abilify vs seroquel

I mix seroquel and abilify without issued only the Abilify has finally gotten my appetite under control and im losing weight Seroquel causes weight gain but nothing like the weight gain with Zyprexa.

Just told me to exercise, and eat better. Gave me Abilify instead of that Seroquel and told me to come back in two weeks.

I went off Seroquel and tried Abilify and one other (cant remember) but they did not work. I am now backon Seroquel 300 miligrams along with my Lithium and Pexeva. I feel like it doesnt work as well as it did the first time. I went up to 450 with Seroquel, but I am just way too sleepy. Does anyone know a drug that works well with Pexeva and Lithium? My biggest problems are racing thoughts and anxiety when I am off of the Seroquel. Help!

put me on Seroquel first and then added Abilify recently (20mg), and it seems to bump up the benefits of Seroquel of which I now take 700mg per day, plus I take Cipralex 30mg (anti-depressant). It seems to be working for me, so far, but as you know its all trial and error. Some people say they gained weight from Abilify, I havent as of yet, but I did gain weight with the Seroquel, but the benefits outweigh the side effects.

I have been taking a number of medications since I turned 21 in 2008, the first being Prozac, Adderall, and Seroquel. I was only prescribed Seroquel for as long as my doctor wanted to "observe possible Bipolar symptoms".... after about 3 months he took me off Seroquel. DX with Cyclothymia and was given script for Effexor, then Seroquel and now Abilify. Dumped Seroquel down toilette and want to do the same with Abilify. Pristiq was the best and want to find MD who will put me on that.

Talk to your doctor. Seroquel works well instead of Abilify as you know (why did you change?) but there are others in the same class of drugs as well that are good medications. There are several to choose from. Seroquel is one and if it worked before, no reason to change. But that is between you and your doctor. You should definitely start there. That issue can impact erections as well as poor mental health can affect this. Get the mental health sorted. Then get penis sorted.

50mg seroquel, 1mg risperidone, 1mg stellazin (typical antipsychotic) my last mania 4 years ago. I extinguished it by 300 seroquel. After which I kept reducing seroquel dose, until a month ago succeed till 50. Perhaps at this dose no antidepressant effect of it. Perhaps should be higher than that. Already I am BPII so depression is my problem.

ve tried Abilify at age 12, not supposed to use it under age 18; so it did not exactly work right. Seroquel? Abilify again? Lamotrigine? Carbamazepine? Others or generics of any of them?

One thing you might ask your doctor if you can try is stopping the seroquel and starting abilify in its place. Abilify is approved as a monotherapy or adjunct treatment for BP I, and is also approved as an antidepressant add-on, so if depression is your problem, it might work. You could also try other mood stabilizers like depakote, which has pretty good antimanic effects, or tegretol, or lamictal if you mainly get depression. Also, have you ever tried lithium?

I used to take Abilify and while I was on it, I gained almost 50 pounds. I had an unquencable appetite. I ate constantly. After coming off of that - i have lost all of my weight. He put me on Geodon after Abilify didn't work and I have lost weight like crazy in the last 6 months. I am tapering off of Geodon now and will only be on Lamictal for the first time since my initial psychotic break a few years ago. I hope I don't gain weight again!

My husband - also bipolar - takes Seroquel too. He started on Abilify, had bad side effects, and was switched to Seroquel. He loves it. Good luck in your research and in finding the right cocktail.

I told my doctor about it, and she changed the Zeldox, which was 80mg daily to Abilify, which I take 10mg in the morning and 10mg at noon. Will this add on assist with the weight gain? How does Abilify affect the Quetiapine? I would like to drop the noon (100mg) Quetiapine at noon as it tends to make me too tired all day.

Abilify is one of the newer atypical anti-psychotic medications. It is also known as aripiprazole.

is anyone on saphris? my pdoc changed me from seroquel and abilify to this new med, which i start tonight. the other 2 was causing my blood sugar and pressure to start going up. i felt fine taking this combo but don't want to take 2 more meds for blood sugar and blood pressure.

I too am pleased with the Seroquel, but I would like to see if Abilify helps, I just dont want to go through the terrible reaction I have had with the new meds. Are there any that do not make you anxious or gain weight - this is the question I am searching an answer for.....I guess its all trial and error?

Seroquel is an anti-psychotic medication. Yes, in most people it does make them very sleepy. 14 hours a night not abnormal for someone taking Seroquel if they are sensitive to it or new to the drug. May I suggest asking your P-doc about Seroquel XR. It is an extended release formula of the drug and should be easier for you to tolerate. Many people report that after switching to the XR formula that they can take it during the day once they get used to the drug.

I was on Abilify for a few weeks but found that it was not effective. I was on Seroquel for a several months but went off due to weight gain. Was switched over to Geodon, which was the worst drug I was ever on. The side effects were alarming. I'm now back on the Seroquel 200mg/day and find that it stabilizes my mood, and helps me to sleep, which has always been a huge issue. Unfortunately medication is trial and error.

m a little afraid of the seroquel. i develpoed a bad twitching in the right side of my face from the abilify. and it was only 1mg. hope someone has some answers.

t tolerate Geodon, it made me worse but 2mg of Abilify saved my life! I also now take it with 100mg of Seroquel at night and I feel better than I have in years. I also take lasix because Abilify caused me to retain water but the lasix does the job and I'm still loosing some weight I was trying to get off anyway. If you do notice weight gain, actual pounds, not feeling bigger, talk to your doc about a diuretic and see if that helps but a highly doubt you'll gain on Abilfy.

I have taken Abilify before and it didn't seem to do anything. I took Seroquel and had to stop it for side effects. I took Geodon a very long time ago but don't remember how it effected me. I wish I didn't have all these side effects with the Risperdal it is working well for me otherwise.

my depression is usually not severe, still i can't function without an antidepressant. Thus the dilemma --> manic --> antipsychotics --> lethargic --> antidepressant ... i.e. the usual My meds are the least dosage: 1mg risperidone, 25mg seroquel, 12.5mg stablon (AD) but it's the instability that suffocates me. So if I can find some supplement adjunct to my AD then i can lessen my dosage of AD which in fact i tried it once and found myself doing well but my energy was low.

my dr changed me from abilify and serquel to trazone and saphris. i was ok for about 3 days then started to feel sick, nausa chills muscle aches ect ect. i don't think it was a virus. but my question----can you have withdraws going of one type of meds and going on another that is simalar. i think going off serquel cold turkey and abilify is what did me in or maybe side effects from the new meds. i took the old meds yesterday and not the new ones and already feel better.

Hello, I take Lithium and Seroquel . The Seroquel increase's appetite and weight gain but i have no issue's with Lithium except dry mouth and dehydration sometime's ,so i drink lot's of water . It's a mood stabilizer and work's well for me and you need regular blood test's so your Lithium levels are not too high .

hello, i was put on abilify after falling into a severe depression when my father passed away. within a few days i could feel the depression lift and did ok for a few months. then i crashed into another depression for no real reason. increasing the dose did'nt help.i was taken off and put on wellbutrion and seroquel and decreased the lexapro to 10mgs. i'm feeling somewhat better. but i don't like the seroquel. and really don't know why i was put on it.
