Avatar f tn (= I would recommend getting it because not getting it could be worse for you and your baby if you do end up getting the flu! Fevers are bad and the flu is not something to mess around with....
Avatar f tn I know its supposed to help the baby come flu season but im so regretting it right now! Ive been extremely sick for the last 3 days- throwing up, diarrhea, whole body aches, and extreme tiredness...on top of already not feeling good. Im so over it. Im trying to remember the positive but right now im having a hard time.
Avatar f tn I got the flu shot and after 2 weeks I went to my dr and she said I had the stomach flue.. so I would go to your dr to get checked. ..
Avatar f tn I got the flu shot as fevers can cause brain damage to baby! I keep reading though that the flu shot this year isnt effective to the strains that are making everyone sick right now... so never hurts to call the dr to see what they want you to do. Better to be safe than sorry!
Avatar f tn The flu shot isn't as strong this year. We found that out after we got ours.
1117137 tn?1345227905 While I have never gotten a flu shot before I am throwing around the idea of getting it this year just because I am pregnant. I haven't talked to my OB about it, but I think I am going to ask about it at my next appointment just to get her views on it. I understand where you're apprehensive because I'm feeling the same way, but to look back at last year at all of the nasty cases that were in my area I would hate to deal with that as well.

Avatar f tn Yes it can happen.. sounds like a stomach bug. Have you gotten your flu shot yet? I just got mine and they give you a " special " flu shot for preggo mommy's. I would drink plenty of water, and get as much rest as possible. But do keep in mind, as for my self, diarrhea + throwing up is common in pregnancy. I experiencedo it a month ago . Still experiencing the throwing up. "Morning sickness" but when in doubt call your ob midwife.
Avatar f tn I witness my bEstfriend get extremely sick 3 hours after his first flu shot. I just try to stay healthy by washing my hands, eating right and exercising.
303706 tn?1296876149 But from the sounds of your description, you are beyond over the counter remedies. You should call your Dr. You may have the flu. Have you had your flu shot yet???
Avatar f tn Is there anything scientifically to back that up? I wasn't going to get the flu shot but if it protects my baby after he's born I will definitely do it!
Avatar f tn This whole pregNancy I havnt thrown up.. well after dinner I wasn't feeling good so went to lay down well ive been up puking my guts up and my tummy still hurts!! It's only 1127 here.
11129330 tn?1430878608 This year's flu shot is not the right strain of flu. Getting the flu shot this year won't protect you from the strain of flu going around... it's been all over the news..
Avatar f tn t get the nasal spray it contains the live virus.
Avatar f tn My doctor keeps telling me that I should get the flu shot im 24 weeks pregnant and everytime I got the flu shot before I was pregnant I would always get sick im not sure if I should get one because I can't take meds.
Avatar f tn You do not want to chance baby getting the flu. Their immune systems are much weaker than ours and it will effect them a lot worse than it would us. If you get the shot, then so does baby while theyre in your belly and it'll help them to build their immune system. Also, if your sick, so is baby.
Avatar f tn The flu shot pretty much puts the flu in your body. A lot of ppl get sick after getting it. Most doc say you already had a cold coming before hand. I've always been against it but I have to receive the shot for my job on Fri and I'm dreading if I'm gonna get sick or not. I think the exact same does it even work or do u have to have it first.
Avatar f tn Hey all My hubby is sick with the flu and chest infection I am worried not only about him but also about the baby if I catch it, I've tried staying away but his since started throwing up and had gotten it where I needed to clean it up I know it's likely I will get sick but would the flu hurt the baby
Avatar n tn The flu shot does not cause the flu. If you get the flu after getting the shot you either had the flu before the shot, it wasn't in your system good when you got it, or you caught a strain they didn't make a vaccine for. I would rather get the shot and know I am trying to prevent myself from getting sick and giving it to my baby. The flu is deadly for infants. It's just like the whooping cough shot. Both are very important.
Avatar f tn then with in 2 weeks i had a cold and a sickness bug (the most illnesses ive had in about 10 years!) So i went back and said yes please give me the shot!!
Avatar f tn Im 7 weeks and i got the flu shot today, is that bad for my baby or it doesnt really effect my baby??
6470732 tn?1439556292 I'm 23 weeks and got my flu shot at my appointment today. I asked him if it was recommended because I was a little scared of it affecting my baby. XD Then I realized he wouldn't ask if I wanted it if it wasn't safe. He actually listed all these studies and FDA approvals and it made me feel better. I get rotated through 3 doctors and he's the 2nd one I've seen. I've only ever seen one guy up until this point.
Avatar f tn you either had the flu or something else before you got the shot. it takes two weeks for the flu shot to work, so you can still end up getting the flu. i personally dont believe in shots, but ive still done researce all the same. try going to the CDC website. im not sure if its .org or .gov. should clear up your questions.
Avatar f tn s a requirement for employment... But I ended up getting the flu that year right after the shot. Stupid. Anyway... I think that if you keep up with your antioxidants and vitamin c you should be better off. I was worried for a while during my pregnancy bc like you said everyone pushes the flu shot on you... My midwife never told me to get it...
Avatar f tn t vouch for tdap, but I had a flu shot two months ago and have had absolutely no side effects. Up until a week ago, I worked full time as a supervisor in a retail enviroment, surrounds by customers and about 80 staff on a given day, and didn't go down sick even when everyone else did. A lot of the fear mongering regarding vaccines fail to use actual science, and for shots that may actually have adverse effects, fail to take into account the good that vaccines do.
Avatar f tn My doctor also pushed for me to get a flu shot. I have a pretty pathetic immune system and I usually get sick after getting the shot but I agreed due solely to the fact that babies can be immunized till they're 6 months old and if they do get the flu it almost garuntees a hospital stay for them. I couldnt imagine my baby going through that so I ended up getting the shot and I actually haven't gotten sick yet.
5770739 tn?1382315166 The flu shot is for respiratory flu, not for the stomach flu. A girl I knew got the flu toward the end of her pregnancy and it turned into pneumonia and she had to have an emergency c section at like 30 weeks and she ended up passing away from it never having been able to hold her baby because they had to put her in a medical induced coma. That being said, I have gotten a flu shot with every pregnancy and every year to protect my little ones with weak immune systems.
Avatar f tn I never get the flu but my doctor told me to get it last pregnancy when I was about 30 weeks and I did. I ended up getting the flu after the shot. Never got sick when I didn't get it so this pregnancy I'm 14 weeks and I'm not getting it.
