Common Questions and Answers about Zofran for migraine

zofran

Avatar f tn I tried to take the pills but I was way to sick for that! So I have been on the Zofran pump (pumps Zofran into my stomach 24 hours a day) for the last 3 months. It's been "Heaven sent" for me! I lost 28 pounds in my first trimester and was unable to eat or drink anything for 11 weeks! Now because of the pump, I can eat anything and have gained 3 of those pounds back!
8475475 tn?1403476630 Do NOT take the hydrocodine for the migraine! It will help for a little while (sometimes) but then it will come back twice as bad...it has what's called a boomerang effect. I have suffered from migraines for years and learned that lesson the hard way. The zofran normally does cause constipation but I know for some it will cause diarrhea. Honestly the migraine is probably causing the nausea. I hope the er gets you to feeling better soon! Migraines are no fun!

Avatar f tn Hello! I am 34 years old for the past 2 years I have been getting nausea with constant headache for 6 days before my period. It's to the point where I'm on zofran and have maxalt for headache. I can't leave my house because I feel like I'm going to vomit but I don't. I guess that's a good thing, lol zofran works. Once I get my period it goes away! Anyone experience this or have any feedback thank you!!!
Avatar m tn I have been using phenergan/promethazine it's an antihistamine for nausea and itching, it made me sleepy until I got used to it. It works well for me on the nausea and I guess the itching as well as I haven't had to much of a problem with that yet.
10874336 tn?1415760929 Have any of u mommys taken zofran for morning sickness? My doctor prescribed it to me but im nervous to take a medication while pregnant.
Avatar f tn Any migraine sufferers out there pre pregnancy? Have you experienced any throughout pregnancy? How did you cope what did your doctor prescribe?
Avatar n tn Hi! I was wondering if you would please add ZOFRAN and DEPACON to the Migraine Tracker "treatments" please?!?!?!?! ZOFRAN could also be added to ANY of the pain related trackers, period as it is an antinausea medication. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Transfer Migraines after 3 years of 5 different Neurologists. Finally, the last one had a brain and was able to tell me that it was transfer migraines. He has me on 80 mg of Propranolol. Within 2 weeks I went from having the same headache for 3 years to not having a headache but maybe 3-4 days a month max and that is only with one of my four triggers, not eating, not sleeping, bright light, or storms.
Avatar f tn Just as anyone should when considering using ANY drug, OTC or otherwise. For example, Immodium is popular for detox for the inevitable bathroom issues. However, it should be used very cautiously with people who have a history of liver disease, those who have diarrhea caused by antibiotics, and those who are taking certain anti-virals. Another example is the use of herbal supplements. They are contraindicated with countless prescripition medicines.
Avatar f tn Hello all, I am 10 weeks pregnant and extremely sick. I have headaches, even as extreme as turning into migraines. I have all day nausea and vomiting that won't let up. I have an aversion to all food and seemingly can only keep down crackers and bread. I'm worried I'm starving my baby, as I have absolutely no animal protein, no chicken or eggs or even yogurt.
1676272 tn?1307298254 Currently he is on Depakote, and Toprol 2x daily..He has Zofran tabs and Imitrex pens for when he is having the migraine...Sometimes the home medications work, but we usually end up in the er where they give him a big dose of Thorazine and some Benadryl to knock him out. I pick him up 6-8 hours later, I care for him at home till it passes, and we wait for the next one...We have eliminated several foods--coffee, chocolate, late night snacking..that were causing it...
Avatar f tn I can confirm with PP that Zofran causes major constipation. I have been put on more medication for that lovely side effect. However the Zofran helped me keep down water and before that I was hospitalised a few times for starvation/dehydration so for me the side effect was worth it. I lost over a stone in 3 weeks before getting the zofran and while I've lost more since that's because I've no real love of food and the nausea sometimes makes a recurrence.
220917 tn?1309784481 I have been having migraine headaches each day for over a week. Grrr! They had been mild to moderate -- just enough to keep me cranky, but not enough to call in sick to work. Thank goodness I work part-time, or I wouldn't have made it through the last week.
Avatar f tn Has your Neuro offered any migraine medications such as Topamax, or triptans such as Maxalt for the migraine pain, or nausea medications such as Zofran? I believe, like you, that the pain is the after effects from the surgery but it also is migraine like as your Doctor stated. It is common to have migraines after such surgery and it is important for you to find what triggers the pain.
Avatar f tn Hi. I was just wondering if anyone else is suffering from migraines that eventually lead to vomiting!? Sometimes I can get rid of them before it gets to bad but other times it's so intense there's nothing I can do and begin violently vomiting. More so in the late afternoon going towards the night. I've been using zofran to help nausea and apparently it has headaches as a side effect but not chronic migraines. Any tips? I'm truely struggling.
1419259 tn?1303438666 Anyone else try any medication for morning sickness? What worked for you, and how long did it take for it to start working for you? Thank you so much!
Avatar f tn t really had significant relief. I heard about zofran but it has some slight risks for the baby and if you miss a dose you get really sick. Can someone clarify this for me?
Avatar f tn It depends on how bad your nausea is. Google I tried the diclegis but it didn't work for me bc I had severe nausea but Zofran works very well.
8296559 tn?1397871519 Mint tea also helps a ton or even just sucking on a peppermint. That helped me a lot. I was also prescribed zofran from my doctor. It tastes awful but it helps.
Avatar f tn During my carbo/taxotere treatments I got Zofran and decadron IV, more decadron and Emend in pill form for three days, and Zofran in pill form for as long as I needed it. I still suffered lots and lots of nausea. Now during my carbo/gemzar treatments I get Aloxi and decadron IV, take Zofran (8 mg) and Promethazine (Phenergan) for four days after each tx. This combo seems to work for me.
