abilify

918275 tn?1254068752 I am on Abilify 20mg and I have absolutely no energy. I am in bed for 3 and 4 days at a time. I am getting really discouraged. I am better mentally than I was, but I am zombie like, unable to participate in my own life. Is the Abilify causing this? Or perhaps I need another medication added? I don't know what to think.
Avatar f tn We don't all have the dame chemical imbalances or mental ailments.. for example, a person with ADHD uses Adderall to calm down where as college students without ADHD use it for speed - to keep them focused. Or in my experience.. I have watched people take benzos & nod out, while I actually needed them & they gave me energy making me talk alot lol. Medications are different for everyone.
1240654 tn?1268317515 I was on abilify for a bit. I hated it. It stopped all my thoughts. It basically turned me into a zombie. I went off of it and switched to seroquel, which I prefered. Seroquel causes weight gain and drowsiness, though. I gained about 20 lbs on it. I would take the dose at night but it was so drowsy that I would be hung over in the morning so I started splitting the dose and taking it 3 times a day which meant that I was drowsy all the time but functioning.
603543 tn?1255294450 5mg to help regulate my sleep, which sounded great to me since I do not remember the last time I had a good night sleep. He also put me on a low dose of abilify 2mg for a week then up it to 4 mg a day. I slept good last night, went right off to sleep and did not wake up, still woke up tired, shucks!! but the kittne woke me up so who knows what time i would have slept too...
Avatar m tn My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
202665 tn?1248806733 So, my pdoc mixes in yet another drug in my ever growing cocktail - Abilify. The plan is to start taking this to better control my hypomania and depressed states when they happen since the lamictal doesn't seem to be doing it. She's asked me to use the Abilify at night in place of the lamictal and if that works, replace lamictal all together - no change to the cymbalta or lithium. Does anyone have any information on Abilify - has it worked, any side affects, etc?
712802 tn?1274645485 I have not been having irrational or psychotic thoughts, but I have been tired a lot. The hope is that the Abilify will give me some energy without side effects. I'm 57 year old male and have been on pain meds for five years due to disc issues, stenosis, severe arthritis, and fibromyalgia. Has anyone else had experience with taking Cymbalta and Abilify?
918275 tn?1254068752 Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if Abilify has helped for the depressive side of bipolar II? Also I am wondering about something. I am newly diagnosed and under my psych's care I have only had one hypomanic episode. Preventing hypomanic episodes seems to be what my doc is focusing most strongly on, but what about the depressive side, which is where I have the most trouble.
Avatar f tn My doctor is trying to raise my energy level and simplify my meds. W ould ambilify help with energy? These seem like alot of meds to me,( my fomer doctor kept adding them as the depression did not get better). I am stable now but feel neither here nor there sort of emotionless. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Avatar m tn I have been on Abilify for 2 months or so, give or take. I am not schizophrenic, Bi-Polar, or Autistic. I just suffer from Panic Attacks. My Doctor prescribed me Abilify as an enhancer for my Paxil/Xanax cocktail. Long story short, I was taking 2mg of abilify once a day. Recently My Insurance decided they were going to be the Doctor and my funding for the Abilify ran out. I am not going to pay $543.00 for meds can't afford it and think that price is ludicrous.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am withdrawing cold turkey from Abilify 15mgs. My psych provider refuses to change my medication to something else and won’t see me for another 3 weeks. I’m gaining weight on the abilify and I cannot take anymore. I am recovering from anorexia nervosa and have been at a healthy weight for a few months now so the added weight is unbearable. My question is if excessive sweating is a withdrawal side effect that anyone here has experienced and if so how long does this last?
Avatar f tn Pllease don't drink!! There are so many medications out there, you just didn't get started off on the right one. I suggest you see your psychiatrist, not a family doctor, and see about a new medication. They don't all make you groggy and foggy. I take 2mg of Abilify and it's been a godsend. I have my energy, finally and I was like you, on the couch unable to do anything for months. I was diagnosed with depression but come to find out it was bipolar.
Avatar n tn When I looked up weight gain and bipolar medications, Abilify was at the bottom of the list for weight gain, Geodon people gained the least then Abilify. I'm on 2mg. of Abilify and in the begining you tend to feel sleepy, that's why they start you on it at bedtime. I would be surprised if Abilify caused a racing heart but you definately have to tell your doc about that. I was also on Wellbutrin and had to come off because it caused to much anxiety.

