I was a scared to take it because i thought im harming my baby but my baby is looking to be fine im 17w+3d i now take zofran which helps me better. Crackers, ginger ale and all that was no help. Smelling those pops makes me sick lol but the doctor is not gonna give you something that will harm your baby. So its ok to take the medicine to help ease your sickness.
How can i make it stop? Im gagging constantly and nothings coming up not even liquid! How can i stop dry heaving?

I am taking zofran and it's perfectly safe and a class b drug. The ads on tv are just lawyers trying to get money for a case they can't prove. The birth defects they state are the most common among all babies born no matter a family history or not. Don't be afraid to take it if you need it. If you are that afraid though, look up the study of 600,000 pregnant women in denmark in 2013 that proved it was safe.
Ask your Dr about Zofran. Helps a ton but me and a few other ladies on this site seem to have built up a tolerance for it. If it doesn't work for you, ask about diclegis. That stuff is amazing. As far as helping out now, take lil sips. No straw and no food at same time as liquid. Only one or the other. Peppermint helps a lot. I usually have the peppermint altoids in my purse it settles the tummy a lil bit. And remember that gummy bears are a liquid :) hope that helps at least a lil.
I know what ur going through im 28week2days with twin boys i was horribly sick from 6weeks-15weeks i couldnt even keep ice chips down i couldnt keep anything down i was just throwing up stomach acid i lost 5lbs at the beginnibg and nothing worked until 16weeks the zofran finally began to work hang in there it gets better i have to take two zofran a day nowto prevent getting sick! Stay strong and try to stay hydrated!
I started with 2mg Lorazapam and it worked right away . I had nausea right away as that was one of my first symptoms when I got sick. I took alot of ginger for the nausea at first and then I needed something stronger and that's when I took Zofran. The Zofran worked on my nausea right away also. If you take the two together at bedtime, the Lorazapam will help you sleep and the Zofran will help with the nausea.
s be clear about form of promethazine as it comes in a liquid mainly for cough medicine promethazine w/codeine (promethazine w/codeine syrup is highly abused in our country) plain promethazine syrp, promethazine vc syrp and pill form. Zofran comes in a liquid as well, dissolvable tablets (AKA odt), and regular tablets. I would ask my doc for zofran, my friend took it for her full 9 months, she had morning sickness her entire pregnancy 24/7.
They both work pretty good for me..the zofran does work a little better for me though but it makes me so constipated (tmi) and the promethazine will make you so sleepy! I still need both occasionally :/ 32 weeks today!
Hi Mommies,... Does your doctor gave you alternative medicine for nausea than zofran because we all know they have bad reputation I was wondering if there is other medicine that can help nausea also. Ive been prescribe by 15pcs of zofran and I don't want to take them anymore.
It has been used for dogs but that is a strong drug often given to Chemo patients. I am not qualified to give advice or dosage on that. It sounds like you should be giving your Vet a call if the dog has a vomiting problem and try to determine the cause.
Hi, I am just over 7 weeks with my first. I was put on Zofran this week due to exreme nausea. Ever since I started taking this I have not been able to have a bowel movement :/
I have tried miralax, prune juice, eating fruits, I even tried fleets glycerin liquid suppository today. I have had very little relief from any of this.
Any other suggestions?! I'm going crazy and starting to really have pains.
can a dog aprox 60-70lbs take Zofran for motion or car sickness. for extended 8hr car ride.
I feel for you. I've been taking Zantac 2x daily for reflux but doc has just switched me to protonix 1 x day cuz Zantac wasn't cutting it. I've had vomiting throughout this pregnancy due to hormones & reflux so I've been on and off zofran since week 8. Without the zofran I was dehydrated from vomiting so much & that was a viscious circle of IVs. If you're vomiting every meal you should definitely call.
It didn't do anything for me either. Some people just react differently to stuff than others. Maybe ask for Phenergan? It's another medicine that does the exact same thing as Zofran, and it may work better for you.
At my first doc appt she prescribed me zofran for the nausea. I was super excited until I Googled it and started reading all these bad things and now I'm nervous. After a week I finally caved and took a dose which made me feel normal again, and finally ate and kept it down. Has any other mommies taken the medicine and everything turn out ok? I don't wanna take it but it's the only thing that helps.
Try eating some saltine crackers and drink some water and lay down and take deep breaths. That's what I did when I felt sick and it helped me.
Yeah the Zofran "study" is total ********. It's only if you're getting the 32mg IV dosage on a regular basis that any problems can occur. Those on 4-8mg pills or IV doses are perfectly fine. You can take up to 32mg per day, just not all at the same time. I'm part of a group of 3000 moms, all of who have been on Zofran, and not one of them has had issues from the Zofran. I'm on it myself, along with Diclegis.
