Welbutrin, Cymbalta, and Effexor are all SNRIs - serotonin norepinepherine reuptake inhibitors. How were you doing on Cymbalta and Abilify? Could the depression be caused by going off the Abilify by any chance? I don't know much about Abilify; it's just a tought to consider. I'd definitely give Effexor more time to work. You are on a pretty small dose, compared to what most people need. Many individuals I know are on more, but DON'T play with that by yourself, please!

To those who have switched from one antipsychotic to Abilify how did you find it worked comparitively. To anyone who is on it, would you suggest taking it? How has it helped you? I ask because I am on Ziprexa (Geodone in the US) and it causes me some agitation.

I just went back on Abilify since Geodon sent me into another world. I took it before and it worked but I gained weight so they took me off. I can't remember how long it was before it started to make a dent in my BP. I've been manic and this is the 1st time this has happened. Maybe it was the meds? I'm scared because I'm technically not medicated until the Abilify kicks in. Anyone know from experience?

I need to know if abilify decreases methadone? Has anyone been on these two meds at the same time? Can you tell me how it made you feel? I was prescribed abilify but haven't started it yet because I am unsure of the interaction. Some say it causes withdrawal for the methadone and some say it increases methadone, talk about confusing!! my 10yr old son has been on a regimen of 1300mg lithium and 5mg abilify since age 7 due to aggresive behavior towards family and self mutalation.Was hospitalized at Walker Art,Needham Mass to get satabilized..meds worked for the better part.He was recently taken off abilify 5 wks ago-the past 3plus wks he has returned to his behavior not seen since age of 7.Drs wanted to try him on triliptal which been on over wk now,nothing has improved more so worsened.

I have only started the Abilify so far on day 3 … I was supposed to start together but I dropped the pristiq bottle and pills fell on floor now because of contamination ocd I can’t take them and insurance won’t pay for a refill yet so doctor says just take the Abilify for now , I’m noticing it is helping me to change my behavior versus the ssri just kinda helped me manage my existing behaviors but never had courage or motivation to change my behaviors so I’m hoping that’s where Abilify will come

I went to the doc about an hour ago and he gave me effexor and Abilify i know nothing about it could you plz tell me about it? are they any side effects? Does it help and how long does it take to start helping??

Saw doc again today. He didn't say there was anything of concern in my blood work. He asked about my drinking and I told time how much I drank but I've stopped. My blood pressure was a little low but he didn't say anything about that. Didn't say anything about my dizziness/vertigo. Just told me to exercise, and eat better. Gave me Abilify instead of that Seroquel and told me to come back in two weeks.

Has anyone experienced stuttering as a side effect of taking Abilify? If so did the stuttering resolve eventually or did you have to go off the medication? Did anyone ever seek speech therapy for stuttering related to Abilify, and if you did, was it helpful?

t die from this, I know that my anxiety will increase big time. However, how long will the symptoms last and what else can I expect? I have been off the Abilify for 4 days and recently today started experiencing increased anxiety. Any input is appreciated.

with no research on the effects of abilify on children how am I to know whether this medicine will endanger my MR adhd 9 year old child .he is also on strattera.

When I was on Abilify although it was helpful I experienced some anxiety and agitation and insomnia. Some of those issues are not uncommon as Abilify unlike other antipsychotics instead of being sedating can often be activating. Is that some of what you are experiencing?

My son takes 7.5 mg abilify in morning since Jan.'13 . Some days, he will feel so sleepy whatever he does, other days he will be fine. Can this random sleepiness be attributed to abilify? Thanks.

my doc suggested Abilify to add. I had already put on 30lbs from lexapro, which is part of becoming depressed again. I have been on the Abilify for 6days now & can tell it is having a positive impact on me. I have had enough motivation to work out the past two days & I am really watching what I'm eating. This is provided Abilify helps you, if not, I would see about switching too. Geodon is in the family with Abilify and it works fast too, like within a couple weeks. Just a suggestion. Cymbalta was another one that helped my panic attacks, I went on that after being on Prozac for 8 or 9 years. It works faster than Prozac but slower than celexa & lexapro.

The medications the doctor gave me- ABILIFY and ZOLOFT aren’t working. I was going through serious highs and lows. I wanted something else, something without all the side effects. I was always interested in Medical Marijuana and so I took it upon myself to learn as much as I could about it. I have used Abilify for several years. I have not gained weight but lost it instead. I was started on Depakote though & did gain a signifcant amount of weight. But nothing compared to when they put me on Zyprexa. I had every side effect known while on it. I won't say how much weight, but it was considerable... They have put me on Abilify like I said for years, increasing the dose a lil' at a time, till I now take the maximum dose of 30 mg....

Abilify and Geodon are pretty different in terms of pharmacology. Abilify is in a category of its own as a partial dopamine (D2) antagonist.
