Abilify and ativan

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify and ativan

abilify

If, for example, you have depression, and you're on medication and its helping but not quite enough and you've tried everything else, that's what Abilify is for. It would be an augmentation of what you're on, not something to try first. Is this from a psychiatrist or a pcp? I'd question it, since you won't know for weeks whether Celexa is going to do the trick or not.
My mom has been on anti-depressants for years and when it Lexapro stopped working the doctor prescribed Abilify the moment it hit the market. her doctor said it helps when your current medication basically needs a boost..not a miracle drug by any means. But then again what works for one person may not work for next..no it did not help her...gave her more anxiety. But I am sure this is something you need to discuss further with your doctor.
//www.askdrjones.com/2005/02/14/ranking-the-mood-stabilizers/ . To tell you the truth I became happy because I know tegretol needs blood tests, etc…while abilify has a few side effects except some anxiety. I only became suspicious about its potency as a mood stabilizer. Otherwise why do pdocs recommend always one of the triads (lithium, depakote, tegretol) or lamictal lately. Never did I hear an AP to be working as a MS although in www.bipolar.net they even mention seroquel.
By the way, I am on 100 of Zoloft also (along with nuerontin and abilify) and doing really well on it.
I just started Pristiq and Im also on ativan and abilify............wondering if anyone else has taken these meds together.I felt great after taking the pill last night now today im kinda scared and spacey feeling...any thoughts?
I had a bad breakdown yesterday and dr had to try something i guess Im trying to do this at home without hospitlazation,,,,,,kinda scared of both ativan and zyprexa to gether i have only taking one 5 mg zyprexa and man it knocked me out..will that wear off and today i have the shakes bad...last year i was on abilify cant say it helped me much...just curious about others on these 2 meds..
I have been on Zoloft 150mg for about a week and feel more agitated, nervous, anxiety and still depressed so my psychiatrist just added Abilify (5mg) and Remeron along with a thyroid RX to my Zoloft 150mg. I feel this is way too much as I was hoping to change to a different SSRI instead but he didn't feel that would help. I've been taking Ativan .
My Psychiatrist recently prescribed 1 mg of Ativan to help with my agitation/irritability, which I am taking along with 1 mg of Abilify. I am to take 1 mg of Ativan in the morning and then another 1 mg in the afternoon. He did say that I could cut my pills in half, if they make me too drowsy. However, my main concern is taking Ativan every day. My Psychiatrist did say that if this drug helps with my irritability that it would be a long-term drug for me.
I am glad your son is ok. I don't know anything about abilify but I take zoloft and I am taking klonopin( used to take ativan ) I think I am going to wean off klonopin...only been on for a couple days. How are you feeling?
HI, I can totally relate to the elevated mania with the Abilify. I had a bad reaction to Paxil and had extreme anxiety and panic attacks with irritability so they put me on Seraquel. Was not the drug for me! After 4 days on the Seraquel it had the reverse effect similar to your Abilify experience and it made me very manic and constantly anxious. My Doctor then said try Adivan to get you back on a normal playing field and to deal with the Anxiety. It's been a miracle drug! It worked perfectly.
Thank you everyone for all your comments, well after having another attack for the 3rd night in a row I spoke to my shrink this morning and he has taken me off the ativan and the xanax and put me on klonopin .5 2x a day. He had been trying me on Neurontin as well which hasn't been working, so he is weening me off that and we decided I should go back on Prozac which is what I had been on 17 years ago when the panic/anxiety attacks were at this same level that they are now.
Okay guys so my axiety was letting up a bit and the other day i was very nervous at the hospital and they gave my .5 in my IV..the next morning i woke up and i felt really heavy and like i was buzzing..i didn't take any ativan this day but then the next day i took it per my doctor and then i woke up yesterday with the worst panic attack ever!!the doc told me to take one again..so i did and after two hours my anxiety was the worst i have ever experienced..EVER!..I thought i would died..
