Common Questions and Answers about Ativan and norco

I don't even remember the last time i had one. And only twice the first time I tried to come off the norco before joining this site. Is it addictive? Can it help if not abused. It's not my doc and I don't have an interest in making it one.
I take OXY 30 morning and 30 night. I get TWO Norco 7.5 for break through but need 4 and ALWAYS run out and then I am sick but I take it FOR TRUE PAIN.....it does not matter. I may have addictive signs and I know my body is dependent but I am IN PAIN on the meds so...I take Ativan after a year of being off xanax cause the doc thought it might help my anxiety and keep me from crying. Then now the same doc, ATivan to see if I am crying cause I have ADD....
I have been reading threw alot of Forum's and seeing what people say about Taking Different Kind Of Medication's Refering to Ativan and Norco ... If anyone that would take Intrest in this Post , I ask you to Please Advise me if Im doing the right thing ... My Question is About Ativan ( Lorazepam ) 1mg time's two daily is what my Doctor just put me on Feb 28th , 2011 along with the Hydrocodone 10-325 which I take 3 time's Daily ... ( On Norco ) ...
Anyone use to use Norco? its my DOC and im clean due to suboxone and Celexa Is anyone familar with celexa and how has it helped you?
Last year the pain with the hips became very severe and so diabilitating that I was taking NORCO and Oxyodin just to get through the day, my job is very labor intensive. I haven't been taking the Oxy lately, about a month, but now that I'm back to work, the back issues have come back, and with that the pain med useage.
Now since last month I've been going through a 60 pill script a week. I average 8-10 7.5mg norco a day. I ran out of my script yesterday and took my last 2 pills at roughly 2pm. I'm now 15hrs no pills and have just now realized that I've become addicted to them and I'm scared as hell. I'm the soul caretaker of my 3 yr old & 1 yr old during the day. I also start nursing school in a week. My hubby has no idea about what's going on.
I have several bad discs and arthritis in my back, hands and knees. I have been on norco for years and in the last several months I noticed that I was counting pills before my refill was due. That NOT normal behavior. You said you take 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. Norco is a short term pain killer. More than likely your script reads 4X a day meaning every 4-6 hours X 1. That's how mine always read. If you don't want to live like this, there is hope. I felt the same way.
I couldn't sleep either, and that can last quite a bit longer - weeks sometimes. I was able to get some ativan .5 and one of those at night really helps, but that's Rx. People on this forum have suggested tylenol p.m. tablets or something OTC called melatonin. You are almost throught the worst of it! Hang on!
The physical w/d's will last 5-7 days and then the mental cravings will start in. Just try to take it day by day...it did not take us 3 weeks to get addicted and will take time to recover. You should also look into outside support AA/NA. Everyone is different when it comes to recovery. Wishing you the best of luck.
This time I have to wait 2 + weeks and my body is freaking out and I am in such pain and mental agony. Its been 4 days and still seems worse, now I have run out of my anxiety med, klonopin for sleep and am having severe withdrawls from both. Legs and arms shaking, vomiting, can't sleep, pain, and I can't say anything to the dr. because he won't refill them. I don't know what to do for 2 weeks, not sleep, walk around all night.
I have tried different kinds of meds prescribed by a psychiatrist for depression, ADHD and Bi polar before I was taking Norco and none seemed to work to change my mood. I realize that Norco is only masking my lonely feelings but I am also working through a lot of personal issues with my psychologist too (who doesn't know about the norco). I know Norco is addictive and not designed to help anxiety but I find it really works.
don't want to go anywhere or do anything----AND THIS IS WHETHER I TAKE THE NORCO OR NOT! The Norco (at a certain dose-high-gives me a temporary reprieve from the pain and the makes me feel normal-I don't feel "high" or "euphoric", just in a good mood and happy, able to talk and do things with those I love. So, what do I do, how in the world can I stop taking it??? And don't bother me with meditation, acupuncture, herbs, etc.-tried it all.
Hey There. So Ive been taking vicodin, norco, and percoset all doctor prescribed, and dosing as the doctor ordered. I was taking 8 vicodin 5/500 a day for a couple few months, then moved to 8 - 10 norco a day 7.5/325 for couple weeks, then moved to 6 - 8 percocet, 7.5/325 a day for a couple weeks. After my surgery to fix the pain, I was sooo happy to find that it did in fact nearly eliminate the pain.
it is an over the counter sleeping pill. It really helped me and so many others here. If you can get him some Ativan....It will help calm him down, i just started on this and it has helped somewhat...
I only use them when needed during the day and I take three .5mg ativan to help me sleep at night. I've been doing pretty good so far. Just mild depression, fatigue, goose bumps, chills, nauseous and loss of appetite. So I'm wondering if once I am off the tramadol and ativan will the withdrawals go full blown? Or since the norco will be out of my system my acute withdrawals will be over?
