Zonegran for headaches

Common Questions and Answers about Zonegran for headaches

zonegran

Avatar n tn As you can see alcohol use is not recommended for use with Zonegran in particular. but is usually not recommended for use with most medications. That is because it can increase or decrease the effectiveness of the medication or cause unwanted side effects. Personally, although I haven't found any literature that indicates that seizures will occur if you use it with Zonegran and Lamictal, I would avoid it completely or minimize its' usage.
1303966 tn?1296740010 t have this anxiety attacks since stopping seizure medication. I take butterbur for my headaches and this is suppose to increase the oxygenated blood to the brain. I feel so much better these days.
Avatar n tn When the headaches get out of control she puts me on prednisone. I also see a physical therapist at her office weekly for the headaches. I have had trigger point injections ( did not help). I am really scared that all of this is the sign of some brain disease or upcoming stroke. PLease help. Thank you.

Avatar f tn I am 31 year old healthy female. I work part time and have 2 small children. On Sept. 17 of 2012 around mid-morning when I began to have vision problems that included spots in my eyes and almost like a shadow fell over my left eye. I thought perhaps I was going to get a migraine since I had heard people describe them that way. The vision probs lasted about 45 minutes and when it went away a headache set in. It was what I would call a mild to moderate headache. Ever since I have a headache.
Avatar f tn Zonegran is awesome! It really has worked great for my daugther with little to no side effects. Initially, there was some problems with being a little sleepy during the morning, but that wore off. It also did cause some appetite suppression in the morning, but that wore off too. I hope you find the right dosage and it works well for you too. Were you able to lose the weight you gained off of the Trileptal?
Avatar f tn t think of them at this time) I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. The Zonegran was working for a little while but I have seemed to reach a plateau. I have not been migraine free at all since November, but there have been times where my migraines have been less painful. I work for a health insurance company and I am on the computer for 8 hours a day. I have been unalbe to work a full time scheule for the past 3 months due to my migraines.
1303966 tn?1296740010 Has anyone with Chiari had success with Diamox? I'm currently on Zonegran for L-temperal lobe seizures, but the constant pressure and full feeling in my ears and mouth is driving me crazy. Told possible Meniers by ENT, but my Neuro thinks it's the Chiari. She wants to try Diamox, but wants to clear it with my Chiari specialist because of the Zonegran and risk of kidney problems (dehydration).
1303966 tn?1296740010 Sorry to hear about everything! I know how you feel...have been on a number of different anti-seizure meds for 14 years now, and totally understand how you feel. If it helps, things usually improve somewhat after you've been on the meds for 5 or 6 months....kind of get used to the dosage, although it isn't easy to deal with all the side effects.
Avatar f tn Prophylactic medicines like propranolol, pizotifen and valproate can be tried. It is important to know that any painkiller for headaches or migraines too often or too long can make the headache worse. Life style and dietary advice are important. Hope this helps. Take care.

9584843 tn?1404686658 I wanted to know what type of medicine people take for their headaches and neck pain. I have an another appointment with my neurologist tomorrow and I want to know the various types of medication before I see her.
Avatar f tn seizures still are not controlled and she goes through cyles of increased seizures and memory loss and headaches and seizures seem to be getting more frequent and the keppra is terrible...and now they want to try lamitra or zonegran...every mediceine is so disruptive to her and do not control the seizures..and each change of pattern of her seizures gets more violent and i just don't know anymore ...
1303966 tn?1296740010 I have a history of complex migraine, but I'm on zonegran so they are controlled. I also take the zonegran because of seizures. I personally think my seizures have something to do with my migraines (migralepsy). I just started having them at 40 after having steady headaches and migraine symptoms. Anyways, today it is rainy and typically this weather is bad for my migraines, but I don't have a headache, but I feel a little weird.
Avatar f tn Focus was on migraine management- referral to partner for Botox injections which I declined, and Zofran and Zonegran prescribed- (felt too foggy and headaches worsened so I stopped med), tested for Anderson-Fabry’s disease-negative. Spring 2012- mammogram and breast ultrasound 3cm lymph node tail of right breast, also intermittent axillary and inguinal lymph node enlargement, increased fatigue, night sweats, no fever.
Avatar f tn Sry,I've been away for awhile and I'm just now seeing your post.Yes!You most certainly can have toxic levels of Dilantin in your system! I have a neighbor that was on it too long and she started having seizures more frequently and was hospitalized. They took her Dilantin level and accused her of not taking her meds. But it had started leaking into other places. They found that out while she was still in the hospital. Now for my own experience.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone - I am new to this forum. I have a lot of questions but I will try to be brief. I had my decompression surgery in October of 2010. The surgery went well but I did wind up with a decent sized pseduomeningocele that I still have to this day. For about 2-3 months post surgery I seemed fine but then I began to struggle with headaches again. Not "our" typical chiari headaches but more "pressure" type headaches.
Avatar f tn He is now able to start learning, and he came off of all medication except for 75 mg of zonegran. He was on 1400mg a day. It has made a huge difference. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know anything about valsalva headaches and POTS? Can POTS cause headaches associated with straining, coughing, head movement etc. I have googled a lot but I don't seem to find anything.
Avatar f tn I have been on so many of them, and the side effects are worse than the seizures. For example, the keppra I just got off of messed with my hormones, heart rate and blood pressure. I found out by taking it, that I have a mild case of neurally mediated syncope which the keppra elevated to the point where i had to be hospitalized. It also caused major weakness and fatigue to the point where I couldnt work. And believe it or not, that was the minimum dose.
Avatar n tn My 18 year old daughter has had debilitating daily 24/7 chronic headaches for 5 years now. We've taken her to over 50 doctors and alternative medical practices here in the Seattle area as well as the Mayo Clinic in Minn. Her pain has never changed, never moved - always across her forehead, in her temples and behind her eyes. Reading and concentrating make it worse. Sometimes it's worse from out of the blue. She awakens with a pain level of 7 and sometimes up to a 9.

Avatar n tn t know the safety or efficacy of the ablation for tension headaches, sounds scary to me, especially for nerves round the head. But, I was wondering, with all of the drugs that have been tried, if fioricet, (the combination of butalbital, acetaminophen, and caffeine) has been tried.
