Avatar n tn 17 year old daughter having stomach issues, just got a positive test for celiac, has bad acne, derm wants to put her on accutane. I am worried about the accutane and her stomach. Avatar m tn The drug has a much longer effect than anti-bacterial treatments and will often cure acne for good. The treatment requires close medical supervision by a dermatologist because the drug has many known side effects (many of which can be severe). About 25% of patients may relapse after one treatment. In those cases, a second treatment for another 4-6 months may be indicated to obtain desired results.

With accutane acne shows continues improvement even after the course of treatment has been completed, although the reason for this is not known presently. ref:http://www.hpv-genital-warts-pictures.com/accutane.html I suggest that you use standard treatments for acne -benzoyl peroxide- and hydroxyquinone for the scars.
Avatar m tn Hello, Treatment of acne include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You have been given the correct treatment for acne and should follow your doctor’s advice. For the hair loss, laser treatment can be used but the diagnosis needs to be made first.
Avatar n tn In 2004 I took a course of Roaccutane for acne and noticed some thinning after the course finished. I was told that this was a known side effect, but that the hair would grow back. It has been over four years!!! My hair is uniformly thinned out across the entire scalp. I have seen an Endocrinologist who says that there are no hormonal issues - my Testosterone levels are in the low end of the acceptability range. The hair loss is a BIG HUGE issue for me.

Avatar n tn ve been breaking out around my hairline, across my forehead, nose and cheeks. The acne is red and very small bumps, as if it was irritaton. I thought it might be an allergic raction to a hair product or new facial cleanser but stopping use of these new things hasn't stopped the situation. I've recently started back at the gym and running and sweating a lot and a co-worker of mine said that this is probably the cause.

Avatar f tn local treatment with azelaic acid, salicylic acid, topical retinoids, benzoyl peroxide. Mild papulo-pustular (inflammatory) acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids, topical antibiotics (such as erythromycin). Moderate inflammatory acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids combined with oral antibiotics (tetracyclines). Isotretinoin is an option.
Avatar f tn If it was truly harmful it would say on a warning label for you to check with a doc if you were pregnat I think you're safe. Can always give your nurse a call and double check and she may say yes and and if not I'm sure she would give advice on another product. Honestly have never heard of it being harmful. Because it shouldn't be anything of a harmful smell.
15642279 tn?1441935921 My friend had really bad back and chest acne, for YEARS, and it wasn't until just recently they found out it was caused by a wheat allergy. I also had face acne, and birth control really helped! I eventually got moved to Accutane, which is some seriously heavy duty stuff, but has made a world a difference!
Avatar n tn If there is no improvement, see your dermatologist for proper evaluation and treatment of acne. Proper diet, cleansing of the face and avoidance in touching the face can help with this condition from progressing. Avatar m tn I have colitis and I treat acne as skin bacteria. I ofund what works at the onset was cream tar, but i also had to unerrstand what feeds bacteria (like sugars). Treating acne is dealing with the actions that cause it : like sugar intake. I have set my limits. I found that green tea brings on acne. I find sulfates agatate skin-I ifnd out all my bodies allergies, really colitis is almost like uncontrolled or our bodies way of reacting to allergens.
Avatar m tn One type of staph infection leading to acne is folliculitis, which creates clusters of acne on the skin. It is important to know and confirm whether your acne is due to staph in order to address the infection before it gets worse. Any infection caused by staphylococcus bacteria can be considered as a serious infection that can appear anywhere on the body. It should be treated as early as possible. You will need topical and may be oral antibiotics.
Avatar f tn You may be having sensitive skin but if the redness persists for a long time, then prerosacea needs to be ruled out. In this, individuals generally come to the dermatologist for acne treatment and exhibit flushing and blushing episodes that last longer than normal. The prolonged redness usually appears over the cheeks, chin, nose or forehead.
Avatar n tn There is a connection with taking Abilify and acne .
Avatar n tn Most acne sufferers have more sensitive skin than they think and they treat and treat and treat and rarely see any good results. Overwashing and scrubbing and medicating is the last thing the skin needs. The key is to getting the it balanced. If you are red, your skin is probably very irritated and needs a break from any cleansers or treatments. Wash in the morning with a very mild cleanser (no harsh chemicals!) and if you can find some, apply an all-natural aloe-vera gel.
