abscess

1170694 tn?1285097509 Is there an odor to the hoof, especially when you pick the hoof? It may be that your horse has a fungal/bacterial infection such as Thrush. This can come about in moist environments, living in a paddock where manure it not removed daily, or not picking the hooves daily. The horse's foot conformation could also be set up to hold moisture therefore contributing to the problem Please let me know the answers to my questions and I can better help you. Have you had a vet look at it yet?
Avatar m tn I let her stand up and picked up each paw the same way I would a horse needing hoof work. Got to where she saw the bottle and stood stock still until I ran a hand down a leg and she immediately gave me her paw. Made it really easy to work the Dermachlor in between her toe pads where it needed to be.
Avatar f tn I know from experience that it can be sometimes difficult to have the horse pick up the wrong lead....and it is all about communicaiton and teaching the horse by your aids what you want him to do. It's important to ask just at the right moment. Just practice, and pretty soon, you will be doing flying lead changes !!!! :-) I have a Hanoverian that I do Dressage with and basic Hunt Seat equitaiton. He also jumps.
Avatar f tn We have wormed him, we feed him hi fibre pony nuts in the morning and happy hoof in the evening, he is groomed nearly everyday and only ridden about twice a week doing light work, can anyone help?
Avatar f tn My Doctor said to me when I started just because you hear hoof beats do not assume zebras. Sometimes the answer is common place like a horse instead. If you do end up with a Neurologist the testing may take years and be very extensive. Over two years I had test after test every six months. I am sorry you have to go through this and are worried. Again I would start with my General Practitioner.
Avatar f tn Anyways, on Sunday I was handling my horses and my mare got jealous when a gelding approached me and she struck out with her front right hoof. Unfortunately, I was nailed in my lower left pelvic area instead of her target. My doctor and a nurse at the office said its too early for a mild trauma like that to cause any damage when I called on Sunday and then again today. I have normal cramps and no bleeding....but I'm super paranoid!
Avatar n tn Often surgery is the only way to remove these infections. It is likely that the antibiotic you are taking may not affect the specific strain of bacteria in the infection. You may require an in-hospital intravenous infusion. There are many new strains of bacteria around that will not die when subjected to the usual round of broad spectrum antibiotics. I would suggest you see a specialist in infection and wound care for a consult.
1462810 tn?1327360449 I'm so tired of prescribed meds causing more problems than they cure - one prescription leading to side-effects that lead to another prescription and on and on. Antibiotics are a perfect case in point, they destroy the body's natural good bacteria and yeasts - totally vital to your health and wellbeing, totally.
Avatar f tn I take Biotin, Biosil, get adequate amounts of protein, rub "Hoof Saver with Collagen" on nails, but they are still flaking. Suggestions?
Avatar m tn Dear Guys, I developed abscess three times with in two weeks interval in my groin area.....the last two were big and required surgery with full ansthesia. My doc therefore suggested to escape the shot at least for one week so i did not take the shot last week. I continued to take it again but I developed another abscess on the preannal position. I am afraid it will force me to discontinue the therapy. Has any one exprienced such problem during therapy?

Avatar m tn I had a cracked tooth,I waited and put off something being done about it,and it became abscess,a pocket formed underneath it and also my jaw swelled up an I believe became infected, I went to the doctor, they numbed and drained the pocket, and gave me 2 antibiotics and a pain med, I'm no longer in pain (the cracked tooth is a little loose) but its been going on 3 days of antis and no change has occurred, is that normal? should I go back to the doctor?
Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
Avatar m tn The longer you wait, the more risk you take with an abscess and the lower the success of your treatment as the infection will spread and cause further harm.
Avatar n tn It is possible that acute abscess has been developing. It is best to get an appropriate evaluation and treatment done. If there was a root canal done in the above tooth? In few cases root canals can fail due to branching and convolutions of the tooth roots. See your dentist at the earliest. Treatment will be specific based on the cause. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn -) Given the asthma, blood clot and vericose veins my thought was that these particular hoof beats might be coming from a horse and not a zebra... Kyle (not a doc!
Avatar f tn How long has it been since the horse was treated/wormed and which medication was used? There are different meds, some are more effective than others depending on the parasite involved.
Avatar f tn I had fallen the beginning of last week because I passed out, and I hit a lot of random objects when I fell. The problem is right on my lower back on the top of the illiac crest. I figured I hurt a muscle, right after the fall that area got extremely hard to the touch, harder then I've ever felt a muscle get. I've had whiplash and things where my muscles are tight, but never like this. This feels like concrete. Touching it only in that area makes me fly through the roof from the pain.
Avatar n tn If there's an abscess, root canal treatment should resolve the problem. If not, a re-treatment of the root canal is possible or an apicoectomy in which they remove the tip of the infected root along with the infection in that area. Referral to a specialist for the procedure may be necessary.
Avatar f tn I was reading McDonalds sweet tea. Sound hoof my favorite thing in the world since I got pregnant is happy hour at sonic real fruit slushies.
Avatar f tn I have this condition. The cause is unknown. It is incurable but treatment can help. Abscesses can be treated with oral and topical antibiotics, though some need to be lanced. Losing weight helps to reduce the occurrence rate in overweight people. I had to get surgery due to the frequency and severity of the abscesses in my right armpit. The doctors removed my sweat gland and all of the skin that had hair.
Avatar f tn Hello is any one know what is treatment for liver abscess.what should i want to eat.how much time take for recovery.
Avatar n tn I went to my regular dentist on 1/13/06 and xrays showed a large abscess in tooth #10, as well as a smaller abscess in tooth #20. On 1/17/06 I had a RCT done on tooth #10, as well as an incision in the roof of my mouth behind that tooth to help extract the infection. On 1/19/06, I had a RCT done on tooth #20, with one 0.05mm post placed. I have been on Antibiotics since 1/13/06, taking Penicillin VK 500mg QID, so I'm now on my Eighth day of antibiotics.
Avatar f tn As you are having reoccurring problems with the Bartholin gland, ask your doctor to refer you to a gynaecologist. For now, you should see your doctor for a prescription of antibiotics to get rid of any infection. If the abscess has not come to a head yet, soak in a hot bath to help it come to a head. If the abscess keeps flaring up, it is likely that the root had not been removed or there is a blockage of the gland itself. If any abscess root is left, will just flare up again.
