Common Questions and Answers about Amphetamine psychosis symptoms

adderall

and the rest sounds like the speeded up affect (mood) of amphetamine psychosis. You could look up that term. So yes its something to stop but as I said post more in the substance abuse forum for specifics as I don't know about withdrawal symptoms.
Chronic abuse of amphetamines can result in the manifestation of amphetamine psychosis.[1] I found this when i googled Adderall. Please talk with your doctor and tell him what is going on.
The next phase, in 2005, sounds clearly as some kind of psychosis; of the paranoid variant. Amphetamine increase the anxiety level in people prone to anxiety, and so this may have been a pre-stage to the development of psychosis in some cases too. Also the stress which follow a depression may contribute to a psychosis. If psychosis is the case, involuntary commitment to a mental hospital may be a solution for him.
I believe that she does show all the characteristics of ADHD but is it possible that the diagnosis was false (she self medicated prior to diagnosis) and that the symptoms are closer to amphetamine induced psychosis/paranoia. She is becoming worse.
it sounds like she has an eating disorder and takes adderall compulsively to keep her appetite away, and it also seems like she may be experiencing amphetamine-induced psychosis, which would explain the paranoia and disconnected thoughts which are unlikely characteristics of someone of her age who's made it to grad school.
Toxicity is known to cause excitement, agitation, restlessness, shifting states of consciousness, and toxic psychosis (10), mimicking amphetamine psychosis. Allergic individuals may be erroneously diagnosed, medicated, and lost in a dark disturbed world, until death. Adenosine receptors are blocked by caffeine (11,16), maintaining neuronal firing. Persons remain excited and often euphoric. Caffeine toxicity may be mistaken for bipolar disorder (1,12).

I'm curious to know if anyone has been prescribed amphetamines to combat the symptoms of fatigue.
I just wanted to tell me story of experience with effexor, so that other's may find some answers and understanding in it. I had been on lexapro 20mg w/ 1.5mg klonopin/day and in October, I was having a seasonal crash and went to my doctor for help - He put me on 75mg Effexor ER right away, and within a week I was getting weird - Tweak'n so hard on stupid things like I'd done some bad speed.
it is an amphetamine i think...one way to get started with quitting any drug is to stop snorting it...it would be a huge first step....stopping amphetamines is very similar to quitting cocaine..
Lately I have been having strange episodes similar to an anxiety attack but without the psychological symptoms. I have been spending 2 months in another country (Mauritius), but am originally from Perth, Australia. The attacks have happened rarely in the past and not enough to cause me much worry (it takes quite a lot for me to consider seeing a doctor) however lately the attacks have become much more severe and regular.

First of all that's a lot of medications to begin with especially for a child and even standard psychiatry has concerns about use of antipsychotics in children due to the risk of tardive dyskinesia and diabetes. But are they for psychosis or for mood stabilization as Lithium, Depakoate and Lamictal are mood stabilizations that don't have the long term effects of antipsychotics. Lamictal from what I have found is the most tolerable and doesn't promote weight gain.
Hello verna2, TD has been observed after exposure to various substances eg, L-dopa, amphetamine, metoclopramide, the prototype TD is the orofacial ie, buccolingual, masticatory, hyperkinesias induced by neuroleptics antipsychotic dopamine D2-receptor blockers. People with other movement disorders and those with diabetes mellitus are at increased risk of TD. Primary prevention of TD by using the lowest effective dose of neuroleptic for the shortest period of time is recommended.
I agree with the new psychiatrist that I have all the symptoms of ADD or even ADHD, but I also have the symptoms of schizophrenia. So what is it? Or is it possible to have both? He wants to put me on a drug for ADD but from what I've read, those drugs can exacerbate schizphrenia symptoms.
Signs and symptoms Signs and symptoms of using designer drugs vary depending on the drug. You might be able to tell that a family member or a friend is using or abusing a drug based on the physical and behavioral signs and symptoms associated with the drug. Ecstasy produces a mild hallucinogenic effect and a feeling of euphoria. It also causes an increased heart rate, overheating, high blood pressure, kidney and liver toxicity, and memory problems.
aec- From what I was able to find out from that experience I posted to you about is that there doesn't seem to be a specific pharmacological treatment for meth. If you go to a treatment center, I'm not sure what it is you want to do, inpatient or outpatient? In an inpatient setting they treat you "symptomatically". Which is to say they see what symptoms you are maninfesting when you come in. If you have any little unwanted friends( i.e.
Ritalin (methylphenidate), Dexedrine and DextroStat (dextroamphetamine or d-amphetamine), Adderall (d-amphetamine and amphetamine mixture), Desoxyn and Gradumet (methamphetamine), and Cylert (pemoline). Except for Cylert, all of these drugs have nearly identical effects and side effects. Ritalin and the amphetamines can for most purposes be considered one type of drug. The number of children being drugged has escalated several-fold in the last few years.
I cannot even drive a car anymore because my vision has become so convoluted and messed up... I felt the symptoms after the first trip i took and it didn't keep me from doing it over and over and over again until i woke up in an insane asylom getting fed Zeprexa like a dog and all the Anti Phychotics did was make everything worse. I got out and told my doctor about my disease and he just scolded me for taking LSD every day, wrote be a script of Xanax and sent me on my way...
Yes Adderall can cause the symptoms or paranoia. Amphetamine psychosis as mentioned above. I know this thread is old.. but the WORST thing you could do is have a gun in your hand or a weapon. Do not do it ! My best friend was shot and killed and after that I felt that having a knife around in case someone tried to harm me with a weapon would be a good idea. It almost caught me a felony charge and it wasn't even on me, it was in my glove compartment. Thats just one example.
The other causes of bug crawling sensations (also called formication) are psychosis, cocaine/amphetamine use and alcohol withdrawal. Perhaps you should consult a psychiatrist to see if a trial of risperdal would be indicated (I am not an expert in psychosis, and would depend on their judgement).
not always a drug of abuse but many men with ADD arre very immature...not all but a bit high strug....he could be abusing the amphetamine or the psychosis he is on it for is showing thru during the stress he is under,,,,let him see his doctor and be evaluated..
http://www.ncgiadd.org/pdf/adhd_bipolar_disorder.pdf I personally take Wellbutrin XL for my ADHD, and when I am on the proper diet for me, I do great on it. I took Concerta a while back to treat the ADHD, and it gave me anxiety attacks. Wellbutrin XL isn't a stimulant medication like Concerta/Ritalin/Adderall, so it doesn't give me this problem.
There is a massive tendency to diagnose any child who is hyperactive or moody as ADHD - the reality is most kids at 3 are those things. The symptoms you have just given are not neccesarrily illness based - you ssid you adopted him. What is his history? Is he the oldest or youngest or middle? If he is suffering anxiety issues and seperation (and he is not able to articulate at this age) that could easily account for the moods and the sleep problems.
I do not know if all the over-the-counter forms of ephedrine show up as an amphetamine or if it stays in the system a long time. We need Mr.Michael.
and that what I was experiencing were very common panic/anxiety symptoms.
I was on an antidepressant and amphetamine that apparently set me off on mania for a whole year. ....needless to say, the aftermath of the tornado was pretty bad. What scares me is getting older and older, being a single Mom, no real family support, etc., what will become of me and is it going to lead to dementia or something like my Grandmother? If I can get stable (which I am more now than EVER!), I will be able to make it, but I don't want to end up in an institution.
