Avatar m tn I am a male 70 years of age. I have been on 150mg Irbesartan and 5mg Amlodipine daily since October 2010. This controlled by BP within acceptable limits. Since late April, however, the systolic has risen to an average of around 150. My doctor wants me to add a beta blocker to the other medications. Since last October my heart rate was averaging below 60. Since late April it is averaging around 70.
Avatar f tn I have had bleeding gums and gum disease for years. Im 28yrs old now. Each time i go to the dentist they tell me about best ways to clean and floss. I try my best but still never seems to go away. I have brought a very good new oral b electric toothbrush to ensure I clean to the best of my ability. I also floss. I have tried natural mouthwashes and toothpastes containing herbs like myrrh etc which are known to help keep gums healthy.
Avatar f tn hi, i have got really sore gums and it is painful to brush and eat. i have been to the dentist is there anything else i could do?
Avatar f tn Took my mother to the dentist finally since she had refused to go for several years and since shes been having problems with loose tooth and was a problem that needed to be addressed prior to spinal surgery. Dentist diagnosed her with severe gum disease that was causing bone loss and said most of the tooth has to be extracted eventually or they'll fall out. Cause may be cause of smoking (which she quit) or braces that she had at a late age.
Avatar n tn I have been told that I have gum disease and have been refered by my dentist. I also have suffered with chrones disease for the last 23years and was wondering if this could be a factor to gum disease. My teeth are in good condition and I only have 3 fillings. I am 39 years of age. Please could you advise.
7649778 tn?1401294601 My gums got really swollen and sensitive during my last pregnanct. its normal to have gum and teeth problems during pregnancy but still see your dentist. My dentist says some woman have even had teeth fall out during pregnancy. So I would suggest having normal dental check ups during pregnancy.
1704227 tn?1307475144 I have Coronary Artery Disease, Angina and Lupus and for three weeks now I've been having coronary artery spasms averaging 1-2 spasms every hour. I spent 6 days in the hospital and was just discharged 2 days ago. After many, many EKG's that were normal (except one that showed activity of spasms), and having 2 more stints placed in one of my arteries (now totaling 5 stints), my cardiologists are still puzzled and confused as to why this is happening and why they won't stop.
Avatar m tn Other than the nitro I am on 10mg of Amlodipine (for about a week) and 1,000 mg of L-Arginine (which I read is good for small vessel disease). I have not been told I am have small vessel disease, but am operating under that assumption. My chest pain has gotten worse and I am profoundly short of breath since increasing the Amlodipine from 5mg to 10mg. My Cardiologist is very disinterested in pursuing this. He has not come out and called me a liar, but treats me like I am making things up.
Avatar f tn Hi I've had a positive ANA ranging between 1:80 and 1:160. I have also been testing positive for U1-RNP range considered positive is 81 or higher I was reading at 114. Now all of the sudden my U1-RNP is considered normal at 60? I have not been on any medication this far except vitamin D 50,000 and amlodipine 10mgs 1 per day. I've been having severe muscle weakness. My dr. sent me to a vascular dr. To have a muscle biopsy done.

Avatar m tn Its possible that previous history of gum disease could have caused the recession and now the gum disease is no longer present but a dental cleaning is almost always advised on a routine basis to maintain healthy gums. A dental cleaning should remove any irritants and allow the gums to heal. If they're healthy already, there should be no problem.
Avatar m tn Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old). Said it could be Atypical Angina that was causing the chest pain but no way to test accurately due to my age and said he he could not tell me it wasn't PAH.
Avatar n tn Please advise how long term use (5 years) of anti-depressants and anti-psychotic meds like venlafaxine, olonzapine, zoloft, and prozac, even high stress, can create gum disease and jaw bone degeneration. Thanks. boxcar.
Avatar f tn Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker indicated for hypertension. The S form of amlodipine is said to be responsible for dilation of blood vessels and lowering of blood pressure. The S- isomer of amlodipine or Asomex® is being studied in clinical trials and may lead to side effects such as fatigue or tiredness, dizziness or fainting, headache, flushing, or swelling of the legs or ankles. Side effects of amlodipine are generally mild and reversible.
Avatar n tn I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?

Avatar m tn just to add some more information I am being treated right now for the periodontal disease and the time of the incident I did not have any visible bleeding of the gums but I do have deep pockets (gaps in the gums) and deep gum recession for one of my tooth in the lower jaw. What are my risk of HIV after this incident?
Avatar f tn My question to the forum is do I do the flap which will cost around the 3000 and get a healthy gum and keep my teeth - or get a full denture and although have false teeth will also provide a healthy gum but a decent smile as well. Any advise would be welcome and any insight about why I should do any dentures is welcome as that is definitely sounding like the best option at this point.
Avatar f tn I always give attention not to brush my teeth before sex because of my gum disease. This time I made washmouth for reason my gum not blooding. Again thank you so much for help, and I will consider my risk is close to zero even my gum is blooding.

Avatar m tn Showed mild RAE and Moderate LAE and my RV was upper limits of normal. Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old).
Avatar f tn I do know that recent research is indicating that gum disease (not cavities like you asked) are shown to increase the risk of premature and low weight babies. Have you had a dental evaluation prior to or during the pregnancy? Here's a new article I found last year that I posted on medhelp. It may help provide you with some leads. You may want to contact Yiping Han (who did the study) at Case Western University. http://www.msnbc.msn.
Avatar m tn I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