Hey, so my birthday is coming up and a big group of us is going to the casino and I know I'll end up drinking. Does anyone know the interactions with alcohol, lamictal, abilify, and ativan? If they're too serious I'll just tell my boyfriend not to let me drink. Any help would be great!
5mg 3x/day PRN...and he even mentioned eventually putting me on Abilify, if the Effexor and Ativan doesn't contain that voice stalking me full of anger, guilt, hate and paranoia. But that after i get stabilized/to the doses of the other two. I'm sort of afraid of Abilify because i hear you get fat on it, but I do like the aspect that I wont feel explosions of insanity and anger...So we will see, I have clonazepam to hold me until my Rx's are cleared...which could take up to 24 hours...
Is there anyone out there who has or is taking both Clozaril and Abilify together?
I have confronted the pshychiatrist 2 and both times he left me with it and first he gave me a drug that is supposed to help with askasthia, cogentin. Still didn't work. Talked to him again and now he gave me ativan instead of just changing zyprexa. Has anyone expreienced askasthia and continued to take the medicne and have it go away?
I have 5 other medications i have to quit taking on top of that- Lorazepam, Wellbutrin,Lexapro, Abilify, and Topamax. That is if I go through with my plan to find out what person lurks under all this stuff. It's been years and years and years.
I take Abilify (its not Ambilify) and it hasn't caused any weight gain and helps with depression. Abilify has caused me to have akathisia (restless movements of legs/feet). I take propranolol for it and found that it also is used for anxiety without being a benzo. It is a beta blocker which is primarily used to lower blood pressure.
Hi. Actually Ativan is more for anxiety and Abilify is more for depression but it can also help with anxiety. This is common practice, trust in your doctor. Best wishes.
years ago i drank real beer with xanax every day and i mean alot of beer and nothing ever happened...
I am on celexa 20-40 mg and abilify 10 mgs-ativan 1 mg x 3-still take the ativan-but not my meds- it was hard getting off them-i gained weight-and wanted to lose the weight-i didn't-i used food as a comfort/and still weigh about the same. I am now detoxing from the opiates-and feel like i should go back on my meds-cos im so depressed- is anyone else on this combo-for bipolar?Do you feel better?
Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
I've been wondering this for the last two years since I have been having these problems. I have the feelings of not being in reality, and questioning existence etc...and yes it can be either depression or anxiety that causes similar symptoms. I really believe myself though that depression is just a by-product of stress sensitivity. I tried many ADs and they all made me feel very disconnected. I thought I was seriously depressed, but had panic attacks also.
Trazadone, HydroOXYzine and Abilify. I was going crazy. So I stopped them cold turkey, but I feel they affected my nervous system tremendously. I feel I have a lot of fear, especially of having more panic attacks, so that always keeps me on my toes. And then I also have a lot of anxiety during my sleep and have woken up many times with horrible panic attacks and feeling that my mind is not "all there".
If Klonopin isn't controlling your panic attacks and anxiety you may need a breakthrough med like Alprazolam or ativan or some other anxiolytic. If your MH symptoms are severe sometimes you can go inpatient for medication stabilization if you get to a point where you feel like you need that level of care. Don't be ashamed if you do. I've done it before and it was very helpful. You may want to talk to psych about possibility of trying a mood stabilizer like Seroquel to help with the swings.

Just told me to exercise, and eat better. Gave me Abilify instead of that Seroquel and told me to come back in two weeks.

Ibhabe taken benzos off and on thru life for various things and feel for now the Ativan is a crutch to get me thru this acute mental withdrawl but the ability should take over in a week or so. I have an appt on ties with the same counselor unskilled on last tuesday to end up where I did. And then with that psych on Friday. I Have found that rubbing bengay all over my legs before beds acts as an all night hit soak, so that wa comforting last night.
My girlfriend is extremely supportive, and understands everything I go through. I have tried Cymbalta, Abilify, Elavil, Clonazepam, Ativan, Valium, Desipramine, and now Zoloft. I felt no affect from Zoloft 50mg so I was upped to 100mg. At 100mg my ROCD (relationship Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) kicked in at full force. I feel like my girlfriend is a stranger, and I can feel love. Terrible timing, since I need her more than ever.
