1. Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others. 2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store). 3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store. 4.
Help with withdraws from Hydrocodone by JDub26 Send Message View Profile JDub26 26 years old Radford - VA , 7 minutes ago Ok well I really don't know what to put, this is my first time on this website I was just looking around to see what would help me with the withdraws. I had cancer 5 years ago and the dr put me on hydrocodone 10/500 mg. I was taking 6 a day like the dr told me to do. Even the days that I'm not hurting I've took them to make me feel better.
I had been prescribed hydrocodone for back pain. Because of the sleepiness and other effects that it had on me while taking it... I quit. I felt like a zombie. Since then however, I've had stomache cramping, sweating, shaking and even irritability. I've tried calling my doctor and all I get is, "He'll call you back." I know that what I'm taking is a narcotic, and can be dangerous if I become addicted. At this point I'm just terrified of whats happening since I stopped.
I have been taking hydrocodone for nerve damage relating to a cancer operation three years ago. I took the last of my medication today and fear the withdrawls that I feel coming on. What can I do to help ease the pain, dizzyness, and other symptoms that accompany the withdrawls? Thank You.
Got addicted to hydrocodone due to back problem. Been taking about 6 months. What can I do to relieve withdrawal symptoms? especially depression and sweats.
Now I took Hydrocodone along-side ativan. It is possible I guess, that my dependency on Hydrocodone, made it possible to jump off of Ativan w/ no trouble.
I am desperately trying to taper myself off of hydrocodone. I am so sick of this medication. I tried cold turkey and ended up in the hospital. They sent me home with 60 10mg. and 10 ativan. I was taking 240 mg. a day. Which was prescribed for me. In the past two days I've cut down to 120. I don't know how to procede from here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have chronic back pain, stenosos, degenerative bone disease, and severe sciatica.
Ive had lots of pain, but this is a walk in the park compared to chemo. Is it gonna get worse? Im taking ativan every night to sleep, will that be hard to withdraw from? I havent taken any vicodin since saturday night! Someone tell me to flush my bottle please!!!
Hello all... I am now on my second day of coming off hydrocodone 10/325. I was taking anywhere from 10 to 15 a day and absolutely had to have them! I would wake up and immeadiately chew 4 of them just to wake up! I chewed them so they would get into my system much faster.... I have read many answers on this forum and some have been very helpful. I don't know the best way to detox from home. I do not have any med insurance and have been taking these little jewels for about 1 year.

This includes drugs such as tramadol (Ultracet and Ultram) codeine (Tylenol #3, #4), Darvocet, Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Norco, Lortab and derivatives), Oxycodone (Endocet, Percocet, Oxycontin), Morphine, Demerol. Fentanyl, and Dilaudud. There are many other opiates not listed, so if you don’t see it listed, you can still use these suggestions if it’s an opiate based addiction. None of these apply to benzodiazepine based addictions. These addictions should never be dealt with by going cold turkey.
Been taking 800mg ibuprofen because the back pain is back a little bit and I am afraid of headaches, and ativan as an aid.
Have been taking between 30-60mg of Hydrocodone per day for the past two years. Ran out and can't get any from the usual sources. Today is the first day in two years that I haven't had any. Rough day! I ache like crazy, my back hurts and I am so tired I can barely stay awake. No time like the present to try to kick this habit once and for all. I need to know what to expect though and how long these symptoms will last. I also developed cold-like symptoms today - can't quit sneezing.
Two months ago my mother in law had emergency surgery and was in the hospital for a month. She was on morphine and then on Hydrocodone. She came home and we are constantly going back and forth to the er. On our last vist she was out of pain meds and told me to take her to the er as she was having chest pains and shortness of breath. The dr. sent her home Friday night. We got her script filled at 11:30 pm of Hydrocodone 10/500 she had 30 pills. Monday morning she only had 2 left.

