort of sinus issues but nothing like in the last few months. In April I got a bad cold which turned into a sinus infections. I did 7 days of Ceftin (I know it should have been longer but it was killing my reflux) well, I ended up with a partially treated sinus inf so I then did 21 days of the Ceftin. It got better but then 10 days later started with horrible sinus headaches. Did another 21 days of Ceftin and then went to an ENT.

I would ask the doctor for a different type of antibiotic like Biaxin or Bactrum. It might help if you saw a pulmonologist for an accurate diagnosis and more effective treatment. Another idea is that you are having allergy issues. If you identify your allergen and practice avoidance measures, that could take care of the problem as well. If avoidance cannot be accomplished affective treatment of allergies will be necessary.

I was just on a 14 day course of Amoxicillin 750mg a day, for a sinus infection and was fine as far as any urine problems ... This morning i wake with the symptoms of a UTI and i have only been off the antibiotic for ONE day ... Is this a totally separate problem, and do i have to go back on the antibiotic? Please help!

I have a bunch of symptoms that im afraid may indicate something serious. blotchy rash on my neck, chest palms and groin; loss of sensation and discoloration of my penis; cold sweats; constipation and difficulty urinating w no pain involved. I've had a sinus infection and ear infection for sometime now but just started taking biaxin yesterday. Not much improvement..could I have some kidney or liver issues due to years of cocaine abuse?

they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.

I have been frequently prescribed antibiotics (no penicilin or sulfa as I have been allergic since a child) over the past two years for having several bouts of sinus infections, throat infections and bronchitis symptoms. Suddenly, since April I started developing strange symptoms while taking any antibiotic. The antibiotics I've taken since April are Avelox, Zithromax, Clindamycin and Biaxin (all of which I haven taken previously over the years w/ no problems).

just one last point, the biaxin and amoxicilian were taken at different times around 2-3 months apart. Biaxin was for a Resp infection and the amoxicilian was for my saliva gland issue. These all have been taken throughtout the last year since exposure. Would Biaxin or amoxicial cure syphlis by themselves?. no more questions from me so I would like to thank you for your time!.

I am a man. Next day, having been prescribed Biaxin for bronchitis, I took four 500 mg pills at once. I know this was foolish, but I had panicked. 5 days later I developed an infected ingrown hair at the base of my penis. I am over forty, and I believe I know an ingrown hair when I see one - when I take Biaxin I get them all over my legs. Next day, the bump had not opened up into an ulcer. I saw a hair growing out of the middle of it, and squeezed the bump.

I've had a sore throat off and on (mostly on) for about 3 weeks now. I went to the doctor last Friday and was prescribed Biaxin 500mg twice per day. I've been doing this for 5 days now and there's been no improvement. The pain seems to move around my throat and neck area but its always intense. the doctor and I decided that I should try a differnt antibiotic so we switched to the Generic form of Biaxin.... Clarithromycin...... I was on it for 2 months and dropped 18 pounds and 3/4 of my hair..... we pulled out what was in the shower drain alone and you could of made a wig out of it pretty much...... the only other symptoms I had while on this medicine apart from the hair loss is that my hands would swell and night......I had excessive bruising all over.....

I had chronic sinus infections for years until I had sinus surgery abut nine years ago. Since then I have maybe one a year compared to ten a year. Every MRI I have had reveals a Thornwaldt Cyst. I don't know if that helps at all but I thought I would chime in with my experience. I also use a sinus rinse the second I start feeling sick. I also take a Claritin every night during allergy time. Hope some of that help you after you get over this bout. It just some maintenance advice.

I had a cough and congestion for about 3 weeks before the doctor was able to diagnose me with a sinus infection. He gave me 875mg of Amoxicillin-twice a day for 10 days along with ZyrtecD and Mucinex. I finished the antibiotic and one of the others at the same time. Two days later, I was still coughing--post nasal drip. I had finished all the meds so I bought some more Mucinex and started that again. In another 2 days I was still had post nasal drep so I started Claritin.

Hello, Routinely vibramycin(tetracycline) is not prescribed for sinus infections as the antibiotics of choice for sinusitis are usually penicillins,macrolides,fluorquinolones or cepahalosporins.However if you want to take tetracycline antibiotics,then pls inform your PCP about it before taking it. i'm 23y/o i live in alaska and i've been using a cpap machine for about a year now. in the past 2 months i've had 2 sinus infections. i have never had a sinus infection prior to this. Can this be due to my cpap machine?

Hi, I battle lot's of infections, mainly sinus/upper respiratory, almost monthly, my wbc is not high but always elevated. Was sent to hematology, but clinic only deals with blood cancers, which I do not have. Antibiotics work, Amoxicillin, Bactrim, etc.... but infections always returns. What physician or specialty clinic, deals with chronic infections ? So, I can discuss with my primary doctor for referral, thanks.

I had 2 women perform oral sex on me and about 2-3 months later I had a chest cold and my doctor gave me biaxin 2x500mg a day for 10 days. then a few months later had amoxicillian 3x500mg a day for 10 days for another unrelated infection (my docs loves to give antibiotics) If I did get a std like gonnerea or clymidia or anything else that is bacterial would the biaxin get rid of it?...keep in mind I have had no unprotested sexual intercourse just received oral from a women.

3) WHen you comment on Biaxin...you say the normal dose for most infections would clear these infections...is 1g a day for 10 days a good dose or is a low dose?..I have only had it once so I am not sure what is considered a high or low dose. 4) as I have read 10% of men may have no symptoms...is it beleived that they do but maybe ignored?...IN your practice do you see pretty typical symptoms for gonnerhea?
