Abilify half life

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify half life

abilify

202665 tn?1248806733 It depends on the half-life of the drug. One half-life means half of it is out of your systems, the second half-life means half of that half is out, and so on. It is generally accepted that after 7 half-lifes that a drug is entirely out.
899491 tn?1243773627 I'm also on Abilify 5mg right now. That's half the recommended starting dose but they cut it in half and give it to me instead because I experienced headache and nausea starting it even though I told them I could handle it. I sort of experienced the same thing on Geodon but it took longer for my mind's BS to return.
Avatar f tn It does have a short half life but it depends what it was treating. When I took it it was as its primary use as an antipsychotic but I could not tolerate it so I was changed back to the one I had been on before in a short time frame. Maybe it would be best to ask your psychiatrist how they made their decision.
Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.
1806584 tn?1316208037 Well, I'm on day 5 of no Abilify and so far it's going well. I sleep better, feel more at peace with myself and feel a bit more clear headed. Why I didn't taper off was because Abilify has a half life of over 3 days and my pdoc trusted me enough to quit it all together at once. I won't be replacing the Abilify with another antipsychotic though, risperdal and zyprexa worked horribly for me. This is more of an experiment to see if I can survive on Lamotrigine alone.
Avatar f tn m currently prescribed 50 mg of Methadone and 10 mg Abilify but I have noticed a major increase of drowsiness. I have even lowered and started taking half of my abilify and split dosing my methadone and I have been able to function much better and much lower feeling of drowsiness through the day. I also have tired to go a day and a half without abilify and noticed restless legs.
1305767 tn?1361192676 t like it because I still felt doped when I got up and he told me to break it in half.
440120 tn?1211724496 I found out that my Pharmacy has a program for me to get Abilify for free so I want to give it a try. I was wondering if there are any bad side affects to look out for.
1696867 tn?1312609591 Hi Bec, I just wanted to say that my husband is BP II and he is on abilify. He had side effects too, He is still on abilify but now takes welbiterin also. It is a life saver for him and me. Ther abilify helped with the mood disorder but it left him sad most of the time. So now with the welbuterin, it is another step forward. I take Effexor and he did too at one time but his Pyschiatrist told him she does not like the effects of Effexor and Abilify together.
1255530 tn?1269867619 I only share basically half of your diagnosis but I am on Abilify currently for psychosis. It works better than Geodon did in different ways but worse in others but I like it better than Geodon worked for me. Namely Abilify has treated my paranoia and inability to express myself which Geodon never touched which ruined my quality of life significantly but it is not working as great for my hallucinations and things like that.
Avatar f tn Abilify is often activating. Lamictal can make a person manic in higher doses. I did stay on Lamictal comfortably for 10 years but I was only able to last a week on Abilify as it had a caffeine like effect. If they need you to start on an antipsychotic there are other choices and recently a new antipsychotic (similar to the current ones but each person tolerates each one differently) Saphris was FDA approved so when that is released in the pharmacies that's one more choice.
Avatar n tn how long will a 2mg dose of abilify last. It's given at night but i am wondering if there will still be benifits the next day.
Avatar f tn Regardless of what they are treating any decrease in the dose of Abilify would lead to it being less effective so that should be discussed with a psychiatrist and as Tegretol (one of the names for the medication you are speaking of) that medication has a short half life (time it remains in the blood stream) so it can easily run out during the day and the dosage and titration and spacing of it should be discussed with a psychiatrist to prevent this from happenning.
Avatar m tn thanks for the honest response. I dont expect any miracle drugs and I know side effects come with all drugs and everything for that matter but i literally cannot sleep on this stuff. I was always under the impression that abilify was added to the use of an already used antidepressant, i didnt know you can use it by itself? Anyways I will definitely look into it. Do other SSRIs effect sleep the same way, or does it depend on the specific persons brain chemistry etc.
2080475 tn?1332126191 decided to quit taking it on a monday felt fine all week untill sun when i went into serious withdrawl! so as far as half life im not sure? but you can bet i was back on it mon! so i guess it was in my system for 6 days after i stopped. p.s.
Avatar f tn ?? Does anyone know the Half life of SUBOXONE - Beprenorphine.? I HEARD it was 70 hours, but that's what I heard....unsure if that is even accurate?
535882 tn?1396576685 whats the half life for syntriod. about how much time does it take to build up in you and also leave your system?
Avatar f tn Did you ever discuss maybe taking a more long term acting benzo like Klonopin? Xanax is usually prescribed short term and on an as needed basis because of its short half life. Also, could he be depressed because of his condition? I know when I was going through this I would sleep all day and not want to do much of anything else. I also am extremely impressed that you are involved in helping your husband overcome this.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been on Abilify for many years now. I have tried in the past to get off of it, but depression seems to hit right away. I stopped it again a few weeks ago and now am really depressed and just want to cry and stay in bed(esp since I do not even want to get dressed) am going to start back up on the Abilify to get back to being even. Just didn't want to have to stay on med for the rest of my life. I felt good right after I stopped it, more energy, more motivation, then this.
574118 tn?1305135284 He substituted tegretol with Abilify as my MS. I heard well of Abilify and I happen to have come across http://www.askdrjones.com/2005/02/14/ranking-the-mood-stabilizers/ . To tell you the truth I became happy because I know tegretol needs blood tests, etc…while abilify has a few side effects except some anxiety. I only became suspicious about its potency as a mood stabilizer. Otherwise why do pdocs recommend always one of the triads (lithium, depakote, tegretol) or lamictal lately.
603015 tn?1329862973 I started going through withdrawals and psychological rebounds and such only a few hours after time to take one medication where I was forced to go through cold turkey withdrawl and it kept getting more intense and then after a while my psychological problems came back in full force worse than ever.
