Can i take ativan with zoloft

Common Questions and Answers about Can i take ativan with zoloft

Avatar f tn I know it can take a month or more) and when I'll be able to NOT use the Ativan. I only take a quarter of a pill---a half of a half so it's really not much but that seems to help. I have heard it is very addictive so I really don't like taking it at all but seem to feel better when I do. Thanks for any help.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me zoloft and i was told i can only take it during my second trimester and when i hit my 3rd i have to stop i take it for severe anxiety and panic attacks i tried everything to avoid having to take the pills because i feel guilty and dont want to hurt my baby my doctor said that the anxiety doesnt help the baby so if the pills help keep me calm than its worth it!
Avatar m tn Both gave me horrible side effects. The she prescribed me .5 Ativan and Lexapro. Ativan works for a little bit but whenever I take .5 mg of Lexapro it seems to exaggerate the anxiety. I started taking the medications for 4 days now . Is it possible to have any withdrawal symptoms from taking Ativan? I am determined to find something like herbal supplements to help me with the anxiety. Please help me. Thank you.
Avatar n tn They are very addictive and even at low doses they can be dangerous to withdraw from. ativan is the same thing. I was pointing out to you that you should proceed, just with caution. I am a 45 year anxiety survivor. I know how we look for help, sometimes after years we take matters into our own hands and look for help ourselves. Yes ativan is a good medicine to treat anxiety and it does have a proper value in our community.
Avatar f tn I have been on xanax in the past and i felt that worked immediately, and i liked that i was able to take as needed, but with the Ativan i have to take it twice a day, I'm confused?? Also, i know its a tricky situation because i am newly recovered from opiates, but i just cant handle not taking anything.
400350 tn?1201715282 I take Ativan, but very rarely. I got a little dizzy and wobbly the first time I took it. After that, I've been fine. I do get very sleepy and the effects (feeling calm and in control) lasts about two to three days. I only take it when I know I'm going to be confronted with something huge (ex: public speech, workshop, or etc). It's not meant to be taken everyday; only when necessary. If you take it as directed, then you won't have any problems.
Avatar m tn If I can help you it all I would say to get off the ativan asap. I was on it for about 6 months and found that if I didnt take it I would have worse anxity attacks than before i was on it. I had to slowly come off of it and it was horrable. I had very bad rebound attacks. Please google ativan and read all you can on what it does and the side affect. As for the zoloft good luck, I was on a few differnt kinds of AD's so it may take a few trys to find one that works for you. I wish you luck.
Avatar m tn The SNRI's like Effexor are a little less stimulating and provide better relief for anxiety, in my opinion. I am presently on Celexa because of insomnia with Zoloft and sleep issues with Effexor XR. I have taken Klonopin for a few years and it is a Godsend. My present Doc doesn't like benzos so I have gone from 2mgs a day to less than 1mg a day. It gets a little hairy if you taper too quickly so I'm taking it slow. You need to also. If you try too quickly you will just give up.
Avatar n tn I take Zoloft too. I can only handle the 25 mg. I began having panic attacks when I got sick from having a diseased gallbladder. The panic attacks continued after my surgery. The Zoloft that I take (I have to take it in the mornings or I can not sleep at night) makes me nauseated in the mornings if I do not eat a piece of toast or something with it. But, the other sides effects like nervouseness, loss in interest of intimacy, loss of apetite....I still have these.
Avatar m tn you still need to learn how to COPE with the anxiety. How long were you on the Zoloft? I suspect probably not long enough to really give it a try, which is very common with these types of meds. The bothersome side effects often lead people to throw the towel in before truly giving it a chance. Most people see a vast improvement of the side effects after a few weeks, and eventually, when the body adjusts to the med, they go away completely.
Avatar f tn I have been on zoloft for years and when I have had to change doses I do not have any side effects as long I take my meds consistently, and step the meds up or down how my doctor says.
1880256 tn?1322573508 The dosesage of that is 0.5mg. I usually take about 2 a week. So do you think I am depended on the Zoloft now? I have tried 2 other times going off it and ended right back on. But this time it was very bad trying to get off. I don't want to ever go throught that again.
1744083 tn?1311269041 my doctor says, to take an ativan as a trial sort of thing so that I know it works.. eg take one on a night I am with someone and see what it does. Thing is, I only want to try it when Im having an attack. my main fear is that it will bring more fear on.
Avatar f tn 5 mg zoloft for 2 weeks and 25 mg for 1 week. I am starting to feel better. I also take .25 mg of ativan as needed which lately is only once or twice a day. I take the zoloft in morning and have insomnia since starting it. Been on 5 mg Ambien per psychiatrist during work week. I am worried about sleeping with the Ambien as also only 4-6 hours sleep and being addicted. I see my psychiatrist next week and I am going to voice my concerns.
Avatar m tn I have noticed a marked increase in my anxiety the last 3 days, and I was warned to expect it by my doc. He gave me ativan to take up to 1 mg per day as needed. I have needed 0.5 mg each morning since starting the zoloft. A couple of days I took a second 0.5 mg in the afternoon. I am really hoping for a pay off at some point. Is the increase really typical? Is the ativan use at my dosage and frequency safe? I don't know how I would be doing without it and hard cardio everyday.
