Avatar f tn if you're feeling depressed, lonely, etc, what do you wish your parents would do to help you?
Avatar f tn You need to see your doctor for a thorough check-up. If this is determined to be anxiety then it needs to be addressed right away. I don't understand your family disowning you, even it it were anorexia. Go to your school and talk to either a counselor or principal to get your parents involved. Regardless of why it's happening, they need to help and support you in every way, and therapy is needed to address your anxiety.

Avatar f tn I've lived with anorexia for multiple years now, and recently I have also been having more frequent patterns of bulimia. I have finally realized that I don't want to live my life this way, as it has affected more than my physical health. My parents do not know, and we don't have the money for any formal treatment. So I'm wondering, what can I do to help get on the "road to recovery"?
Avatar f tn you should tell your parents thats a serious mental disorder anorexia has the highest death rate of any disorder please get help
Avatar f tn Thankyou so much for the support and advice, the school nurse is trying to help me right now, but I am afraid of my condition worsening as my parents are force feeding me now and its as if the more they do that the worse my condition is getting as I decrease the amount of my food afterwards for some reason. Is that common in anorexia?
Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.

Avatar f tn t know how to ask for help or if I even should ask for help. Asking for help would mean I would have to skip this semester of college and I really don't wanna do that. But if I don't ask for help I'm not sure I'd stay medically stable through May and then I might have to medically withdraw due to Anorexia. I'm so torn through all this. And on top of that, people think I've been doing well so I know I'd be letting them down too. Please help!
Avatar f tn To get to the point, I've had an eating disorder for a few years, since I was almost 11, and now I'm 15. It's varied from anorexia to bulimia, but these past few years its centered around binging and purging. For the past few months, I've found blood in my vomit. Its a dark brown and it resembles coffee grounds. I've also been having sharp pains in my abdominal and chest, which usually don't last long at all. Lately, though, the chest pains have been lingering.
918035 tn?1274644533 you can die that way.....Nobody not your parents, a doctor, friends, or anyone on this site can help you get over anorexia. In the end you are the one who decides what to put in your body and what not to.....Its just like a drug addict....yes the drug addict can go to counseling, or get help but when its all said and done they need to want to stop taking drugs......I did not recover from anorexia because of my mom, doctor or whatever....
1207078 tn?1265825982 s not just a case of having a bad habit like say, biting your nails, that you need to stop. You need help for your eating disorder. Tell your parents (I know that's hard, but they probably already suspect) and have them take you to your doctor. Ask for a referral to a therapist who works with eating disorders. The therapist will help you work on the issues that are causing this eating disorder.
Avatar f tn I've been suffering from anorexia for 2 years and a bit now and I begin to improve and then I drop back again it's an on going thing but lately I've been having the urges to just completely give up like I have no reason to live anymore because it's becoming too difficult. I've spoke to my parents but they think I'm just saying it and that it's phase I'm having and i'll come out of it soon.
Avatar f tn Since you have tried speaking to your friend, the next step is speaking to adults. It’s helpful to get one of your parents onboard to help. If you are in school together or a group together, speaking to a counselor or leader can help. The goal is to alert her parents to some of the concerns and support professional consultation from an eating disorder therapist. An adult can work with you to inform her parents of her behaviors and symptoms.

Avatar f tn How old is she? Is she old enough for her parents to admit her to help her? If she is older and not willing to go then you can't really do anything but encourage her and tell her how beautiful she is. However most of the time someone dealing with self harm has other issues that she is mentally dealing with. Best thing to do is try to get her to see a therapist that deals with eating disorders.
Avatar f tn In Canada how would a 15 year old get help for bp without the support of her parents? The parents will not acknowledge help is needed. It has reached the point of cutting and harming her body and there is no support available?
Avatar f tn Dear “I need help!!!”, It must be hard on you to care about your friend and see him do so much damage to himself. You have cause to be concerned. His lack of eating and vomiting could be life threatening. You could say to him something to the effect, “I feel scared when I see you not eat all day and then vomit. I’m afraid you are damaging your body and could even die.” You could go on to say, “I’m really worried for you and I feel helpless, I want you to get help.
Avatar n tn My 21 year old daughter is anorexic and in denial. I am trying deparately to reach out to her, to no avail. Her feet are swelled everyday. She eats a good breakfast and a salad for dinner. She has lost 30 lbs and wants me to stop her from eating. She tries to feed me all the time and has every symptom of anorexia. Please tell me how I can approach the situation. She is moody and doesn't want to be around anyone - very unlike what she was a year ago. Thank you.
