abscess

1170694 tn?1285097509 Is there an odor to the hoof, especially when you pick the hoof? It may be that your horse has a fungal/bacterial infection such as Thrush. This can come about in moist environments, living in a paddock where manure it not removed daily, or not picking the hooves daily. The horse's foot conformation could also be set up to hold moisture therefore contributing to the problem Please let me know the answers to my questions and I can better help you. Have you had a vet look at it yet?
Avatar f tn It will be the best buy you ever make, becuase it will save your horse and you alot of stress. Make sure though as he is putting on weight he also puts on muscle to prevent hightened chances of lameness. Best bet, 15 minutes of straight trot on the bit and lots of turning, as well as 10 minutes of walk-trot-halt-trot-to what ever you want next transitions to gt him using his back.
Avatar m tn I let her stand up and picked up each paw the same way I would a horse needing hoof work. Got to where she saw the bottle and stood stock still until I ran a hand down a leg and she immediately gave me her paw. Made it really easy to work the Dermachlor in between her toe pads where it needed to be.
Avatar f tn Chiropractors can do wonders and I use one regularly on my horse. A bit of training will help you to help your mare pick up the correct lead at the canter. Here is a good article to get you started. It is by Jane Savoie. http://ezinearticles.com/?Canter-On-The-Correct-Lead-Everytime!&id=775501 Is your mare a thoroughbred? Sometimes from racing, they can get used to just the left lead and may be a bit more difficult to train to pick up the right lead. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn To start, I'm only 15 weeks.....but there was no forum for under 18! Anyways, on Sunday I was handling my horses and my mare got jealous when a gelding approached me and she struck out with her front right hoof. Unfortunately, I was nailed in my lower left pelvic area instead of her target. My doctor and a nurse at the office said its too early for a mild trauma like that to cause any damage when I called on Sunday and then again today. I have normal cramps and no bleeding....
Avatar n tn But the main one that is concerning me now is one that I recently noticed on his bottom jaw - on the bone it seems. I checked his teeth, they are fine, no abscess that I can see. He eats like a horse and plays as usual. I have him on Blue Wilderness Salmon Recipe dog food. Should I be concerned and take him to the vet?
Avatar f tn I take Biotin, Biosil, get adequate amounts of protein, rub "Hoof Saver with Collagen" on nails, but they are still flaking. Suggestions?
Avatar f tn My Doctor said to me when I started just because you hear hoof beats do not assume zebras. Sometimes the answer is common place like a horse instead. If you do end up with a Neurologist the testing may take years and be very extensive. Over two years I had test after test every six months. I am sorry you have to go through this and are worried. Again I would start with my General Practitioner.
Avatar f tn I was reading McDonalds sweet tea. Sound hoof my favorite thing in the world since I got pregnant is happy hour at sonic real fruit slushies.
Avatar m tn Judging by your description, it is most likely a fistula which is a tract that forms from the abscess of your infected tooth that escapes out to the gums. As long as the fistula in intact, your abscess can drain and slow down the spread of the abscess but if the fistula closes up, the abscess can spread rapidly through your face or neck area. I would recommend seeing a dentist and getting treatment started.
Avatar n tn I am 40 yrs old male .i had an abscess on my right hip i consult the doctor ,he suggest me an antibiotic twice for four days.after 3-4 days another abscess develop just 10mm above and again after 2-3 days 10mm another abscess develop but i am taking antibiotic regularly .what are the reason of repeating abscess & what is the permanent treatment to get rid of these.
1861321 tn?1319920903 another doctor recommended us to make him some silicon hoof which will make him walk on his entire hoof. and of course...for the muscles...swimming is an idea. the problem is that our vet didn't saw cases like this until now and is kind of difficult to advice us what we shall do...so i have started to search the internet..and the vet is reading from his books..and he tries to get some knoledge about this problem.
Avatar f tn Do any of your teeth hurt? Sounds like you have an infection or abscess. If an abscess in the teeth goes unattended the infection will spread into the jaw and cause a lump. You need to get checked out ASAP!! If left untreated, the infection will spread into your blood stream.
