577106 tn?1219839345 Thanks for sharing. Sorry it has taken me a bit to respond. I've not felt very well for the past couple of days. I hadn't even been on the computer to check my email since Friday. I did end up calling my doctor back because the sore on my leg still has not healed and I have been on tetracycline since 8-11. I am 10 doses into my third round and she (the doc) said if it wasn't healed by the end of this dose I would have to come back in.
Avatar n tn They placed a rod in the tibia and did nothing with the fibula. Now I have a staph infection. I was put on augmentin and now the doctor says the results of the culture will not be accurate. Is there any way I can find out for sure if the infection is in the bone or has contaminated the rod? My doctor wants to do surgery to replace the rod.
Avatar n tn The blisters came back about a month after and then i did a culture and results came back three weeks ago revealing yeast and staph bacteria.I was given diflucan for the yeast for me and my girlfriend and augmentin 625mg for the staph.Meanwhile on treatment the blisters came back on same side of penis but moving closer to head of penis. My girlfriend also did a blood test-results came back a week ago showing positive Igg test.So i also did another blood test and am awaiting results.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
250701 tn?1320974765 My lung Doctor called me in some augmentin because I have been coughing up thick yellow mucus. I just don't know if I can take it on treatment. Does anyone know??
Avatar f tn First complaint of pain from the area in 2005. Hospitalized for two weeks for this emergency. Coumadin was taken for 4 years to prevent blood clotting. What am I left to do? My health has not been favorable and I need answers. Could there be something that I am not being told??? I don't have HIV or any other immune decreasing infections. The pus filled sores started on my leg on 9/11 and were thought to be nothing but a rash with pain. It has spread to the left cheek/jaw line.
Avatar f tn The Doxy made a difference and the inflammation/redness got better within days. This was for treating Staph but from reading your comments...perhaps Doxy could help with GM? Right now am still on both Cipro and Doxy but am dealing with pus forming with 2 burst sites. Surgeon wants to see me again on Monday to determine if I need to go to Operation Room for incision to really clean out all pus and packing/dressing afterwards. I am feeling petrified since I do not want to be cut open...
Avatar n tn t yet developed the infection, as would be indicated by the presence of a lesion or a positive blood test, than it takes for curative treatment. The augmentin taken twice daily for two weeks would certainly cure and prevent development of syphilis. The combination of cefixime and azithromycin would most probably prevent infection but it would not be curative if the infection was established.
Avatar m tn I should add that I was prescribed Augmentin at the same time post operatively for a knee arthroscope and wondered whether this could interfere with the efficacy of the azithromycin?
Avatar m tn Sorry it took so long to get back to you, but we have been on a series of Septra and Augmentin since I posted. I took him the same day. Doc was thinking the same thing, sebaceous cyst, staph infection, or some other type of infection. So, we have been giving anti's and it seems to be going away. Again, thank you so much for replying. I have never been here before, but I certainly will return. Ya'll have a great day!
Avatar f tn Well, your results will be interesting. You can have an infection that isn't MRSA or staph. My only experience with staph was my son who did get a nasty staph infection from a small rug burn type of injury on his leg at school. He bandaged it himself after showing it to me and I didn't really worry about it. A week later, wowza. It was a festering crater. We went to the doctor who gave a topical antibiotic cream.
Avatar n tn //www.medhelp.org/drugs/Augmentin/show/5288 It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
Avatar f tn Although Augmentin kills certain types of bacteria and is used for lower respiratory, ear, urinary and sinus bacterial infections, does not necessarily mean it will get help a sore throat. To find out what type of bacteria is causing the sore throat and which antibiotic will kill that bacteria is to get a swab taken of your throat to identify the bacteria and then the correct antibiotic will be prescribed.
Avatar f tn 4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness. Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
Avatar n tn My boyfriend was prescribed 1 gram of Augmentin twice daily for 3 weeks for acute bacterial prostatitis. He hasn't actually received his urine test results yet though, so not sure what type of bacteria it actually is. Is this an appropriate treatment?
Avatar f tn If you have a viral tonsillitis, it will get better on its own in time (about the same time that was quoted for the Augmentin!). But you are also taking Augmentin. So, won't it be tempting to say that the Augmentin is what made you better? We'll never know. It's not necessarily a bad idea, taking both -- especially if they are truly unsure and they're trying to get you better as fast as possible.
Avatar f tn I have staph infection a little above my pelvis but on my stomach. I was 3 days late for my period when j went to the doctors and they prescribed me antibiotics. I took a pregnancy test and it showed up negative but I am now 5 days late. Could this be from the staph infection??
Avatar m tn here were my symptoms: frequent urination, incomplete emptying, abdominal/pelvic pain, uti symptoms worse than any uti I had ever had, and yes brain fog. I also had blood in my urine but no "infection". If you think you have ic you have to see a urologist to diagnose. They do a laporoscopy under general anesthesia and look for hunners ulcers.
Avatar f tn Hi, Recurrent boils or furunculosis are skin abscesses that may be caused by the Staph bacteria. In between outbreaks of boils, the bacteria responsible (staph) is still present on your body and thus may lead to recurrence. Talk to your doctor of a possibility of a chronic staph carrier so that proper prophylaxis may be done. Physicians have tried eradicating the staph by simply applying an antibiotic to the nose each month, and this approach sometimes is successful.
Avatar n tn I recently took augmentin for three days, had to discontinue because of allergic reaction ( rash, jitters, fever) Today I awoke with a stiff neck which progressively became worse as the day went on. Now 12 hours later the pain has spread down my back and to all my joints. Could this bee the Augmentin or something more severe. This discussion is related to severe sudden onset of joint pain in all joints.
Avatar f tn I have white/clear mucous and have used augmentin and azithromax one course after another (augmentin first and then azithromax) given by my doctor but the cough is not gone. My chest x ray is normal but the doctor could not do a pft because of my continuous cough at that time. My blood work for pneumonia diabetes and cholesterol are all good. sinus CT scan is normal too. Is this viral is it okay to take several months for cough to go away. I have no wheezing or asthma history.
