Amoxicillin and rash

Common Questions and Answers about Amoxicillin and rash

amoxil

Avatar m tn I’m late answering this but i was diagnosed with strep even though i suspected mono but the doctor put me on amoxicillin anyways. I had taken seven days of amoxicillin feeling the sickest i had ever felt but developed no rash so the doctor didn’t worry. After 7 days of being on amoxicillin my throat finally felt better and i did not feel sick anymore. I went to sleep that night and woke up at 5am itching and had developed a full body rash over night.
Avatar f tn This sounds like it has 100% to do with the Amoxicillin, and not Mono combined with Amoxicillin and so forth. Amoxicillin can cause joint pain although this is not a common side effect, but can occur and should NOT be permanent, but temporary. If this hasn't subsided, this definitely needs to be further investigated by your physician.
Avatar n tn I had sinus infection and got Amoxicillin for it. Had diarrhea, then a rash all over stomach, back, thighs, then yeast infection. I stopped taking the Amoxicillin and the doctor told my husband I was allergic to Penicillin. A week later I vomited several times and had cramping (like the stomach flu) and now my forehead has broken out with an itchy ***** rash like poison oak! Could the rash be associated with the Amoxicillin or the Sinus infection?
Avatar m tn An allergic reaction to amoxicillin (and then all penicillin based meds would be included) is sudden and intense and can quickly become life threatening. Rash is listed as a side effect to this antibiotic. Call the doctor but it is highly unlikely that it is an allergic reaction but a side effect. And it doesn't mean your child will get it every time they take amoxicillin or drugs of the penicillin class. good luck!!
Avatar f tn s still there. I thought at first it was the Amoxicillin, but I finished that about a week ago, and the rash is still there. Could the rash be from Prevacid?
Avatar f tn After taking 3 doses of the amoxicillin she broke out in Hives on her hands, legs, and feet. She was taken off the amoxicillin but the rash has now continued for a week now. It will appear and last about 5 minutes and then it is gone. It almost looks like blisters coming up on her feet. I took her to the doctor again today (1 week later) and they told me that she has erytherma multiforme caused from the amoxicillin.
Avatar f tn It did not seem to itch or bother her but I took her to the doctor and they said it was just a side effect from the medication and should disapear in 4-5 days. Well it has now been a week and the spots are still there. And she woke up 2 nights ago because she had thrown up but went right back to sleep and hasn't had any problmes and felt great. But then she threw up this morning.
Avatar f tn Week before diagnosis, was on amoxicillin for suspected strep. Cue a terrible full body rash that appeared yesterday as a result of taking the amoxicillin while mono positive. I understand it will eventually go away, but I was wondering how long that might be and if there is any way to lessen the severity of both the itchiness/burning as well as the appearance. It's not pretty to look at for sure. Any advice/insight would be very much appreciated!
Avatar f tn My 7 years old daughter is got rash caused by amoxicillin, doctor is immediately prescribed Benadril. After seven day of therapy with Benadril she still have rash on her neck end skin around aye is very red end itche. How long is takes for recover? Please answer me !!!Thank you...
Avatar m tn Oh, and I forgot to mention that I was under a great deal of stress and anxiety when the rash broke out and spread, but this has since been greatly lessened. Don't know if this matters.
Avatar f tn If you got the rash while taking the amoxicillin, then you should stop taking it immediately. If you already had the rash before taking the amoxicillin then carry on with it. But as you have only one pill left, it will be neither here or there now. But as the rash has spread, I wouldn't bother taking that last tablet. If you can, get some antihistamine medication from the pharmacist if you can't get to see your doctor over the weekend.
Avatar n tn Just in case, I was taken off the Amoxicillin but the rash keeps increasing. The rash started as small tiny red dots across my abdomen and has spread. It is profuse on my knees, lower back, stomach, and very bad on my arms. The tiny red spots grew larger to now where on my arms it's a solid red mass, in other spots they almost look like rings as you can see in the photo. The skin is slightly raised, somewhat itches, and feels like a sunburn that burns and is hot to the touch.
Avatar f tn my daughter tends to break out at random (she is 2) but the rashes / hives goes away after a couple of hours. We still have no idea what the allergy is. Now she was diagnosed with an ear infection yesterday, she didn't see her normal doctor because her normal doctor was out of town, which is fine, I know the other doctor. the doctor gave her amoxicillin for her ear infection.
Avatar f tn Even tho its on the outside im just cautious on what i do/take cuz we tried so long to have this bby