Avatar m tn 3 days ago I competed in a bicycle race (not sure if this is connected to my situation) and a few hours after the event I noticed a small lump on my buttocks quite close to my anus. It was soar to the touch but otherwise no bother. The next morning when I woke up it doubled in sized. By the afternoon it grew to about 2 inches in length and 1 inch wide. It is firm to the touch and seems to be located a little bit under my skin but not so deep that I can not feel it well.
Avatar f tn ve picked up cycling about 40-50 miles per week along with strenuous training and noticed a solo abscess on my labia after a cycle session where I had tight fitting underwear. I popped the abscess and some white fluid came out, and it's still raised but steadily getting smaller with neosporin application. I have never had sex and the last time oral happened was late 2013.
Avatar n tn I have a bum on my gum on the left side of my face behind the last tooth. Some people are saying it might be a caker sore or an abscess. The bump became bigger and I noticed a white substance inside of the bump. It grew bigger than with the help of hot water and salt it began to drain. First question what is this on my gum? How long does it take to heal? and Should I go to the dentist after it fully heals?
Avatar f tn My child has an abscess on her left lower ear area, I kept on asking her if she ever feel any pain on that area but she said never and she's not even affected by it. But I am worried cause I always touched it and even massaged it with VCO. Please help, let me know what will it cause to her health....
Avatar m tn I have been having problems with a cyst or abscess that was what I am going to call dormant for a long time. I had it checked by a dermatologist he said since it was in the muscle part of my back he would not recommend to have it cut out...Now its inflamed went to a clinic they said to just heat compress it then wet to my PCP who game me SULFA and some pain killers told me also to heat compress it...now it is no longer HOT it was a HOT spot but now it looks PURPLE.
Avatar n tn they did a ct and found out that it was an abscess. it was 1 inch by 3/8 inch big. they gave me iv rocephin and drained the abscess. they put me on 250mg of keflex 4 x a day and 300mg of clindamycin 4 x a day for the next 10 days. talked to my dentist this morning and have a follow up appt. with him on weds. then if all goes well i will hopefully get the tooth that is causing all of this pulled next week.
Avatar n tn As rightly mentioned this seems to be a recurring abscess. Generally a dead tooth nerve gets infected and forms an abscess. Please contact your dentist immediately.
Avatar n tn many, many years ago (at least 10), i found a small, somewhat hard lump on the lower right side of my labia majora. until very recently, it has never bothered me in any way. however, just a couple of days ago, it has started to be quite painful and it appears to have grown a little in size and darkened. please tell me what this is.
Avatar f tn Ironically, I went to the dentist on Monday but I felt the sore come on before then as I felt pressure against the sore spot before it happened. What would cause pus to drain out? Thank you for your time.
334876 tn?1229979296 My horse is eating ok and looks good but just below his jaw bones on his neck are two large lumps on both sides, we had rubbed them and put on hot and cold packs to try and get them down, we have no real vet here in this part of Alaska so any help on this please
1462810 tn?1327360449 t natural to the human body. So all those hormone prescriptions were based on pregnant female horse urine... now they're trying to enter the bio-identical hormone market by transmuting natural substances (wild yams, for instance) into molecules identical to horse homones -- in other words, they'll call them "natural" (not "bio-identical") and continue to sell their cancer-causing poison. Interesting, huh?
1521268 tn?1291123879 The other possibilities are a cyst (usually grows big or small depending on the fluid in it), a neurofibroma (localized harmless swelling in a nerve), lipoma (localized collection of fat), a swollen lymph node, an abscess, or folliculitis (hair follicle infection). An abscess can be hot or warm if it is infective due to bacteria and it can be cold without heat if it is a tubercular abscess.
Avatar n tn Yes. Abscesses will often clear up on their own, but in the mouth region, there's a serious danger of tooth loss. You can call around and see if there's some sort of low/ no cost vet care in your area. Depending on what government programs you're on, you'd be eligible.
334876 tn?1229979296 The child could simply be running the horse into the ground while on trails, or maybe the horse just sweats a lot which is 100% possible. Sweating is good! It helps the body from over heating, a horse who sweats more than a horse who hardly sweats has a smaller risk of becoming over heated and suffering from heat stroke.
