Zofran for chemo

Common Questions and Answers about Zofran for chemo

zofran

Avatar f tn During my carbo/taxotere treatments I got Zofran and decadron IV, more decadron and Emend in pill form for three days, and Zofran in pill form for as long as I needed it. I still suffered lots and lots of nausea. Now during my carbo/gemzar treatments I get Aloxi and decadron IV, take Zofran (8 mg) and Promethazine (Phenergan) for four days after each tx. This combo seems to work for me.
Avatar n tn It has been used for dogs but that is a strong drug often given to Chemo patients. I am not qualified to give advice or dosage on that. It sounds like you should be giving your Vet a call if the dog has a vomiting problem and try to determine the cause.
Avatar f tn Emend is wonderful and works well. I would caution you that your Mom does NOT take day 1 until she is in the chemo room and is 100% sure to get chemo that day. (Sometimes, a pt's blood count is too low for chemo and has to be held a few days and then the first pill is wasted. Ins. will not renew Rx for 28 days .. so have Mom take Day 1 when she is in the chair and sure to get chemo. The pil works just as well taking is then as it would a few hrs. earlier at home.
Avatar n tn Everyone is different and what works for some does not work for others. I used zofran and phenergan suppositories for nausea. For constipation I used stool softners and used miralax powder. When I used these like clockwork, I would usually do alright. I kept a medication journal and wrote it all down( or when I wasn't doing so well someone would) so I would not forget something or the time to take it.
Avatar m tn ve used Zofran during my past 2 chemo rounds. I take it once in the morning and once at night for three days afterward and it works ok. I think I vomited twice each time. I hope your mom is feeling better!
Avatar f tn I used Zofran and compazine in the past (not on tx) Zofran If it's okay for him to take had no sides and worked the best for me, i've heard others say the same thing.
Avatar f tn You do relize in 2012 the same pharmaceutical company for the same drug was fined 3 billion for giving it under the counter For other things that were NOT fda approved! But that was ok because that pharmaceutical company made 12 billion on that drug that year so just a small price to pay for big business! You do relize they used me and everyone one else as ginnie pigs why they sat back and collected!
Avatar f tn t want to take it anymore since zofran is not really for pregnant women anyway, but instead a nausea medication for chemo patients.
315 tn?1230998574 Do you have any zofran, ativan, compazine, reglan, anything for nausea? Is a blockage a possibility?I highly recommend Emend next chemo? You take it 1 hour before chemo, then the next two mornings.Keep the other anti -nausea drugs on a schedule for at least four days after chemo. The first chemo my mom had she got so sick.I called a pharmacist and the emend was a godsent. She never got sick again from chemo after that.Trial and error, you just have to find what works for you.
905378 tn?1244854365 If it causes trouble there are many others to try. The first time I was on chemo the zofran seemed worthless. This last time I was on chemo the zofran helped alot, especially the meltaway tabs of it.
10426661 tn?1410354439 Zofran worked for my first pregnancy but it did not for this one. This one is twins though so maybe that's why. It does constipate you almost immediately though!
1047522 tn?1258145704 We currently do not allow users to add items to their trackers directly. We may in the future, but for now, tell us what you would like added to the chemo tracker and we'd be happy to add them for you. Which anti-nausea medications are you taking? It sounds like you want to track IV fluids as well? Just let us know what you want added, and we'll do our best.
Avatar f tn She is tonite extrememly ill with nausea and headache . Zofran nor Emend bring relief. I take Zofran prn during chemo, along with the E the first 3 days and have not had much of a problem. Is there something else out there aside fro Compazine, Zofran, Emend that she may speak to Doc about? Thanks in advance.
415684 tn?1257329318 In the evening I take a Zofran to prevent nausea and that also works well, if I need it I have the Zofran, when I was on carbo/taxol I needed Zofran for 3 solid days and nights, but it worked. As far as fatigue, you just have to go with it, there's really nothing you can do, it's part of the chemo. Just watch tv, nap or read. What ever makes you comfortable, and make sure you keep something in your stomach, like Sharon said. I love Progresso or home made soups..
Avatar f tn Hello... I've found just snacking 'off and on' throughout the day does it for me. I don't bother with the 3 meals a day for a couple of days after chemo, but rather smaller meals more often. I've got a heap of anti-nausea pills here if you want them. :-) Of course we are all different, so what works for me, may not work for others. Wishing your friend all the best, and hope she is soon feeling much better...hugs..Helen...
Avatar f tn My dr. just prescribed me Zofran for my nausea. Is anyone here taking Zofran while also taking Effexor for anxiety? Since they both deal with seratonin, my dr. wants me to have EKG's to monitor any interaction. Help!
429647 tn?1249753429 What is your Dr recommending? I have not had IP chemo, but a few of the ladies here have and I hope they come along soon to tell you their experiences. If you are tolerating the IV chemo, isn't that enough for now? You can't let yourself get worn down by being sick. We all know how draining the side effects can be and you need to keep up your strength to fight this monster.
564735 tn?1263943526 Evening, my sister had her first chemo with Cisplatin. She has been very nauseous for the last 3 days. She has tried drinking ice water, ice chips, propel, ginger ale . She is taking the following ani-nausea medicines zofran every 8 hours and taking promethazine every 4 hours. Does anyone have any suggestions to help with the nausea? Also if you are on or have had cisplatin , please let us know what your dosage is and how bad the nausea is?
Avatar f tn Ask your ob about zofran. It's an antinausea drug used in chemo patients. It has made a huge difference for me. I'm 15weeks and finally gained 3 pounds. If not try sea bands. They work on the premisis of acupuncture points :) good luck!!
1225178 tn?1318980604 Diane, just wanted to say that's super! Zorfran's expensive :( but it's wonderful that you found it and feel so much better. :) So you tackled another side effect very effectively and now if you get walloped by something else that may interfere in your continuing to work, just keep looking for a solution. My gosh, this place is filled with suggestions for everything under the sun.
1201433 tn?1328997637 It is too bad that Zofran quit working for you, Hector. I know it does not always work for all people. It is possible that the intravenous Zofran works well for you but the oral does not. I really hope you can find something that works for you because being nauseated is so miserable, and spinning is even worse. I have also found that I dare not go too long without food, even when I feel nauseated, and even when taking Zofran, because it makes me more nauseated to be without food for very long.
Avatar f tn Diclegis is longer acting (coated I believe has a cute little picture of a pregnant person on the pill) be careful about dosing and ask your doctor. I like zofran myself, same stuff chemo patients use, but its all in what works for you.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 24 yr old female and completed 6 cycles of ABVD, in addition to IV of Decadron/Zofran 5 or 6 times a month for nausea. Thankfully, the Hodgkins seems to be all gone according to the CT scans. I did my last treatment on 11/30/07 and last received Decadron/Zofran on 12/3/07. I am very thankful that the cancer is gone, but I do have a concern. Two weeks after treatment was over, I gained ten pounds rapidly (in the course of about two weeks).
Avatar f tn m going with my daughter to look for a wig this Friday. I was with my mom when she lost her hair to chemo. I know I will be emotional about this at first, but I also know that it will grow back at some point. I was more worried about how sick I would be. He said they have several drugs that can be used to help with this. Can anyone tell me how effective compazine (spelling?) is with these two drugs?
Avatar m tn s doctor about something like that. I know it was a life saver for my blood pressure/strength during my chemo. By the time I would go in on Monday, my blood pressure would be 89/55 and I would feel so weak.