Avatar n tn not if i can help it, which is why i am reaching out for all the info i can get about what is happening to my body and mind. from what i read, i am a classic textbook withdrawl sufferer. do you concur with this? can you please advise me on whether or not these symptoms (especially the dizziness, a feeling of extreme lightheadedness and lightness in my limbs, and the gas). i have been experiencing those for about 3 nights now and so far, all day today.
Avatar m tn and getting on Ativan for the short term, until the higher dose of Zoloft starts registering in my body. The anxiety is so bad I can barely sleep and that just adds to the worry and leaves me more susceptible to anxiety attacks. Has anyone else heard of this "strategy" of taking Ativan to curb anxiety attacks until the increased dosage of my Zoloft kicks in to calm me down? Please help!
Avatar m tn Ultimate goal is to just use a benzo on an as needed basis. I know the short half life of meds like ativan and xanax can make them addicting but I know .75mg is a small dose so I am not sure if I am going to cause more problems in the long run.
Avatar f tn I have been on ativan for the past 7 years started with 0.5 sublingual and through the years I have reached and prescribed to take 1mg 3 times daily. My body does not do well if I run out and want to get off this stuff. My doctor has me on Zoloft and now clonazepam .5mgs. Being on ativan has made me need more and more as my body is getting immunity. This week I there was issues filling my prescription and I had already been out for 3 days. I had to wait 3 more days for them to fill it.
Avatar n tn I consulted with my mom, who is a nurse, and she said that if I felt comfortable weaning down then to take an Ativan or she said I could take a Valium to help calm me down. I'm not really sure what to do. Part of me doesn't want to take another Ativan because I really don't want to be taking it anymore and don't want to have to deal with being on it longer. This leads me to my questions. 1) How long would it take for Ativan to leave my system after taking 1.5mg a day for a month?
Avatar f tn I am taking the Vicodin for anxiety and my doctor DID prescribe it for that because I told him that when I took it when I had my wisdom teeth out, I found it helped with my social anxiety. I did try SSRIs but they made me feel really weird, spaced out and I couldn't focus at work. I agree with your advise to seek psychiatric help. I know I have coping problems. Thanks so much again for talking to me.
398624 tn?1266273049 The thought of losing ur mind is scary and that's just what it feels like!! After I left detox, I went back to the dr and she gave me tegretol and zoloft. I haven't taken either. Don't wanna add anything else 2 what I'm already dealing with. I no some ppl go thru psychosis and I'm terrified of that thought. Would I no if it were happening 2 me?? I have been off of Ativan for a little over a month and don't want 2 reinstate.
784382 tn?1376934640 I take Zoloft and I also have Xanax in case I need them. Zoloft is for the overall everyday long term treatment. Xanax (in case you haven't tried it) is for fast relief. When my panic and anxiety kicked in and I was waiting for the Zoloft to kick in, I had Xanax and took it 2 - 3 times a day. Then I decreased it to night time so I wouldn't wake up in an attack. Now that the Zoloft has kicked in full blown I only take 1/2 pill at night or so to sleep.
Avatar m tn i will not take a ssri, they have bad side affects for me and just dont like them i take ativan and klonopin only when needed .klonopin is a grerat drug it can be taken twice a day and it just keeps you calm . its a long term for anxiety and it does work, if you need something for anxiety ask about it , no side affects but tired for first week thats it . good luck and yes get moving it helps a lot.
Avatar f tn Yes with .5 mg Ativan not with .25 mg. but I can only take one Benadryl anyway as 2 gives me jitters. Tonight I will just take the Ativan. Hopefully get some sleep. The Zoloft in morning at least kept me awake during the day but now I am pretty tired. I was on Zoloft years ago and wasn't on Ativan. Hopefully next week can bump it to 25 mg like I was supposed to. Anxiety still there and I don't like to be on Ativan if I don't need to.
Avatar n tn I don't recollect making that recommendation as a general formula for avoiding the weight gain, but may have made that suggestion for a specific circumstance. At any rate, the weight gain comes from the stimulation of appetite, and the only way to avoid it is to control your portions, and exercise more, and be scrupulously attentive to the details of your eating so you don't use food to modulate your moods.. Emotional eating is the big problem, and if you want help with that, go to www.
Avatar f tn 5 ativan 3 times a day an 100 mg zoloft for over 2 years, I am having short term memory loss, and pain in my side, I get dizzy and stagger if I'm late taking a pill in the afternoon. The ativan, cause I only take zoloft once a day , in the morning. I am scared and don't know how to stop this.
Avatar f tn I have to be at work at 6 am so I take Zoloft 5am. My question is I don't drink any caffeine plus I don't have a good appetite. Does this get better and when I go back up to 25 mg will it start all over. I am super sensitive to medication and psychiatrist did put me on Doxepin but had bad tremors. I also get indigestion from the Zoloft and take a gas x an hr later has helped with that. I am new to this forum and glad though it is here.
Avatar m tn He basically said this was all anxiety still, and thought I really needed to be on a daily medication instead of just taking ativan when it got really bad. He prescribed me zoloft 100mg, but suggested I start with 50mg to try and lessen the side effects. I have not taken it yet as I am anxious about taking it (of course). I am really just curious as what to expect when starting this. It is supposed to have fewer side effects than the paxil.