Avatar n tn We gave her benadryl Friday in the afternoon and at night and she just woke up again and is still covered in the rash. She also said her lip hurt last night and I noticed it is still a bit swollen. She also still has white spots on the back of her throat. A friend of mine said her daughter had strep and it turned to mono and the amoxicillin didn't "agree" with the mono.... Thanks for your help!
Avatar m tn I had unprotected oral sex with another man a couple of months ago and developed a rash pinkish red spotted rash mainly on my upper thighs both inside and out and a few spots on my tummy. The rash varies in size and distance apart. I have no other symptoms that are typical of syphilis but I am very concerned at the same time . I have used antifungal cream to no affect. About 3 weeks ago I visited my GP for a sinus infection.
Avatar f tn Hi! My 11yo has a rash on her bottom that doctors think is a strep infection since august(strep b). We have been on amoxicillin penicillin and azithromyacin with no cure. It doesn't hurt her. She also was complaining of stomach aches since August. She constantly gets canker sores and now has what looks like a cold sore on her lip that isn't healing. Could she be allergic to something? I'm lost as to where to go from here.
Avatar n tn if I have never had a blister rash like this before and the day after I take Amoxicillin and I get a severe blister rash all over my body... it therefore must be a very bad allergic reaction to the Amox. He said I have Vesicles and Pustules. Vesicles - are a small fluid-filled blister Pustules - are small, inflamed, pus-filled, blister-like lesions. He prescribed Prednisone (steroid) and told me NOT to let my mind get the best of me and get all paranoid.
Business woman2 My Niece broke out in a rash all over looked like chicken pox we took her to the dr she had been on Amoxicillian for an ear infection for 6 days and had taken it before the dr said it was an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin or a virius to stop giving the amoxicillin to her and give her benyadell we did the rash got a little better but broke out in other places and now she has pain in her joints all over and swelling in her joints Is this part of the allergic reaction or is something els
Avatar f tn I am taking Amoxicillin and Bactrim DS right now. My dermatologist told me that it could take a while to get rid of. But, I wasn’t expecting it to keep coming back.
Avatar m tn 10th week,, I had rash out of no where.. Maybe an allergic rash... BUT I never had allergic rash for a long time, like when I was a baby.. And now... Not much of a symptom but may be a drug side effect, diarrhea.. My story is I had protected sex and unprotected oral from a high risk person (I guess). Havnt have sever symptoms up until 8-10 week time frame. But symptoms do disappeared the next day (for example.
Avatar f tn I originally got a reaction from being prescribed amoxicillin but that was just the first week. About over a week ago, I ended up getting another rash. However, it seemed to be my normal allergic reaction to tomatoes, since I had eaten some the week before that. The rash only cleared up (but not completely) a couple days ago. The redness and itchiness was gone however the skin where it had been still felt slightly raised, just now skin tone.
Avatar f tn She said I could possibly have mono but we would wait and see what the amoxicillin did. My symptoms went away. Then a few days later I woke up with a terrible red rash all over my body. I looked on Google again and sure enough the acute HIV popped back up. When I went back to the doctor again he ordered a kono test and a CBC test. He said the blood count was absolutely perfect.
Avatar f tn My 8 month old was given a 10 days course of amoxicillin for an ear infection. We finished the antibiotic and 2 days later, my son started breaking out in hives. He has been doing this for 36 hours now. They come and go, they will appear in one area, disappear, then appear in another. The on-call nurse (it's the weekend) told us he probably has a virus, treat it with benadryl every 6 hours and the hives should go away in 2-3 days.
Avatar f tn I was on amoxicillin for a few months for a dental abscess. This was around 7 months ago. Since then, my lower lip on the right side has been swollen. My checks also swell sometimes on the inside. This has been going on and off for around 6 months. The lip swelling goes down but never really goes away completely. The cheek swelling is the same as it comes and goes but is always somewhat puffy and swollen still. No real pain, just annoying.
