zofran

Avatar f tn I got offered it but remember in school hearing about the medication they used in the passed was linked to infertile women born from mothers who used the drug during pregnancy. There also B6 twice daily.
605914 tn?1243622344 hey the zofran in the pill did not work for me but the zofran in the tab that melts on your tongue was a miricle worker, you just can't drink water right after it for a lil while.
Avatar f tn Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn I took zofran for the first 20 weeks of pregnancy it was that or become dehydrated and starve bevel with that I didn't each much but puked a lot less. Feel better!! Strangely enough my OB recommended drinking little sips of coca cola (not diet) it actually did help!
Avatar f tn There are lawsuits pending against the pharmaceutical company because it was never approved for use during pregnancy
12103503 tn?1423448886 There are "possible side effects" from any drug but it is classified as a safe to use in pregnancy drug in the drug guide. They wouldn't prescribe it as much as they do if there was a serious Worry. I've been taking it this whe time and all sonograms have turned up fine- and in a few weeks I expect to see a healthy perfect baby girl. If you're sick enough it's prescribed then you should take it.
Avatar f tn Yes zofran is great. Took in beginning of pregnancy and now again towards the end..
Avatar f tn I try not to look up to much stuff on google these days if i did id probably lock my self in the house and use gemx after touching every little thing lol
Avatar f tn is zofran safe to take during pregnancy... im 9 weeks and 4 days and the nasuea has been so bad i cant keep anythinf down at all...
Avatar f tn The risks of defects associated with Zofran occur before 12 weeks of pregnancy. I had to take it for a few weeks during that period before my morning sickness went away. They check for defects and everything at your 20 week scan. It seems like she prescribed it because the risk of you running into a health issue due to your weight loss is higher than a birth defect caused by Zofran.
Avatar f tn They can't actually prove it was specifically the zofran that caused the birth defects.
Avatar f tn Rather than use a commercial or somebody posting something in an app to decide whether to take it, use your own judgement.
10874336 tn?1415760929 Zofran is NOT recommended by the FRAME for use in pregnancy. There is evidence of cleft palates and heart deformation in pregnancy. Diclegis is much safer and is the ONLY anti nausea med is the class A safety rating for meds. It has been studied for 50 years with zero correlation to negative side effects in the fetus. Only downside is it makes you really sleepy. Do your research.
Avatar f tn So it was either zofran or starve. Thank goodness for zofran in my case. Also all medication has risk. Even benadryl which is called safe during pregnancy is rumored to cause cleft lip. I've taken it to. A lot of people have. Its pick and choose in this world when It comes to things like this.
Avatar f tn Ive been taking zofran on and off my entire pregnancy. Currently 33 wks With a very healthy baby. There are birth defects that can be cause but they are very few and far btwn.
Avatar f tn My dr. Said a recent study came out not to use Zofran so she prescribed phenigren. My Co worker just had a baby in May and she took Zofran she had a healthy 9 lb girl! There is also a vitamin b6 and unisom (specific ingredient) combo you can take for nausea. I agree with the other ladies. Dehydration and malnutrition are not worth not taking the medicine. I was sick to week 20 and lost 12 lbs even on the medicine! I can only imagine if I didn't take it.
Avatar f tn I am 14 weeks pregnant and my morning sickness has suddenly increased very bad I called thr dr today and the nurse gave me a prescription for zofran so far it's helped me and it says there are no side effects to me and my baby but some thing I was reading online says about causing cleft palates has anyone else taken this and is your baby perfectly fine?
Avatar f tn The FDA has issued an updated warning against Ondansetran, better known by its brand name, Zofran, use in pregnancy discussed in OBGYN News. Zofran is a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist approved by the FDA for preventing nausea and vomiting related to cancer chemotherapy and surgery. It has been used off-label to treat nausea and vomiting in pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I took it my whole first pregnancy my daughter is just fine...
Avatar f tn docs says its just unfortunately one of those things that happen...a lot in the group though truly believe its zofran that caused their babys condition though..i dont know maybe they are looking for something to blame for their babys problems which is understandable but i dont know why doctors would still be prescibing this to pregnant women if they think it can cause birth defects...
12380259 tn?1424964291 I have been in the hospital the past two days with keytones in my urine, meaning I havnt been eating, which I have been eating but I got very sick the other night and couldnt keep anything down. So when I got to the hospital my doctors prescribed me zofran, and I have heard about the recent studies shown and so I asked them and they told me it was okay to take as long as your out of your first trimester.
Avatar f tn I would highly recommend Zofran. It is used for nausea and it works WONDERS! They have other drugs likes Phenergan and Compozine, but the side effects are long and AWFUL (I know because I have taken both). I just looked at the med fact on Zofran and while it doesn't say much about breastfeeding while taking Zofran, there aren't any known problems with taking it during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Is zofran safe to rake during pregnancy? I've read some stories and some say it's not and can cause heart defects is this true?
Avatar f tn It is perfectly fine to take while pregnant I took it threw out my first pregnancy and I'm currently taking it now threw my second pregnancy :)
Avatar f tn This is my second pregnancy , my first was so awful I wasn't keeping anything down not even meds and I lost 20lbs the first trimester from my MS. I'm hoping this one goes smoothly . I'm only 4 weeks along but I'm. Starting to get nasousous and feeling like I'm about to throw up at all times so my dr . Put me on Zofran (which she did the first pregnancy put I couldn't keep it down so I barely took it) did you guys ever take it ? Does it really work .
7753764 tn?1401853590 Oh im sry hun I was able to keep the others down after I got out of hospital adter having iv zofran. It may seem extreme but won't hurt to ask and you sound like a really severe case in fact I've never talked to someone who was worse than it than myself but im pretty sure you are worse than I was and I was really bad :-( ask you doctor about a pic line for iv zofran at home.
Avatar n tn Every single commercial you see regarding a drug hits the rare side effects at the very end. Zofran is used in labor routinely and safely. I had to have it in both of my deliveries due to nausea and vomiting (seems I am a total wimp and that is part of my pain reaction). Listen to any drug add and they, at the very end, list a couple of things that according to the package inserts on these drugs is are very low but legally they have to mention them in order to broadcast an ad.
Avatar f tn As far as I know its been deemed safe for pregnancy. I had to be put on a zofran pump because I was so nauseous and vomited literally all the time. It got so bad I tore my esophagus a few times, and had to be in the hospital for fluids. That pump saved my life. I'm off it now, but still take the oral zofran as I need it. All my ultrasounds have shown that baby is perfect, and I did some hefty research before going on the pump, and couldn't find anything that said it caused defects.
Avatar f tn So I've been seeing all this negative stuff about zofran causing all kinds of birth defects to unborn babies. I'm 30 weeks pregnant & I've been taking zofran my entire pregnancy, so it's worrying me. Has anyone else taken zofran? What are your opinions on it?
