I am taking zofran and it's perfectly safe and a class b drug. The ads on tv are just lawyers trying to get money for a case they can't prove. The birth defects they state are the most common among all babies born no matter a family history or not. Don't be afraid to take it if you need it. If you are that afraid though, look up the study of 600,000 pregnant women in denmark in 2013 that proved it was safe.
Yeah the Zofran "study" is total ********. It's only if you're getting the 32mg IV dosage on a regular basis that any problems can occur. Those on 4-8mg pills or IV doses are perfectly fine. You can take up to 32mg per day, just not all at the same time. I'm part of a group of 3000 moms, all of who have been on Zofran, and not one of them has had issues from the Zofran. I'm on it myself, along with Diclegis.
Try eating some saltine crackers and drink some water and lay down and take deep breaths. That's what I did when I felt sick and it helped me.
I'm now 12w3d and I've been having really bad morning sickness to the point I have to go to the hospital 3times a week just for fluids and I've been taking the prescription zofran since I was 9 weeks. I recently saw that zofran is being sued for causing birth defects.. I've asked my doctor about it and she just says that there is no evidence yet.. I'm trading the pill form and getting thru iv.. I'm a ftm and I just don't know what to do right now.
Were any of you mommies given zofran while prego and had a healthy baby?
Before I heard anything about zofran they gave me 1 dose through an IV at the hospital.. And now I'm really scared. I told my doc and she didnt say anything. Send positive comments my way please!
I took zofran my entire first pregnancy because I was horribly sick an the first 3 months I couldn't even get out of bed let alone eat!
Okay so yesterday i felt bad and was cramping. Started vomiting and (tmi) having water like diarrhea. Now i have a headache that won't go away my nose is runny, I'm freezing (when I'm usually burning up, bit don't have a thermometer to take my temp) and my body aches all over... I haven't peed since like 4 pm yesterday evening so I'm probably dehydrated. Phenergan and zofran are not helping, even called my doc and he upped my dosage, still puking.
Anyways I was admitted and in thehospital for 2 days bc I was so sick and ddehydrated. I had to be on iv zofran then had to take zofran pills most of pregnancy in order to eat and drink. It won't hurt to get done fluids replaced if they need to do so rehyrate you not good for baby ifyou are ddehydrated.
I have a Chihuahua and she weighs about 3-4 pounds. What dosage of Zofran should I give my sweetie Pie?? She became sick a few days ago, and we are on vacation away from our regular veterinarian. I am extremely worried about her. She is 10 months old and my husband bought her for me October 31, 2013 because I had a Chihuahua that would've turned 13 years old October 7, 2013 but she was killed by my neighbors dog.
I saw a commercial today saying that if you were pregnant and took zofran that you and your child could get a financial compensation. The Zofran caused the baby to get cleft pallet. Has anyone heard of any issues with zofran?? I was on that for the longest time for my sickness!
Ended up in the er puking blood bc all the acid and bile I was puking up wore away my esophagus lining so blood was seeping through. I ended up being admitted had a two day hospital stay with iv zofran and had to take it test of pregnancy I never got better. On average I took 2_3 pills a day so I could eat. Thankfully baby was perfectly healthy. But it is very depressing bc you are right you really can't enjoy your pregnancy bc you are c so sick.
There is medication you can get from your doctor. It's call Zofran. There is a generic version that cost a whole lot less. I have taken both and many people on hep c treatment take it. Doctors should give everyone a prescription for throwing up before starting treatment. I knew to ask for Zofran before treatment because I had throw up issues while in cancer chemo. Give your doctor a call and get relief. It works great.
Actually there isn't anything wrong with taking zofran... I'm actually on a zofran pump that administer the med to me continuously all day to help with my morning sickness... I'm 20 wks and my baby is doing just fine..
I have HG and had many trips to the hospital due to not keeping anything down. I would be put on iv fluids and zofran I was put on a zofran pump at 15 weeks till about 24 weeks! I still have sickness at 34 weeks I take one zofran odt a day and my little man is health as can be! I lost 30 pounds within 10 weeks but now past my starting weight! Its hard being so sick but so worth it! Good luck hope you start feeling better soon!
You should call OB office about this and let them know the frequency of your vomiting--esp if you can't even keep water down. You may need IV fluids to replenish. Dehydration is dangerous. You'll feel a lot better 24-48 hours after IV. They can prob give you zofran in IV. It's not going to do you any good if you're vomiting up the zofran. It may help you via IV though.

They give everyone in my oncs office IV Zofran, but after being in the hospital after every Gemzar treatment I put my foot down and INSISTED on the Aloxi. I have used it through the Topotecan and now Doxil & Carbo and it has made a huge difference. Zofran pills are a preventative as are phenergan pills, in that they work better if you take them before you become nauseous or sick, but the Phenergan Supp work very quickly for that nausea that just won't go away.
I started with 2mg Lorazapam and it worked right away . I had nausea right away as that was one of my first symptoms when I got sick. I took alot of ginger for the nausea at first and then I needed something stronger and that's when I took Zofran. The Zofran worked on my nausea right away also. If you take the two together at bedtime, the Lorazapam will help you sleep and the Zofran will help with the nausea.
Yes they gave me the zofran melt aways.
