abscess

The tender lump under your chin could be a localized infection like a beginning abscess. Breaks in the skin can cause bacteria to enter, resulting in an infection. Appropriate antibiotic should help. It could also be a swollen salivary gland or a swollen lymph node. It would be best to seek consult with your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Take care.
This morning I was petting him and found crustiness under his chin. It was a dried scab sort of thing. I cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide and salt water. It's a hole like a pimple. It's a lump too. Only blood was on the qtip, nothing yellow. I checked his teeth, they all look ok. I can't see under his tongue. He's been acting normally, eating hard and soft food, going to the bathroom, etc.
) After feeling the scalple slicing open my abscess, then the doctor found a previous abscess under that one and had to slice it open as well. After all of this, it was time to begin packing the wound with this stringgy gauze filled with antibiotic by using a small pair of sissors to do it. I felt everything! It felt like he was poking the abscess with the sharp sissor and then dragging it around the inside edges of the wound. Another very painful and tramatic experience!
It is also possible it could be an abscess caused perhaps by some cut or puncture wound. Can you see anything on her skin under the fur? If she is fighting something like that she will not feel 100% My feeling is that you should take her for the vet to look at her, to be on the safe side. Especially as it does seem to be affecting her breathing.
My cat has a fluid pocket under his chin that keeps refilling when drained. We have drained it twice now about a week apart. It has no odor and is clear, mucus type fluid. It doesn't seem to hurt him. He eats and drinks normal. Has no discharge or bad odor to his breath. No sneezing or coughing. Any ideas???

Lymph nodes can be found in a variety of places in the body including the neck and under the jaw and chin. These can become swollen from infection, inflammatory conditions, abscess, or even cancer. When swelling appears suddenly and is painful, injury or an infection ( which is the most common cause) may be considered. On the other hand, enlargement that comes on gradually and painlessly may, in some cases, result from malignancy.
I need a good medical answer to the cure against bumps that are swollen under my neck under my jaw line and chin. I was wondering if you could shed more light on what can be done to treat this.
3 hours ago a hard lump about golf ball size appeared under my jaw, left side between chin and ear. Not painful to touch, but slight discomfort swallowing. It seems to go up and down in size.

Since you say that your chinchilla is damp and has matting under the chin, I highly recommend that you seek out some professional help. They can give him a physical exam to make sure that he doesn't have anything obstructed in his mouth, have teeth issues, or other underlying health problems. A chinchilla with a tooth abscess can be in so much misery that he may rub away his fur near his mouth and also on the arms.

Pain is in teeth, around ear, jaw, under chin. We originally thought she was clenching her teeth while sleeping, but I do not understand why it would only cause pain on left side, never the right. This started end of August during sports conditioning, slowed down in October, and is in full force now. Pain is so severe she often cries, and Advil does nothing. Any ideas. We are lost.
The tip has been very sore with what feels like a huge lump under the skin. I've been to my GP who was not very helpful. Currently starting my third course of antibiotics in 4 weeks. The pain has subsided a lot but it's still very red. Background: Over the past few years I've noticed that my nose does occasionally flare up red but not as bad as this. I'm 41, NS, non-drinker, don't really eat spicy food, in generally good health and not overweight.
Great site! I am very concerned -- I have a 16 year old Shih Tzu. Just out of the blue I noticed a large FIRM lump underneath his jaw on the left side. Also there is a lot of swelling (softer) & bruising under the center of his chin. The rest of the neck *seems like* it is hot to the touch. He is paper trained & occasionally he steps in his poop, but we are careful about cleaning off his paws. Wasn't sure if he got an infection after scratching his neck.
For the last 2-3 months I have had a swollen gland under the left side of my chin. It will get bigger and smaller but has overall gotten bigger over the months. I've also had naseau, night sweats, body aches, fatigue, and some mild swelling on the left side of my face. Now, in the last week I have gotten an itchy, red pimple-like rash over my shoulders, chest, neck and back. I'm not running a fever, but my body feels extremely hot. What could this be? .
I had been poorly last week with cold like symptoms but also sore neck lymph nodes both under chin and back of neck. I have what I can only describe as crusty scab which bleeds up nose and blisterish bumps which weep on sole of foot. Could this be staph? If so is this common in healthy people or related to people with weakened immune systems?
The skin over the lump does not seem a diffirent pigment to it. i have not harmed my chin in several years soits not due to harm under my chin. also i have over active spit glands(dnt know tech. term) i have athritis, and i'm bi-poler, OCD, deppressed, and have anxity(bad). i take 50mg. zoloftevry morning to make it through school then i go home and sit around talking to my friends that get out early with me...
To make a long story short, I have been to doctors 7 times since tooth extraction for aches face, jaw, neck, ears clogging, upper left arm aching, swollen glands under chin, as well as two chest colds, and also diagnosed with sinusitis. I am now on my 5th round of antibotics in 8 months. And each time I finish I feel good for a week or two and the symptoms return.
If it is overfilled, you will need decompression surgery to take out the extra material and relieve pressure on the sensory nerve. In case of under filling it is important to treat the resulting abscess or infection with antibiotics .In severe cases nerve surgery may help the nerve to heal properly. If you are not satisfied with your doctors opinion it is suggested top seek second opinion and initiate treatment at the earliest. Hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Around April or May of last year I noticed a little bump just inside my nose. Since I've occasionally gotten small pimples just inside my nose I attempted to bust it. I actually got a little "white stuff", like one would get from a pimple, out of it but it was too painful to continue messing with. I left it alone after putting a cotton ball soaked with alcohol on it in the hopes that would dry it out and go away.
I got up to look in mirror then a instant sudden lump started forming under my chin on my neck throat area. It feels like a tumor but would think tumor just doesn't pop up. the lump feels like it goes down then come back i think. It hurts under my back tongue to open my mouth but that kinda went down. What could this be.? What you think the sudden lump that formed is? Not cancer i hope.
The tooth doesn't really hurt anymore but now it is the whole lower right side of my face. From under my ear (at the joint) all the way to my chin is tender, tight and swollen. Instead of having a curved jaw line, it's almost completely square on the right side. The right side of my lower lip is noticably raised. Also when I run my tongue between my teeth and cheek I can feel a lump. What's wrong with me? Should I go to urgent care or wait to see the dentist on Tuesday?
Thank you, he is better now, he had large abscess under his chin. The vet drained this and washed it and now he's on antibiotics and more Benadryl for 10 days and then in for a check up and shots updated. It was a very scary Sunday night, as he was not doing well. By yesterday afternoon he seemed more like himself, although the Benedryl sure does make him woozy, they told us to give him 2 in the morning and 2 at night.
On the right side of my neck under my chin close to the jaw bone hurts really bad, it is very tender to touch and it hurts when I swallow.