5 and got off-I did have withdrawls but I took a few days off of work and I managed. On and off I have had pain in my back and my neck and resorted to taking a few Norcos a day-now I find I am going through some withdrawls if I dont take it-I have been trying to cut down by taking half tablets. I still have about 20 8 mg Suboxone-sometimes I get off of the Norco and take slivers of it to detox.
I'm 42 been takin Vic and Norco off and on since 2008. I have had many ovarian surgergies and one just last month. I was taken the pills 5-7 10/325 norcos a day not just for pain but somedays just to get through my day and deal with just everyday issues. I was noticing I needed more and more just to have the same effect and I refused to go anymore than 7. Not to mention I have gained 18 pounds on this stuff.
But yea I just can't seem to get my attitude fixed, I'm just depressed, tired as all heck and still have a dose of the poops. I'll mention the tramadol and ativan to my doc. Yes thanks, if you have any more information for me I will greatly appreciate any help and advise.
normally I would of taken at least 4 already, I purposely left them at home, so that I could not take any more than 2.......Hopefully, I can go from 8 a day and begin 4 a day today and for the next 2 days, and then 3....hopefully (fingers crossed) that will work...I am SO READY to kick this habit....
Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others. 2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store). 3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store. 4.
I can handle the sickness but what I can't handle is not being able to sleep. I want to go out and buy more norco just so I can sleep but I know I'll end up taking them more than that. I tried an over the counter sleeping pill that didn't help. I need sleep!!!
Ask him to prescribe clonidine, (not klonopin), and ativan. These will help with sleep, RLS and anxiety. These are best to try before formal detox and drugs like Suboxone. I had to do formal detox because I tried everything else, including alcohol to get off and nothing worked for me. Keep in mind that when you try… make it a good one! Have some time off of work if you can… maybe a four day weekend or more.
I have found Valerian Root to be very helpful, better even than Ativan. I also take Calms Forte by Hylands and I try ti force myself to get out and interact even for a short time every day. You may have come off your meds a little too fast. Slow and easy is the best way to go. Good luck. I hope you get some relief quickly. I know it's a terrible feeling.
My daughter is taking about 8 Norco a day, and wants and needs to taper off these. Has anyone actually been given a taper schedule, and if so, what is it? If you take 2 every 4 hours, should you take 4 every 5 hours and gradually push the time out, or is it better to take 1 1/2 every 4 hours and stay at that level for awhile, then decrease the dosage? .. In all the posts, I haven't seen any suggestions on how to taper, and how it's worked.
What do I take first? I have Ativan( prescribed 20) , melotonian, immodium , Motrin and pm, and magnesium. Vitamin b and c. Am I good? Healthy stuff! , I wAnt to quit for my children and myself. They are my life. How I got this far is not good. Mentally I think I'll be okay. It's the physical I'm worried about. God bless. Will keep you all posted. I can't say enough Thank you!
But on another note before I relapsed four months ago I was clean for maybe 2 to 2 1/2 weeks and I Had such a bad time with sleeping and I was staying at my parents house and got stir crazy and decided instead of pills my other outlet would be drinking and hanging out with friends. Then one day after a stressful work shift my buddy who gets norco's for back pain invited me over to watch football and I took a couple and then it was downhill from there.
I am taking clonidine each day and night to help wig blood pressure but I can't sleep even my ambien and Ativan. I Reyes to detox back in September and lasted maybe 2 weeks at the most and then relapsed up until now and for the last 4 months I have been taking 6-8 norco's a day I know this is probable mince meat to what you others have gone through or are going through but any words of advice when this get better?
I too am a norco addict and I know exactly what you are going through. I took Norco for many years and never thought I was addicted because I took the prescribed amount daily but i took it every day. I want to congratulate you on being 6 days sober and I want to let you know that better days are just around the corner. You may even start to feel some relief tomorrow. What a Christmas blessing that will be hmm?
hi! i've been using norco (5 a day) and now i'm completly out. they are enough to last me 1 month and i have them gone in 2 wks or less. i have osteoarthritis in my neck I'm 37 yrs old, have a great job. great husband and two lovely children. i take this for the extreme pain i experience on a daily basis and to keep myself enjoyable around everyone. so basically they don't have a clue how much pain i'm in untill i'm out of this medication. right now is my 28th hr without.
they gave me a shot of ativan to control the anxiety I was currently feeling and sent me home to take another norco to stop the withdrawal. I have done reading and know that meds like clonidine and bentyl can help significantly reduce the withdrawal symptoms. I can't take off time from work, I have a small child and a family to take care of. There's no way I can just wait out the withdrawal symptoms, but I know I won't be able to truly heal until I get clean.
