Avatar f tn Hi, Asthma cannot worsen angina but over use of inhaler albuterol can lead to low potassium levels in the blood, which in turn can cause palpitations, arrhythmias, irregular beats etc. So if you are experiencing frequent attacks of asthma, you should try to prevent triggering agents which cause asthma and also get evaluated by a pulmonologist for correction of dose of polemicist for preventing further attacks of asthma. Hope this helps. Best.
Avatar f tn ve noticed that the meds I receive sap the potassium out of my body. I try to supplement with high potassium foods to balance out the sodium-potassium ratio. But since I had my hysterectomy 2 years ago, the muscle spasms have gotten more sever. They strike at any time, mostly under my rib cage, inside upper thighs, feet, upper arms, forearms and into my hands pulling my fingers in a curled position. I also get them in my shoulder blade and neck muscles and in my waist.

1399363 tn?1462342610 Too little Potassium is not good, but too much in your body is deadly. Usually Potassium level variations are caused by diuretics, like HCZT, Lasik, and Spironolalone. Three month blood tests can easily track Potassium buildup or loss.
564169 tn?1216326177 The doctor there checked my potassium levels and said that I had acute hypokalemia caused by albuterol. My pharmacist told me that he had never heard of this side effect, and no doctor had ever checked my potassium levels before that I know off, nor was I told about this. I wanted to know if any other of my medications could cause something like this, so I researched on my own and found this article from the University of Maryland Medical Center http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/asthma-000015.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know about sarcoidosis or neurosarcoidosis? Or has your doctor questioned whether or not you may have that instead of MS? I’m wondering if I might have that instead of MS. I scheduled an appt with my neuro for early April to discuss a differential diagnosis with him. It’s on the list for MS mimics. Several reasons why I’m kind of wondering if it is: About 2005 I started going to my doctor for shortness of breath. She thought it might be asthma & gave me albuterol.
Avatar n tn I went to the emergency room two days ago with shortness of breath and weakness and they discovered my Potassium level was too low. I know I have a lot of health issues but is this really all about asthma & allergies? or is there something else wrong with me? How do I get better?

369861 tn?1306275686 This all started with my potassium being low and being hypoglycemic. The endo doctor took me off all diuretics so that i could take the renin and aldesterone tests. Does the potassium have anything to do with the thyroid and why did the endo take me off all diuretics to take the two tests. Doesn't he realise that my body would retaing the water and the result of edema? Just wondering?
Avatar n tn Albuterol is a bronchodilator used to treat many of the same issues as Flovent, but it can also be used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Albuterol comes in a syrup, tablet, or as a suspension in an inhaler. Albuterol works by causing the passages to the lung to relax and open, which makes breathing easier.
Avatar n tn I had a pulmonary function test which showed normal results so my doctor just determined that the exercise was what was causing the symptoms and gave me an albuterol inhaler to use. Also, I have hypothyroidism which I take medication for daily. Before being diagnosed I had shortness of breath and chest pain at 25 years old! When I finally got on the medication these symptoms resolved, but now with running more regularly maybe I've made things worse?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with an exercise induced asthma and prescribed a 90 mcg albuterol inhaler. I didn't use it much as I was fine most of the time. But just recently I have been having to use my inhaler every few hours or so because if I don't I get really short breathed. I don't know what's going on and it's worrying me.

587778 tn?1261397118 Are you sure she had a reaction to albuterol? I can easily see the steroid as the culprit, but albuterol surprises me. Of course, if you overuse it you will get a fast heart beat, but in moderate amounts it is usually OK. I use it and I also take an antihistamine.
1754037 tn?1327886811 Everyone says they know someone who knows someone that something bad happened to :P. As my OB said if you can't breath your baby can't breath. I used albuterol inhale and singular to control my asthma both deemed safe. My daughter has no defects she is perfectly healthy 7.

Avatar f tn I wrote in to this website when my son was 4 years old and started with transient motor tics, right after having two back-to-back illnesses (with a high temperature) and also after being treated with albuterol for severe asthma. His tics have not been as bad as they were the first time he started having them, but are still present at times. He is also growing out of asthma.
