Alcohol poisoning hives

Common Questions and Answers about Alcohol poisoning hives

alcohol

I realize that it is very difficult to pinpoint the cause of hives. I'm just wondering, for someone who hasn't had problems with hives in the past like me, if I should be worried about something serious. And I'm also sick of being constantly drowsy on benadryl! Would a detox water fast help? I dunno.... any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
For around three or four years now, I have been suffering from headaches some two hours or more after the consumption of any amount of alcohol - although typically as few as two drinks upwards of any kind of alcohol. The headaches come on slowly but persistently and follow a line from the left side of my neck across the top of my head to just above the left eyebrow. They are not sharp pains but more of a constant 'throb' and can go on for hours.
I'm a 29 y.o female who has had hives 9 months. When I first saw my doctor he gave me a course of steroids, that didn't help at all. I have tried all sorts of antihistamines... Zyrtec, Claritin and now i'm trying Chlor-Trimeton. All of them not helping much anymore. I have read article after article about hives and the more I read the more down I feel about it.. not being able to find a cause. I have had an allergy test and I have high allergy to dust mites.
My 6 year old son has been getting hives now everyday for about 2 months. He sounds a lot like your condition. When he plays really rough he gets hives. When he gets hot in school he gets hives. I am so worried that he has some sort of a medical condition that we don't know of that is causing these hives. Lately his eyes look sickly to me. I know I worry about him alot but after all he is my baby. I wish I had some answers.
It sounds like you suffered acute alcohol poisening, and maybe your system is reacting alergically to the alcohol. I got to a point that I broke out in hives when I drank!
In the beginning of my vacations I had diarrhea that lasted for 10 days (I thought it was due to a food poisoning and lack of aftercare - I drank cocktails, ate everything a person with diarrhea shouldn't) but my feces remained soft (not diarrhea though) until I returned in my hometown. So I thought it was just traveller's diarrhea. A week after I returned home from vacation I started getting hives after the shower (no matter what the water temperature).
//www.foodreactions.org/intolerance/alcohol/index.html) An alcohol allergy would be very uncommon. This involves your immune system where in it mistakenly identifies a specific food or a component of that food as a harmful substance. Signs and symptoms of allergy include tingling in the mouth, hives, breathing difficulties, and swelling of your lips, tongue or throat. Take care and keep us posted.
I do feel full more often, even if I haden't eaten anything. Could food poisoning of some sort cause this? Could I be lactose intolerant? What? I'm not having fun eating anymore.

(the over the counter creams and antihistamines are useless for these rashes) If not, perhaps give the dermatologist a call and suggest them to him/her. My rash took off on about week 10 (hives, all sizes of red bumps, flat red patches, red skin). What finally got it under control was Hydroxyzine 50 mg every 6 hours, clobetesol soln., and Fluocinonide ointment. The rash is systemic which is why Hydroxyzine tabs help so much.
Have you taken any medications for these complaints? Do you drink alcohol? Do let us know about how you are doing and keep us posted. Good luck.
One reason I am concerned is about three years ago I drank too much two times to the point that I think I had alcohol poisoning. I hardly ever drink, maybe once a month but can you damage your liver in a night of binge drinking to the point that you would get cirrhosis? I drank a whole bottle of wine in about 30 mins :( Do you think it would be serious if just a few weeks ago my Calcium and Blood Protein was normal and now it is not. Could medications like Omnicef cause this increase?
The gamma part of the test is the one that shows intake of substances that the body cannot deal with. Usually it is excessive alcohol or drugs that cause this part of the liver test to be high. A normal alcoholic will have a reading of 4 to 6 time the normal level. My reading for the gamma is a massive 10 times what it should be.
I quit when it seemed like my body could not procees the alcohol, kinda like not processing the meds and become allergic to them. Diagnosis so far: FIBRO, Graves disease raidioactivated gland on Active duty (now hypothryroid on meds .

