Avatar m tn Also should add, treated with Cipro 500mg for 10 days and Biaxin 500mg for 21 days for sinus infection, during the time frame of possible std infection....would this cause a delay or would it actually cure the std infection, if there was one to begin with?
Avatar f tn The doctor took blood and did a throat culture, in case I had strep or mono. Neither was present. BUT he gave me a different antibiotic for the sinus infection called Biaxin, for acute sinusitis, which has been working wonders after one day on it. But I just read that Biaxin is given to HIV/AIDS patients for Mycobacterium avium complex!!!! Is it possible that he did an HIV test without my knowledge and is now trying to treat me for it????
Avatar m tn I have a bunch of symptoms that im afraid may indicate something serious. blotchy rash on my neck, chest palms and groin; loss of sensation and discoloration of my penis; cold sweats; constipation and difficulty urinating w no pain involved. I've had a sinus infection and ear infection for sometime now but just started taking biaxin yesterday. Not much improvement..could I have some kidney or liver issues due to years of cocaine abuse?

He has been taking Biaxin for 4 days now and is running 102.2 fever tonight. He has bad reflux- we had a ph probe study done. his sinuses are formed weird. Avatar m tn Because my bronchitis had gone away only to develop into a sinus infection, I was prescribed Doxy 100mg / 2x / day for five days, which I took religiously according to instructions. Now, 2 weeks after appearing, the bump is still there. Foolishly I keep squeezing it; on the days when I don't it shrinks with a (closed, not ulcerous head). I'm going to leave it alone from now on, but here is my question finally: Does this sound like a chancre?
Avatar n tn I have two failed implants due to infection which did not respond to Clindamycin. I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill. My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections???? Thank you.
721523 tn?1331581802 We discussed that I have had a sinus infection since August. He checked my IgG level. He also told me no less than 4 time to go to my ENT, NOW. I have an appointment with the ent tomorrow. The solumedrol allowd me to catch the virus that my baby had. Combine that with a sinus infection that has already survived 3 rounds of antibiotics and well I ended up in the Inturnests office. I wasx only able to see the NP that day. She gave me biaxin. I stayed sick, with green smelly junk.
Avatar n tn Mild mucosal thickening at the inferior left maxillary sinus and minimal degree of mucosal thickening of the superomedial left maxillary sinus. There is a tiny focus within the anterior right sphenoid sinus and the posteromedial left frontal sinus. 3. Asymmetric enlargement of the inferior left nasal turbinate. There is a left concha bullosa. There is mild septal deviation towards the right. Where do we go from here to get some relief? She is in college and struggling.
Avatar m tn Regarding your second question, STIs often do clear themselves over time HOWEVER, before that happens, infected persons can transmit infection to others or have complications of infection. Thus when a person is treated, it is best to treat the infection rather than try to wait it out.
862235 tn?1336060295 Hello and hope you are doing well. Recurrent sore throat could be due to post nasal drip, which can cause a chronic irritation in the throat. This could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It's unlikely to be due to cancer. So, don't worry, but when in doubt best to have it checked. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
1236313 tn?1295726268 If your doctor is prescribing antibiotics, and they are working a little but not a lot, then the doctor has diagnosed a sinus infection. The reason the antibiotics may not be working is that infected mucus becomes encapsulated and antibiotics won't penetrate it. The Mayo Clinic figured this out, and I found a way to remove the infected mucus.
Avatar n tn For the past week I have been taking an antibiotic called Biaxin (for a sinus infection) which I know can trigger yeast infections. I have had yeast infections before and some have been frightening and painful, but this feels a bit different.... There is no itchiness or discharge, but I have some redness and some concentrated red sores. There is also some pinching feeling on the skin. Does this sound like a herpes outbreak? Should I start taking my acyclovir?
Avatar f tn I was just on a 14 day course of Amoxicillin 750mg a day, for a sinus infection and was fine as far as any urine problems ... This morning i wake with the symptoms of a UTI and i have only been off the antibiotic for ONE day ... Is this a totally separate problem, and do i have to go back on the antibiotic? Please help!
Avatar m tn I just moved to Denver from Chicago. Right before we left, I could tell I had a sinus infection, as I have a long history of sinus issues. I also have stomach issues, history of a couple ulcers. A couple of ENT's have told me I have obvious signs of GERD, though I don't often have indigestion, sometimes I can taste acid in the morning. Anyway, I saw a doc when I arrived in Denver and she gave me Biaxin for the sinus infection. Only it doesn't seem to have cleared up.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have a bacterial infection that is not being properly treated. I would ask the doctor for a different type of antibiotic like Biaxin or Bactrum. It might help if you saw a pulmonologist for an accurate diagnosis and more effective treatment. Another idea is that you are having allergy issues. If you identify your allergen and practice avoidance measures, that could take care of the problem as well.
Avatar n tn when I engaged in receiving oral sex from a female in Tampa,Fla. 3 days after the event I had a sinus infection and was prescribed 500mg er Clarithromycin for 7 days. Avatar n tn On that Tuesday, I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Bronchitis and a sinus infection. WBC was 15000. I received a Rocephin and Decadron injection and was placed on Biaxin for 10days. I still have a low grade temp (not less than 99.4) and also have joint pain and night sweats. I went to my gynecologist for my yearly checkup and told him all this and he drew another CBC. He mentioned a systemic infection as well as possible lymphoma or leukemia.
Avatar n tn A sinus infection due to a tooth infection is usually in the maxillary sinues, so a Neilmed Sinus Rinse is probably best for you--available at drugstores for about $13
Avatar m tn I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?
Avatar n tn Yeah, dig. Thanks, elltkeen. There's a possibility that you have a fungal infection, which is very common in seemingly incurable sinusitis, according to the Mayo Clinic. The lead doctor in the study, Dr. Jens Ponikau, patented the idea of a nasal anti-fungal spray, but he's still working on it.
