Aldara vs podofilox

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara vs podofilox

aldara

Avatar n tn I have had genital warts now for the past two years. Not all over but I have them. I have used podofilox three times and have had them frozen off and they keep comming back!!! I'm nervouse that this may be a life time thing. I've read all over the Internet how they are supposed two go away within two years. I've hit my time. Does anyone out there have any answers?
Avatar m tn there are several options, the least expensive is to try a topical solution like Podofilox. Supposedly it's available at Walgreens drug stores without a prescription. I bought an identical product for a friend in Mexico for $6. Aldara prescription cream for warts is ridiculously expensive, so unless you can get it at a huge discount try Podofilox first. There are other options like freezing them off, etc., but that requires a doctor visit.
Avatar f tn ve been having outbreaks aldara seem to be no help except for the external warts they seem to work a little with aldara why is that could it be that my immune system is weak or is it the numerous treatments that I have been using like TCA, ALDARA, PODOFILOX,SOLOTION and now I am using CONDYLOX 0.5% GEL will these warts ever cease.when will the virus clear I am tired of experiencing warts every month and tired of treating them when they continue to reappear any suggestions.
1306047 tn?1333243591 Greetings, I don't come around here much any more, but two/three years ago I was quite active on this forum. Recently I may have had another outbreak after 2 1/2 years without. Doctor gave me Aldara. Thought I'd pass my thoughts along. I've had warts burned off with nitrogen and cauterized as well. Aldara doesn't seem to be an alternative to me. First, you have to apply three nights a week for three months.
Avatar n tn Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.
Avatar m tn t going to work for me? Wondering if Podofilox or the stronger 5% Aldara cream would have been a better choice.

Avatar f tn Hello, For small warts several medications(like podophyllum resin, Podofilox (Condylox), Trichloroacetic and bichloroacetic acids, Imiquimod 5% cream and interferons) are available, which can be applied directly to the surface of the warts.Other treatment options include electrical cautery, surgical removal, Carbon dioxide laser treatment and electrodesiccation.
Avatar n tn since your wart is at not a easy to reach place, i would suggest you to use aldara or podophyllotoxin trade name wartec, condylox, or podofilox, if you want to treat it at your own... Please discuss with your doctor about which option is good for you...
Avatar m tn Imiquimod (Aldara, Zyclara), Podophyllin and podofilox (Condylox) - should be administered by a doctor. Trichloroacetic acid (TCA)- must be applied by a doctor. Surgery: Freezing with liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy) , Electrocautery, Surgical excision and Laser treatments. Use a condom while having intercourse.
Avatar m tn I have had all visible warts frozen off 8-9 times this past year and they keep coming back. I have completed 2 courses of therapy on Aldara and that just seemed to make the warts grow faster. I have used salicylic acid, 4 weeks of duct tape occulsion therapy and have started regularly taking echinacea to boost my immune system. The duct tape therapy seemed to slow/stop growth but did not get rid of existing lesions.
Avatar f tn t develop the warts until august 2008 and I am still having outbreaks while I have been using treatments such as TCA, aldara, podofilox solution and lastly condylox gel I am hoping that this is my last outbreak being treated with condylox and hope that I don't experience another outbreak in 2 weeks because my outbreaks come once a month. I would like to know could the outbreaks be from the fire my father death things of that nature play a part and tends to weaken the immune system.
Avatar f tn In any case, I had initial removal of warts with podofilox at my gyn about 10-12 months ago over the course of a three sessions over 6 weeks, and it seemed to have gone away, but then I had a three more come up two months ago, and my dermatologist removed these with liquid nitrogen. It seemed to have worked well. I don't seem to have any more warts, but my dermatologist recommended that I try Aldara to boost my immune system.
Avatar f tn Genital Wart Outbreak by tedabell My genital warts had came back after a few years last august and at the time of the outbreak I didn't use anything I just let it heal on it's own then I decided to go to the clinic for treatment because more started to come however I used aldara but it didn't seem to do the job for the inside but it happened to help for the outside.
Avatar m tn She started me on Aldara which is terrible but somewhat bearable. I take frequent breaks between applications because I can get so sensitive from it. The last time I used it (about 3 weeks ago now) I had (what I thought) to be a terrible reaction to Aldara: I had a low grade fever, nausea, dizziness, and many open ulcers that formed "down there". I cried and dreaded every time I had to urinate because it hurt so badly.
Avatar m tn If you are in your 20s or younger and don't have HIV....Aldara will probably cure the virus within a few months (whether it's HPV or molluscum contagiousum) I doubt you have a skin tag on your penis. HPV is very common just use the meds and get rid of it while you still stand a chance. HPV turns into carcinoma (cancer). Yep. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Just use the meds.
Avatar m tn Other thoughts on treatment (Aldara just burned my skin as I had a pretty bad reaction -- but would try again)? Are there immune system supplements that I should take (vitamins, etc,)?
Avatar m tn Hi I am a 30 year old male who was diagnosed with genital warts 3 years ago. The warts never resembled what I have seen in the internet and I have got various opinions some have said they are warts some have said they are not! I have had many cryo treatments on these lumps and even self treated with over the counter stuff.
Avatar f tn I thought it was genital warts outbreaks because I was diagnosed with genital warts in 1999. At the time I was treated with aldara but I would get recurrances from time to time. However I went to the clinic and doctor and I was being treated with aldara, condylox, TCA, and podofilox and the whole time it was genital herpes I didn't find out until April 2010. I was using the wrong medications for about 2years and was wondering why my symptoms would not go away.
Avatar n tn Assuming you actually have warts, there are several recommended treatments, both provider-applied (freezing, podophyllin, and bi- or trichloroacetic acid) and prescriptions products named podofilox (Condylox) and imiquimod (Aldara). All are more or less equally effective, although some work better in some persons.
Avatar n tn The anti-wart treatment prescribed probably is imiquimod (trade names Aldara or Zyclara) or podofilox (Condylox). If the diagnosis remains uncertain, I agree a biopsy is a good idea. So it sounds like you are in competent hands. Continue to follow the dermatologist's advice.
Avatar n tn He said I could leave it or treat it. I opted to treat it so he prescribed me Podofilox. I asked how can I be certain what it is. His response was that if it goes away then it was a wart but, if nothing changes after a week of Podofilox then it's probably a skin tag and would not be necessary to continue with treatment. I've been using Podofilox for the last three days and the color has changed. It's no longer dark but, now gray.
Avatar m tn * Podofilox, or Condylox * Imiquimod, or Aldara A doctor can show you how to apply these treatments. Podofilox is used for about four weeks. It works by destroying the wart tissue. Research shows that about 45% to 90% of warts are cleared, but in 30% to 60% of cases, the warts can come back. Imiquimod boosts the immune system so it fights off the virus. Clearance rates range from 70% to 85%, but in 5% to 20% of cases the warts come back.
Avatar n tn Since I got home about a month ago I have regularly been back on treatments (Aldara Cream). The warts luckily are not painful or big, just itchy sometimes. My boyfriend is very caring and supportive of me, but I can't help but get upset about them every now and then. It has been 6 months and I really haven't seen too much results. Is that too long to have them? and Does anyone know when they go away?
Avatar f tn It took awhile for them to go away, I tried aldara first which did nothing, then I went for weekly tca treatments at the gyno, again nothing, so I finally had them lazered off. No sign of anything until recently when I noticed a skin tag, or at least it looks like one. I was told and read from various places that skin tags are NOT related to hpv, however when I saw my new gyno this week he said that skin tags can be hpv.
