Avatar f tn I do have a weekly lesson on my mare and during the lesson we always get her going in a nice forward trot and ask for canter in the corner of the manege, if she does strike off on the wrong leg, then i bring her back to trot and ask again until she strikes off on the correct lead.I will read the article that you have supplied and practice on my next lesson.Out of interest, what kind of horse do you own? and what do you do with your horse?
Avatar f tn The nerve roots at the ends are called cauda equine. The terminal nerve root tail is the filum terminale. Conus medullaris syndrome and cauda equine syndrome are complex neurological disorders manifesting as back pain, unilateral or bilateral leg pain, paresthesias and weakness, perineum or saddle anesthesia, rectal and urinary incontinence. Hope this helps. Consult a neurologist for a detailed clinical evaluation if relevant. Take care.

Avatar m tn For the last 4 months or so Ive had a thickening of the skin over my right axillae. I has a huge abscess in the area which resolved spontaneously after antibiotics. I noticed the irregularity in my skin soon afterwards. The lump hasnt increased in size but it wont go away either. Any thoughts??....thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi angel114, Typically if a abscess forms you take antibiotics, and if it's bad enough they have to also be drained, you can't really "cut out" an abscess,at least not without taking healthy tissue with it. Your grandmother should receive a pelvic exam to determine the cause and extent of the abscess to determine the correct treatment,a small sample may also be taken to rule out cancer beings she is post menopausal.
Avatar m tn An abscess is basically a build up of pus and infection in the jaw bone area. I assume that since you've seen a dentist recently, it probably would've been spotted at your last checkup as they generally develop from large cavities. There are abscess that also develop from gum disease as well but assuming you had a cleaning and check up, thats also a little more unlikely. Best to get it checked out and taken care of.
Avatar f tn More specifically it is called Amoebic Liver Abscess. The abscess, if it is one, is relative small and can be cured by antibiotics. No need to go in for aspiration. It is 100% curable. Also go in for a blood test along with a liver function test to test the levels of the enzymes. But, FIRST consult a good gastroenterologist. I wouldnt worry if I were you.
Avatar n tn painful lumps in the anus/rectum, pain and swelling in the anus or buttocks area, painful bowel movements, fever/ or night sweats, and abdominal pain. Antibiotics treat the infection that has caused the abscess. The specific antibiotic depends on what infectious organism has caused the abscess. Whether the abscess is drained or not, antibiotics are always used to treat the underlying infection. Needle aspiration of the abscess to remove the infectious fluid.
Avatar n tn He is walking around on our Paddock Paradise track and eating hay. He is apparently uriniating and passing fecal waste in his normal fashion. No heat to feet, no tenderness to pinch test on sole. He has been barefoot all his life - mustang trimmed. He seems his usual bright, curious self - but his sheath is still swollen and I know he's uncomfortable because he's lagging behind the band and self isolating - NOT normal haflinger behavior!
15695260 tn?1549593113 Mosquitos are always a nuisance but they can be dangerous too if they carry "Eastern equine encephalitis" or EEE. This virus has been detected in chickens and is now spreading to humans via mosquito bites. So far, there have been on 7 reported cases but the death rate is very high with this mosquito borne virus. To protect yourself against EEE as well as West Nile Virus, be sure to use prevention methods to reduce risk of mosquito bites. https://www.medicinenet.
1666982 tn?1445198395 The reason I have reocurring fistulas was due to a abscess that was opened from the wrong direction, by a gynecologist. So maybe another abscess.

Avatar f tn Either your husband has been bitten by something or you have developed an abscess. If it is an abscess it will need to be drained. Take an anti-inflammatory analgesic like ibuprofen and an anti allergic and see if that helps. If it is an insect bite, it will improve. However if the insect’s sting is left inside, then also it will not heal unless the sting is removed. Keep the hand raised on a pillow kept beside him when he is lying—basically avoid the hand hanging down.
Avatar n tn From what you are describing I would think it may be a Bartholin's cyst or abscess. The Bartholin glands are in the lower portion of the vagina and while the cyst isn't supposed to be painful, the abscess is and I would imagine if the cyst were big enough it would hurt. You may want to see your gyn about this. Also you can google Bartholin's cyst and you will get a lot of information.
Avatar f tn This may be brought about by a break in the skin/areola, producing a superimposed infection and thus abscess formation. If there is an abscess, incision and drainage must be done and the specimen is sent to the pathologist for evaluation. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Over the past couple days I developed an extremely painful abscess. In an attempt to clean my mouth using coconut oil the abscess burst. I believe I didn't swallow any of the liquid leaking out and throughly rinsed my mouth with salt water and then some hydrogen peroxide. I will be receiving insurance in about 2 weeks from my new job so I am hoping I can hold off going to the dentist till then.
Avatar f tn The conus and cauda equine appear unremarkable. At L2-3, there is perhaps slight retrolistthesis of L2 on L3. Disc bulge. Right greater than left moderates exit foraminal narrowing. At L3-4' mild broad based disc bulge. Facet joint hyper trophy. Mild bilateral exit foraminal narrowing. At L4-5, disc bulge is seen with facet joint hypertrophy resulting in moderate left exit foraminal stenosis. Impression: slight retrolistthesis L2 on L3.
Avatar m tn Hi I woke up and felt a lump on my cheek (right) , I can't see anything in my gums and on my cheek it doesn't look swelled up , though you can definitely feel a lump Any ideas what it is or how to get rid of
Avatar f tn Most likely this horse has been tied to a post to try to "break it" from being head shy. These very old and barbaric methods of breaking a horses will often cause them to be afraid of people, very head shy for the rest of their lives. It is sad. You can really help this horse! We had a horse very much like this and she is now showing very well. But even today we are very gentle and careful around her head.
Avatar f tn Sorry for another question. Is the perianal abscess or the opening of an anal fistula considered as an open sore/wound? Many thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn Tooth numbness can be caused due to a number of reasons like apical abscess, pulpitis, impacted tooth, dental abscess, dental cavities. It would be better if you consult a good dentist for the purpose at the earliest.
691614 tn?1227464651 I have a white lump that has appeared in my gum above my front tooth. It isn't painful but when pressed I feel pressure on my tooth. It has been there about 3 weeks now. What it is?
Avatar f tn Hi, lump in the gums above and adjacent to the teeth most commonly can be tooth abscess or fistula opening due to infected tooth. You may just check out any frank cavity or food imapaction area in related teeth to the swelling. In such case you may need antibiotics and root canal treatment of the affected tooth with the help of a dentist. Other possibilties could be pyogenic granuloma, fibroma, periodontal abscess etc. Check out with local dentist to confirm.
