My doctor and I agreed that the benefits outweigh the risks. Zofran for pregnant women has been available for almost 20 years if it was as bad as they say we wouldn't have just been hearing about ambulance chasing lawsuits.
I had severe morning sickness with my daughter to the point I couldn't keeps down spoons of water eve for my entire pregnancy I was on it so me and baby didn't die. This time around u was o. It until I was 22 weeks along. My children are perfect.
How many of you ladies are still taking zofran? My morning sickness is terrible. I'm 15 weeks and I throw up at least 5 times a day unless I take zofran and I've tried everything else and nothing works. But I know my doctor like personally and she assured me that it was safe and if it were her she would take it. I've lost about 30 pounds and only gained back 7 so she's worried about my weight. And I've lost it because of nausea. So how many Andre still taking it?
I haven't heard of any risks and my doctor is pretty straight forward!
Am I the only one who doesn't understand why doctor keep prescribing zofran and its on commercial saying it may cause birth defects in your baby. Sorry but I don't wanna stop throwing up that bad.
Has anyone else taken zofran while preg? I read that it was bad for baby one some sites and is a miracle drug on others. I'm just concerned and would never want to take anything that could harm my baby.

Just saw a class action suit on tv against Zofran during pregnancy saying of your baby is or was born with a heart defect or birth defect to call them..I was prescriped yesterday for this medicine and took one today. Has anyone else taken them?

m 7 weeks pregnant and I went to the Dr last week and my Dr prescribed Zofran. The problem is everytime I take this medicine, I see the commercial on TV that talks about Zofran causing some birth defects. Is anyone else taking this medicine or have heard these birth defects. Thanks!
I heard the same thing about Zofran they even have a law suit going on about it I hope all u ladies that are taking that are aware of the risks my doc told me about some things I could take over the counter besides the prescribed meds

Make sure you drink lots of water. Lots and lots if water. If you have zofran, take it. If not, call your doctor and ask for some right away. Try to eat some soup. Rest. make sure you are staying hydrated!
I have been on Zofran for nausea and vomiting. I'm in my first trimester and I hope it is not harming me and the baby. I know the doctor said it's okay. I just rather hear it from a experience mommy too.
Never seen her before but my usual dr who i love and trust tild me maxolin is garbage and to go straight to Zofran. Confusing.
But I had asked the pharmacist how safe is it really to be taking while pregnant bc my Dr had prescribed me Zofran and then I started seeing all the stuff ab it causing birth defects. All the pharmacist said was that the benefits to me from the zoloft outweigh the risks for the baby. What the hell is that even supposed to mean?
Based on recent studies regarding the association between Zofran use in early pregnancy and congenital cardiac malformations and oral clefts (cleft lip and palate), the FDA has cautioned against its use in pregnancy. There are also potential maternal risks associated with taking Zofran especially in pregnant women with electrolyte imbalance due to severe nausea and vomiting.
Hi ladies. Im 8 weeks and have been suffering from nausea and vomiting since week 6 and I've been prescribed Zofran. Now with all these birth defect commercials my boyfriend does NOT want me to take it but im nauseous almost all day. His gma took Zofran and that didnt go well. Wat to do bc im miserable!!!! Help ladies.
I would highly recommend Zofran. It is used for nausea and it works WONDERS! They have other drugs likes Phenergan and Compozine, but the side effects are long and AWFUL (I know because I have taken both). I just looked at the med fact on Zofran and while it doesn't say much about breastfeeding while taking Zofran, there aren't any known problems with taking it during pregnancy.
I took every form of Zofran, Phenergan, and even Thorazine (and eventually had a PICC line and TPN) during my first pregnancy. Sometimes you have to make sure your baby survives first by getting you through. By the way, she's perfectly healthy. I have also been taking it during this pregnancy and I know that I would have ended up on IV fluids without it.
It's better to take the few risks with zofran than to end up severely dehydrated. I've never used it but my sis did through both her pregnancies. Her first, she kept absolutely nothing down (even the medication didn't stay down long enough to have any effect) and she ended up needing an iv twice.
