Lymph nodes can be found in a variety of places in the body including the neck and under
the jaw and <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>chin</span>
. These can become swollen from infection, inflammatory conditions, abscess
, or even cancer. When swelling appears suddenly and is painful, injury or an infection ( which is the most common cause) may be considered. On the other hand, enlargement that comes on gradually and painlessly may, in some cases, result from malignancy.