A great number of people mention headaches, seizures, mental confusion or memory loss, hives, and gastrointestinal problems (among others). This begs the question... If aspartame earned over a billion dollars in 1996, and if it is truly "safe", what can possibly be the Monsanto, Searle, NutraSweet objection against ONE more test to PROVE it?

I'm broken out in hives..... not unbearable, but bad enough it wakes me up at night. Plan to buy some benadryl to help the itching.... I have chronic Hep B, with a high viral load..... otherwise healthy. A specialty company that searches for hep B patients sought me out to donate, as the use my plasma for test kits to train healthcare providers how to read test results...... It's a good thing, but here's the deal....... I GET $400.00 per donation... yes four hundred dollars, US currency.......
I have sun poisoning, something which is extremely weird considering that im Argentinian and dark skinned. This whole business of sun reactions is really shocking! WHATS WRONG WITH THE WORLD!? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING ALL OF A SUDDEN??? Eddie M.
I finally looked up my symptoms online and came across a website about carbon monoxide poisoning. I bought a test for the home and put it in my car. Sure enough, my car had been emitting these poisons. I then began to think back to when I was the most sick and I, too, almost passed out in my car. If they test you for it, it will be through blood work. However, I think the carbon monoxide leaves the body and can be difficult to find after a certain amount of time surpasses.
I have the same bumps, and just like Smoran they mainly show up on my right leg, near the ankle. I have been applying alcohol thinking that would help it dry out, and have had nod luck. Just started a cortizone treatment, still waiting on results for that.
Since this is the worst it's ever been (which indicates I've been building up worse reactions to contact with this 'allergen' and means it will get worse - actually developed hives on my skin and it started to wrap around my thumbs to the sides of my hands and up my wrists - was using a stiff brush to itch after trying the desk corner and my finger nails - kids found the dog brush in their efforts to assist - thank you thank you thank you!).
Yesterday, I couldn't get enough of it. I find it interesting that people are sharing that it causes hives. Which I have had a lot of in the last year. I came up with allergy to liquid adhesive that happended more then once and so my sensitivity to things is high. How do you figure out foresure of having a caffine allergy? How or what do I replace it with.
I chalked it up to our arguement. At this point I dropped ALL alcohol, ALL chocolate, ALL white flour and unnecessary sugar, corn syrup, etc from my diet. So far (it's been since Jauary) I have lost 15 lbs without increasing my exercise, just from diet alone. Wish I could have done this WITHOUT the palps:) *to be continued in the comments section- it exceeded the "8000 character limit".
The first week I started itching really bad, even after washing. I broke out in hives and itches until there was near blood. Sounds gross, but I had a reaction to SOMETHING in th bra. I called the store and spoke to someone, and she was very rude. She informed me I could bring the bra back, but she would have to mark it as damage and give me only store credit.
Alot of people here have it and everybody seems to get it for different reasons. I think that it's much like Hives, where people can get them from freaking out or from an actual allergic reaction.
I used to have this, I found it was definatly the Meds, and differant ones can do it, try if you can without them and see if it makes a differance SSRIs do it and stomach Gerd Meds can, I also found some of the natural Remedys like 5HTP and Sam-E did it aswell its like an internal trembling, it was definatly the stuff I took causing it, I havent had it for ages and I take nothing now even though I have Hives, the last anti Histimine was the same.
Hi, This does seem to be an allergic reaction which is manifesting as rash/hives. Hives are raised, often itchy, red welts on the surface of the skin. When you have an allergic reaction to a substance, histamine and other chemicals are released into your bloodstream, causing itching, swelling, and other symptoms. The common triggers are medications, foods (shellfish, fish, nuts, eggs, milk, and other foods), pollen and insect bites.
The only other thing that I can connect this to .01% is I quit drinking alcohol after 20 years of daily consumption and the sores appeared 1 week after.Maybe hormonal who knows.I am 46,I was not a drunk needing rehab just woke up one morning and did ot have the urge.Strange I must be geting old.