Avatar m tn I took Abilify and Effexor (seperately) as well, Abilify was the last drug aimed at controling my largely depressive BP. It made me feel blah, less deeply depressed, but it gave me the rare side effect of blurred vision! It was taking a dosage of Effexor which gave me my first flamingly manic episode and caused me to be rediagnosed from severe depression to BP.
574118 tn?1305135284 So if I can find some supplement adjunct to my AD then i can lessen my dosage of AD which in fact i tried it once and found myself doing well but my energy was low. I heard that addreal can be useful. Perhaps abilify is an AP that works alone without an AD. Would you kindly suggest something. i.e. abilify say if it doesn't really need an AD.
1696867 tn?1312609591 They put her on Lithium and then added abilify a week later. The abilify gave her horrible side effects and I never want to see my daughter in that condition again! I detest the drug Abilify. It is a reckless drug in my opinion. I have been prescribed Lamictal now for 3 years. It is the right med for me. I am not on the floor with depression and do not gain weight. I wish some could challenge their docs.
526311 tn?1229286330 hey anyone heard of addiction or abuse of abilify? its an anti-psycotic ive recently been put on and im scared, as everyday medicines seem to get me. (no more phenobarbital btw) Id appreciate info.
Avatar n tn Doc replaced the geodon with abilify 15mg a week ago and I have great energy. Im afraid I will gain weight rather than lose, but I am more active so I have hope I will lose more weight ( 30 yr old female 190 lbs. 5'5) Should I keep my hopes up to lose weight or is it to soon to say?
526901 tn?1216334227 This is provided Abilify helps you, if not, I would see about switching too. Geodon is in the family with Abilify and it works fast too, like within a couple weeks. Just a suggestion. Good Luck, I know how frustrating it is finding the right medication. I've been on over 47 kinds of meds over the last 10 years. Cymbalta was another one that helped my panic attacks, I went on that after being on Prozac for 8 or 9 years. It works faster than Prozac but slower than celexa & lexapro.
574118 tn?1305135284 After my last mania for which I used to take 300 seroquel to calm down I start reducing it until 75. Although my energy kept fluctuating in between, nowadays my energy is low. Usually when this happens I reduce my antipsychotics to boost my energy. But reducing seroquel too much could this cause depression ?. For I read that below 100 seroquel doesn't help in depression. Is this true ? I can't rely on pdocs, in my country they are worse than shoemakers.
Avatar f tn Hi all. I'm new to this forum. I'm on day four of taking Abilify 5 mg. I've taken it once before but had to stop due to extreme restlessness. I have RLS really bad anyway and it made it 100 times worse and all the time. I'm hoping that I don't have the same reaction this time. I started taking it again because I don't sleep. Absolutely can't. At all! Drives me crazy.
Avatar m tn I am so much more engaged socially, positive attitude, energy, not moody, irritated or withdrwn. Has anyone had similar effects with this drug (or others like it)? On the flip side, I'm feeling scared that this is only temporary. I have been on anti depressents for many years and have those good weeks and then it disappears. Although, this feels much different....Anyway....fingers are crossed.
Avatar m tn I don’t know if I can maintain them the someone would who has never been an addict. Long story short, I seen and researched Abilify , and figured it might give me the energy I need to not want or need narcotic pain medicine for the rest of my life. Will Abilify help me adjust from tapering off pain medicine while at the same time , removing the zyprexa, and deal with my anxiety and bipolar issues?
918275 tn?1254068752 Something to help with our energy level so that we have enough energy to even start to feel human or even care? All I am taking is 15mg Abilify and it isn't helping the low spot I am in and can't get out of.
Avatar n tn But the fog has caused me severe agitation and i was raging all the time. They said in the hospital that my raging was part of bipolar ii disorder. they put me on abilify with neurontin and prozac. The depression lifted and I had more energy than ever, (although mentally i was still in a fog). That lasted about a month and I got of the abilify cause of bad restlessness in my legs.It felt so good to not be depressed and then it came back.
Avatar f tn So, right now I am working with my Psychiatrist to address the agitation part (the lack of energy/concentration is for the most part taken care of). I am currently taking Abilify, which I find really helps me with agitation, but I had to drop to a lower dosage, and I am not finding it's not as effective. I have also noticed when I take the Abilify along with my Adderall it helps increase my energy and productivity.
447130 tn?1225470866 I have always suffered from major depression and a mood disorder even though they don't come out and say it's bipolar, they treat is as such and it's helped. I've been on Abilify for a year now and I was doing so well but now I'm tired all the time, have no motivation, and feel overall blah! I see my pdoc next week and I wonder if I need a new mood stabelizer or a higher dose of Abilify.
