abilify

Avatar f tn //www.abilify.com/abilify/home/index.jsp . They also have some useful information on the disorder and how abilify works to help control moods. - it seems to have less side effects than some drugs of its type based on what I have read.
Avatar n tn t smoke I have the worst explosive anger which is effecting work, parenting, home and family/friends and relationships, etc- everything! I have started bringing marijuana to work where I am a property manager, just so i can make it through my day without wanting to kick someone's ***, or feel sad or depressed..... My question to you is- Is the marijuana enhancing my anger or ill feelings of sadness, depression, bad judgement, and indecision????
Avatar m tn But pdoc put me on Abilify (combined with all my other stuff) and that helped a lot in taking the anger down a few notches, if you want to consider that. I don't really know how well the Lamotrigene is working for you, but definitely talk to your DR.
Avatar f tn Once I reached the therapeutic dose of Lamictal, I stopped Abilify and immediately experienced rapid fluctuations between depression and mania and my therapist told me to go back on Abilify at a reduced 2.5 mg. In addition, since beginning Lamictal + Abilify I have consistently gained 40 pounds.... 10 of which were gained within the 2 weeks I restarted Abilify at 2.5 mg. As someone who has a history of body dysmorphia and eating disorders, I NEED a different treatment.
Avatar m tn I am so sorry to hear you're having problems. I completely understand because I have had similar problems with meds in the past. I would suggest talking to your doc and asking for a change in meds or see if there is another drug that you can take in addition to combat the mood problems. I take 100mg of Pristiq and 2 mg of Abilify.
Avatar f tn My son is 8 years old and has always had anger problems. He has been in state's custody for almost three years. Two of which he has spent institutionalized. He is currently home but if i can't find a way to help him he will be removed again. I know he will not recieve the help he needs in a facility. It all started when he was 11 months old he would bang his head when he would get mad and the problems just grew from there.
Avatar m tn s like a release and the defiancy comes out and always ends up getting sent to his room almost nightly and then is very apologetic but 10 minutes later back to being defiant and disrespectful. We know he tries very hard to use coping skills, but once he gets to a certain level of his anger, he doesn't know how to rationalize his thoughts whatsoever and takes things to the extreme, but always comes down off of it and is very apologetic.
Avatar f tn I had the same experience with SSRIs in the beginning. I started taking Lamictal and ramped it up to 200mg along with Effexor and Abilify. That's my list for now with no complaints. I still feel myself cycle up and down but the highs and lows are much less. I'm definitely more balanced and much much less depressed. Finding what works for you is the hard part. Just don't get frustrated and give up looking for relief.
Avatar m tn The doctor doubled the dose and the anger and aggression etc. became worse. That was when the doctor diagnosed Bipolar and took him off stimulant and put him on Resperidone / mood stabilizer. He has been on resperidone for 11/2 week showing only ADHD and ODD symptoms. He is driving us crazy but not showing any signs of anger or aggression. We then introduced ADHD medication, guanfacine, evening only. Second day he started exhibiting more aggressive, angry behavior.
Avatar f tn I just found out a friend has been on the medicine venlafaxine for the highest dosage and his psychiatrist put him on abilify too recently. What does this imply? He has schizophrenia? He's a psycho? Any thought would be appreciated!
Avatar f tn re dealing with a competent psychiatrist, I would take his suggestion and try Abilify to control your symptoms and especially to prevent manic episodes. If you're that concerned, a second opinion is definitely an option. Ultimately, however, the decision is yours. Just remember that your well being is the issue here and that in order to have the best quality of life possible it is oftentimes better to put ourselves into the hands of others.
Avatar f tn I am currently on Cymbalta, Valium, and six days ago started Abilify after discontinuation of Depakote 500 mg daily due to weight gain of 50 pounds. I've written on here before about this but now would really appreciate some more feedback from anyone on Abilify. I just started it and have already gained five pounds, according to the scales. I am so frustrated that I'm about ready to just get off everything.
Avatar f tn We know vyvance has improved his focus at school for reading and math however, we have moved from abilify to tenex with success. Therapy is fustrating because his behaviour isn't consistent enough to plot a course. What I mean is, one week he is able to manage himself daily then the next week he may have a meltdown resulting from overreacting to a friend's comment then he is ok a few days later. The last therapist was fustrated so we quit seeing her.
712802 tn?1274645485 What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted. You might take Abilify and find that you have no side effects and it helps you and you will continue to take it. You might find that you get side effects that you can't tolerate and then you will quit it. The only way to find out is by trying it.
Avatar n tn Ritalin should take effect in 15 to 20 minutes and last no longer then 4 hours. When was the anger occurring? If his anger started halfway through the 4 hour period, or came after 4 hours - then something else was going on. His doctor should have started him out on the lowest possible dose (5mgs) and slowly raised the amount based on your feedback. Of course, this assumes you knew what to look for regarding the med working.
Avatar m tn I am on 90 mg of Cymbalta and just started 15 mg of Abilify for depression. My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have only started the Abilify so far on day 3 … I was supposed to start together but I dropped the pristiq bottle and pills fell on floor now because of contamination ocd I can’t take them and insurance won’t pay for a refill yet so doctor says just take the Abilify for now , I’m noticing it is helping me to change my behavior versus the ssri just kinda helped me manage my existing behaviors but never had courage or motivation to change my behaviors so I’m hoping that’s where Abilify will come

1565420 tn?1304572548 Hello, I took abilify for five years, One thing is that when you take ablilify it is added with another medication usually, and i lost all of my hair while taking it but not because of they abilify, it was from the depicote or what ever-eles i took, but after i got off the depecote, my hair grew back my hair is growing now, but if you havent took it very long you may be having other side effects like the shaking, i will say that dose go away and you get very much better..
1100992 tn?1262357216 For me, talk therapy and balance of food intake and sleep regulation seem to be more effective for that one specific symptom of anger. I try to eat regularly and as healthy as possible. Protein balances blood sugar levels, which seems to help with mood. I try to get enough sleep (which for me is about 9-10 hours because of my meds, a lot, I know, but that's just how it is).
Avatar f tn Well, I know they use Abilify to treat bipolar, but my doctor says it can be activating for mania in some people. Mania can be dysphoric and irritable mania (as opposed to euphoric mania, which is happy life of the party type.) Also stimulants for ADD can be activating for bipolar. So, it would be best to talk to his psychiatrist about this to get the best options.
Avatar n tn There is a connection with taking Abilify and acne .
1361386 tn?1277635042 Well, I am not a doctor and I cannot dx you but I strongly suggest you make appt. with a physc-doc and get some help. Being angry and wanting to hurt someone and actually taking action are two different things, however, it is dangerous thoughts because where is one's breaking point. I know you don't want to hurt anyone or you would not be on this site asking for help. Being Bipolar, I also have sudden and intense anger and rage...comes on quickly and and with a vengence...
Avatar f tn OK, now let me answer the ACTUAL question :) Anger, I do have anger problems. It is extremely hard to control, but it is controllable. I've never been an angry person, and I think that daily stresses aggrivate the anger. I'm rapid cycling and in mixed episodes daily, and I have 3 kids under the age of 6.
Avatar f tn Hi I am also on methadone and Abilify and I think it is affecting the effects of the methadone let me know if you found anything out my email is mafiia.mii.