I am scared to death.. No one but my doctor knows I take these but I can't imagine getting up in the morning without them. for the past 3 months ive been taking about 120mg hydrocodone a day (12 norcos) which is 120mg hydrocodone and 3900mg acetominophen(tylenol) ive been taking this along with 80mg diazepam (8 10mg pills to sleep/get high) and it was getting bad.... i was crushing em up and high 24-7. lately ive been doing what i thought was tapering off, by going from 12 to 11 to 10 etc on a daily basis....just dropping a pill a day.
Following an injury, I have taken Hydrocodone up to 8 times per day for over 14 months. I am a 53 year old male. I just underwent anterior cervical fusion, C4-5 and C5-6. I am getting very anxious about every three hours, but don't have a lot of pain. When I try to go for four to five hours I nearly go nuts. I understand that there is a detox system of three days using a program of 3 tablets of something the first day, 2 the second and 1 the third. I am very interested in this.
I've been doing hydrocodone/apap 10/650 for 3 years now. I started out only doing 10 a month and have worked up to 10 a day! I recently lost my job (due in part to Sept.11) so I no longer have health insurance and, of course, not enough money coming in to support this habit. I was no longer getting "high" on this amount and just do not want to continue this whole addiction anyway. I tried to find Thomas's detox recipe but could not.
you will get alot of differing views on "how many" hydrocodone are enough. It's tough because if you're an addict one is good, two is better, then pretty soon you're up to a lovely 25/day. If you cannot tolerate the pain without narcs you should set a limit of how many you will take daily......not more than 4,5,6. You will still have withdrawals even from these low numbers, but mixed with antiinflamatories(from your doc.) you should be able to get substantial relief.
I want to withdraw from Hydrocodone. I've been on pain meds steadily for 2 years. A year and a half ago, I came off cold turkey from Percocet which I had been using for 6 weeks. It was the worst experience of my life. Physical symptoms were horrible, but the depression was worst. I have always struggled with depression and take effexor. I have used the drugs to self-medicate. Lately i've been taking Vicodin ES. It no longer gives me that HAPPY feeling just keeps me going.
I have been taking hydrocodone for about 2 1/2 years at an increasing rate, ending up with the 7.5 strength and about 18-20 per day. I do have severe arthitis pain and am a 51 year old woman. I have to cut down and recently cut down to 10 a day and have experienced physical and emotional withdrawal symptoms. I have some clonidine and don't know how much to take for withdrawal. What is the recommended dosage.
Hello everyone i know this is kinda of a old post, but anyways i recently ran out of my Soma 350mg, Ativan 2mg and Hydrocodone 10/325mg.... I ran out of all 3 medications on the same day on 5-18-2010. I have been taking Ativan 3 times ED, Soma 3 times ED and Hydrocodone 4 times ED for 3 months 120days.....
CAN I SAFELY TAKE XANAX FOR A FEW WEEKS/MONTHS IN PLACE OF ATIVAN WITHOUT ATIVAN WITHDRAWAL; IS XANAX ON THE SAME ADDICTION LEVEL AS VICODIN. I WAS ABLE TO WEAN OFF AFTER TAKING IT FOR A MONTH AFTER SURGERY LAST SPRING. DO YOU THINK XANAX WILL BE MORE HELPFUL IN CONTROLING THE ANXIETY/SLEEP PROBLEM? I WAS PRESCRIBED 0.5 AND INTEND ON STARTING ON 1/2 OF THAT. DO YOU STILL FEEL THE PROZAC WILL ONCE AGAIN WORK FOR ME? IS TAKING IT AT NIGHT O.K.?
I've heard that ativan is actually the worst for you from several doctors but was only trying to get users experience. With xanax I can still function great at work and I've heard valium and ativans just knock you out and tranquilize you to the state of uselessness.
I just quit taking Hydrocodone 8 to 10 per day. Dr. gave me Ativan. Not helping a great deal. Can't sleep. Have cold/flu like symptoms. Anybody know how long this will last?

I have been detoxing at home for about 4 days now from hydrocodone. this time around i was taking about 30 to 40 pills a day. maybe its because i was taking so many and have been doing this cold turkey its worse this time. i can not keep food down and i do not have enough energy to even get out of bed. is the a vitamin or fruit i can take that will help. i have zero energy and i can't eat anything including brkfast lunch and dinner.
Someone, please tell me that I will be o.k. I was chewing Hydrocodone like candy for the last 9 months and decided to quit on my own on 12/30/07. I have never experienced such horror in my life! Delusional, crying, out of touch, unable to leave the bedroom, much less, leave the house. Unable to carry on conversation. Quit Nursing job. I am determined to beat this. BUT, what I am afraid of is the following: "Am I through the worst part of this?
