Common Questions and Answers about Zofran solution

zofran

Avatar f tn I am taking zofran and it's perfectly safe and a class b drug. The ads on tv are just lawyers trying to get money for a case they can't prove. The birth defects they state are the most common among all babies born no matter a family history or not. Don't be afraid to take it if you need it. If you are that afraid though, look up the study of 600,000 pregnant women in denmark in 2013 that proved it was safe.
Avatar f tn So every time I take Zofran (I have terrible morning sickness) it makes me constipated... like bad!!!any suggestions??
Avatar f tn I'm a second time mom, I also experienced horrible nause with my first child. But this time seems worse because I have to try and take care of myself and her while my husband is at work! I haven't been able to hold anything down in days, not even water. Has anybody found any type of solution to help with nausea?
Avatar f tn Sea bands work for some people.preggie pops. Zofran (prescription drug for nausea) saltines. Staying well hydrated. B6 vitamins. If you're going to drink ginger ale, make sure it's flat and warm. I'm not sure there is enough ginger in ginger cookies to help. Eating crackers between meals usually help. It seems nausea is worse on an empty stomach so I'd try and avoid that.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am just over 7 weeks with my first. I was put on Zofran this week due to exreme nausea. Ever since I started taking this I have not been able to have a bowel movement :/ I have tried miralax, prune juice, eating fruits, I even tried fleets glycerin liquid suppository today. I have had very little relief from any of this. Any other suggestions?! I'm going crazy and starting to really have pains.
Avatar f tn Saltine crackers does not work!!! Anyone has a solution to beat the morning, noon, and night nauseous activity??? Help!!!!!
1284873 tn?1272164248 Go to your dr and ask to be put on zofran or phenergan. These medications will allow you to eat and drink and take away the throwing up. I know it's not a solution but at least you will be able to get some vital nutrients back into your body.....
548642 tn?1266179652 they may be willing to prescribe you zofran or phenergen, but you have to tell them that the reglen doesn't work for you. some OBs won't prescribe the other two i mentioned, but some will, so you just have to give it a shot. Have you tried any home remedies? (i.e. eating small, light, more frequent meals...ginger ale or ginger root tea, sucking on ice cubes, eating crackers/toast?) they sometimes help more than medicine....but sometimes not.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron (Zofran®) 8mg-16mg (They come in 4, 8 and 16mg tabs. You might need 16-32mg. Granisetron (Kytril®) 1mg tabs Aprepitant (Emend®) is new, and is used to prevent (not treat) nausea. Studies show it to be very effective especially when used in combination with the two drugs above and decadron (dexamethasone).. Palonosetron (Aloxi®) this is fairly new and only available IV, but it is the ONLY long-acting drug on the market—good for up to 5 days after administration.
4910090 tn?1361074617 Call your treating physician and ask for an Rx for Zofran (Ondansetron us the generic name) ASAP. It works miracles for almost everyone and its not sedating. For me, I would be literally throwing up until I dissolved one little tablet on my tongue. Within about 20 minutes the nausea was gone and I often even felt hungry. You don't want to risk throwing up your meds, especially the Victrelis, as missing any doses increases the risk of the virus mutating to a resistant variation.
Avatar m tn There is medication you can get from your doctor. It's call Zofran. There is a generic version that cost a whole lot less. I have taken both and many people on hep c treatment take it. Doctors should give everyone a prescription for throwing up before starting treatment. I knew to ask for Zofran before treatment because I had throw up issues while in cancer chemo. Give your doctor a call and get relief. It works great.
Avatar f tn I feel for you. I've been taking Zantac 2x daily for reflux but doc has just switched me to protonix 1 x day cuz Zantac wasn't cutting it. I've had vomiting throughout this pregnancy due to hormones & reflux so I've been on and off zofran since week 8. Without the zofran I was dehydrated from vomiting so much & that was a viscious circle of IVs. If you're vomiting every meal you should definitely call.
523728 tn?1264621521 Infusions will be every Friday for 3 weeks, then one week off. I get a steroid and some Zofran first, then 30 minutes of the Topo thru my new port. Did not have the port for Carbo/Taxol. My CA 125 was 224 going in and I have 3 areas of malignancy which are being watched. Side effects have been: 1. Significantly more chemo brain than with Carbo/Taxol. My head felt fuzzy for 3 days. 2. Minor nausea - controlled by Zofran and compazine 3. Dull taste buds 4.
1201433 tn?1328997637 I just want to say it is like night and day since they gave me a script for some , started today, I was up all last night vomiting, do not suffer ask your doctor for some!!

8367118 tn?1442605420 Maybe look into promethazine?
14346590 tn?1451854557 So has anyone taken zofran while pregnant? I try to stay away from all medicine except my vitamins but the other night I ate something and I'm guessing my baby really didn't like it because I've been kind of sick since then but the other night the nausea was unbearable so I took one.
Avatar f tn Any reviews on zofran ? Im 20 weeks and ive been taking it once a day almost my whole pregnancy to help me keep down food. But now im hearing bad things about it. I havent had an ultra sound yet so im worried about it?
Avatar f tn I'm now 12w3d and I've been having really bad morning sickness to the point I have to go to the hospital 3times a week just for fluids and I've been taking the prescription zofran since I was 9 weeks. I recently saw that zofran is being sued for causing birth defects.. I've asked my doctor about it and she just says that there is no evidence yet.. I'm trading the pill form and getting thru iv.. I'm a ftm and I just don't know what to do right now.
Avatar f tn How many mommies here had to take zofran? Is it really safe I am taking it now to help me on my sickness but worries still in my mind. Share your thought about this med.
Avatar f tn I have terrible morning sickness and I was given a prescription for ondansetron 4mg which is the generic version of zofran. I'm scared to take it because of the possible side effects and the warnings I've seen on TV. I don't want to take any risks when it comes to my baby. Any thoughts on this?
Avatar f tn Dmpnonna, I weighed 120 before pregnancy. Minus 40 pounds. I got down to 79 pounds. I went into preterm labor bc my body just simply could not support the weight of my baby. At 22 weeks my baby would not have survived. I was told by so many doctors "you have your baby now, he WILL die" zofran saved his life. If it wasn't for zofran I would weigh 107 now and I wouldn't still be carrying our sweet little boy at 30 weeks. Sometimes drugs are necessary.
Avatar f tn I've lost 7 pounds since I've been pregnant due to the morning sickness and appetite loss, so my doctor prescribed me Zofran but I really don't want to take it. I'm sure y'all seen the commercials and I looked it up and it does cause those things. What should I do?
11529448 tn?1419052525 So my doctor prescribed me some nausea medicine called zofran and I was watching a commercial on tv and it was talking about how babies are being born with birth defects after using the nausea medicine zofran. So should I stop taking it and find other ways to deal with the nausea ? or should I continue to use it if my doctor recommended it.
Avatar f tn My friend took it with her pregnancies and delivered healthy babies, but i know there are massive lawsuits against zofran. I would say consult with your Dr and approach with caution.
