Common Questions and Answers about Abilify and ativan

abilify

1714202 tn?1352672419 Hey, so my birthday is coming up and a big group of us is going to the casino and I know I'll end up drinking. Does anyone know the interactions with alcohol, lamictal, abilify, and ativan? If they're too serious I'll just tell my boyfriend not to let me drink. Any help would be great!
Avatar f tn Are you saying you were put on Abilify before you were put on Celexa? Because if you've only been on Celexa a few days, Abilify wouldn't be appropriate. It's only a last resort medication because of its side effect profile and because it isn't known to work by itself, only in combination with another med. If, for example, you have depression, and you're on medication and its helping but not quite enough and you've tried everything else, that's what Abilify is for.
Avatar n tn Hi. Actually Ativan is more for anxiety and Abilify is more for depression but it can also help with anxiety. This is common practice, trust in your doctor. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I just started Pristiq and Im also on ativan and abilify............wondering if anyone else has taken these meds together.I felt great after taking the pill last night now today im kinda scared and spacey feeling...any thoughts?
1305767 tn?1361192676 Just told me to exercise, and eat better. Gave me Abilify instead of that Seroquel and told me to come back in two weeks.
Avatar m tn I have been on Zoloft 150mg for about a week and feel more agitated, nervous, anxiety and still depressed so my psychiatrist just added Abilify (5mg) and Remeron along with a thyroid RX to my Zoloft 150mg. I feel this is way too much as I was hoping to change to a different SSRI instead but he didn't feel that would help. I've been taking Ativan .
Avatar f tn I am glad your son is ok. I don't know anything about abilify but I take zoloft and I am taking klonopin( used to take ativan ) I think I am going to wean off klonopin...only been on for a couple days. How are you feeling?
800339 tn?1270433486 HI, I can totally relate to the elevated mania with the Abilify. I had a bad reaction to Paxil and had extreme anxiety and panic attacks with irritability so they put me on Seraquel. Was not the drug for me! After 4 days on the Seraquel it had the reverse effect similar to your Abilify experience and it made me very manic and constantly anxious. My Doctor then said try Adivan to get you back on a normal playing field and to deal with the Anxiety. It's been a miracle drug!
3122467 tn?1342138836 I started taking Zyprexa about 2 weeks ago and since then I have askasthia, which is the worst possible effect I have ever had. I can't sit still, I pace a lot, I am so tired and my eyes want to shut but the rest of my body cannot sit still. I have confronted the pshychiatrist 2 and both times he left me with it and first he gave me a drug that is supposed to help with askasthia, cogentin. Still didn't work.
1714202 tn?1352672419 I'm going out this weekend and will probably end up drinking. I'm on lamictal, abilify, and ativan. Does anyone know the interactions mixing those with alcohol? Any help would be great thanks!
873773 tn?1257560602 My mom has been on anti-depressants for years and when it Lexapro stopped working the doctor prescribed Abilify the moment it hit the market. her doctor said it helps when your current medication basically needs a boost..not a miracle drug by any means. But then again what works for one person may not work for next..no it did not help her...gave her more anxiety. But I am sure this is something you need to discuss further with your doctor.
Avatar f tn years ago i drank real beer with xanax every day and i mean alot of beer and nothing ever happened...
1714202 tn?1352672419 Hey all, new to this page. I've written in the alcoholism part before. Anyway, I've recently been diagnosed with bipolar 2 which I've assumed for years! I'm on abilify, lamictal, celexa, and ativan. I'm constantly fidgety and results, and can't concentrate on anything at all right now! There's more too but those are the most annoying right now. Am I still manic or is this side effects from my medication? Any advice would be helpful.
Avatar f tn Reason I ask is simply because to take a patient from Lexapro 30mgs with Abilify and switch them to Welbutrin and Seroquel is kind of an odd change. Welbutrin can be a good add on antidepressant to SSRI's and SNRI's, but is not so effective as a solo antidepressant in most cases. Seroquel is really nothing more than just an altered seditive and will do little for depression. Welbutrin is just a Dopamine Reuptake Inhibitor.
2010625 tn?1329372056 Different people has different side effects. I take Abilify (its not Ambilify) and it hasn't caused any weight gain and helps with depression. Abilify has caused me to have akathisia (restless movements of legs/feet). I take propranolol for it and found that it also is used for anxiety without being a benzo. It is a beta blocker which is primarily used to lower blood pressure.
1550654 tn?1294747554 Okay guys so my axiety was letting up a bit and the other day i was very nervous at the hospital and they gave my .5 in my IV..the next morning i woke up and i felt really heavy and like i was buzzing..i didn't take any ativan this day but then the next day i took it per my doctor and then i woke up yesterday with the worst panic attack ever!!the doc told me to take one again..so i did and after two hours my anxiety was the worst i have ever experienced..EVER!..I thought i would died..
8641508 tn?1399117307 t controlling your panic attacks and anxiety you may need a breakthrough med like Alprazolam or ativan or some other anxiolytic. If your MH symptoms are severe sometimes you can go inpatient for medication stabilization if you get to a point where you feel like you need that level of care. Don't be ashamed if you do. I've done it before and it was very helpful. You may want to talk to psych about possibility of trying a mood stabilizer like Seroquel to help with the swings.
Avatar f tn I take zoloft 100mg and appx 1 mg of xanax daily and Im never tired or groggy.
574118 tn?1305135284 He substituted tegretol with Abilify as my MS. I heard well of Abilify and I happen to have come across http://www.askdrjones.com/2005/02/14/ranking-the-mood-stabilizers/ . To tell you the truth I became happy because I know tegretol needs blood tests, etc…while abilify has a few side effects except some anxiety. I only became suspicious about its potency as a mood stabilizer. Otherwise why do pdocs recommend always one of the triads (lithium, depakote, tegretol) or lamictal lately.
1030383 tn?1338460785 I'm withdrawing from Zyprexa, Abilify, Ativan and sertraline. It's been three weeks and I've had terrible nausea, stomach pain, fatigue, and generally not feeling good. How long will this last? And, any ideas on how to deal with mania since I can't just "knock myself out" like usual? I need to get enough sleep to stay out of the hospital!
736314 tn?1276884623 The Lamictal and Abilify are at standard clinical doses but effective. I believe the same with Ativan and Buspar though I only took those for a short time. The Lunesta however, is at a higher dose than needed for many people. 1 mg worked fine for me.
750223 tn?1234384662 Xanax is generally used for short term anxiety. Ativan is longer lasting and Klonopin and others have the longest half life and have the least potential for a person to build up a tolerance to. We have some websites listed with information about mood stabilizers. You could discuss all that information with your psychiatrist but follow their instructions as regards changing medications for your safety.
712802 tn?1274645485 What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted. You might take Abilify and find that you have no side effects and it helps you and you will continue to take it. You might find that you get side effects that you can't tolerate and then you will quit it. The only way to find out is by trying it.
Avatar f tn I am on Clonazepam, Wellbutrin, Abilify, Seroquel, and Depakote.
Avatar m tn I am on 90 mg of Cymbalta and just started 15 mg of Abilify for depression. My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
