Common Questions and Answers about Zofran and eps

zofran

Avatar f tn He has prescribed Verapamil 180 MG to be taken 1 in the PM. I was also perscribed 81mg asprin a day and zofran for nausea. This is for my Atypical migraines. I am scheduled to see him next week and he wants to know if I have had any improvement with the headaches. I looked up the Verapamil and it is not approved for the use he prescribed it for. Have you heard this medication used for this purpose?
306245 tn?1244384967 s sometimes when he runs, once he passed out and the 3 other times he was very exhausted and complains that his heart is very tired and slow. Avatar f tn Hi. First know, you are not alone! Everyone here feels the same fears, most of us, all the time. Second your EP well do an evaluation and probably some out all of the tests your asking about, maybe a30 day monitor, maybe even a tilt take test. He or she will know best what to do, and after hopefully you'll have some piece of mind. Hang in there and let us know how it goes!
1140169 tn?1370185076 My results for visual, auditory, and somatosensory evoked potentials all came in as normal. I have at least 9 head lesions, O bands in my CSF, and a bunch of MS symptoms. I haven't seen my Neuro since LP and EP tests, and won't see him till May. I believe I've been tested for all other possible diseases that might fit, all negative. What are the chances of MS dx with normal evoked potentials? Anyone else been dx'd with normal EP's?
Avatar f tn Well im scheduled for a EPS and hopefully an ablation if they can induce it on June 26th.. Maybe the fourth time will be a charm.. Even though I have had three previous ones with no success im still a bit nervous and anxious at the same time.. So hopefully this will take care of the ventricular bigemny and nsvt... pray pray...
Avatar n tn I saw him for about 2 years before I got up the nerve to have the ablation. He and the other EPs in his office (espcially Dr. Leon) are extremely qualified. There are also some excellent EPs at Piedmont Hospital but I trusted Dr. DeLurgio, his staff, and he had tons of experience. I see no reason to leave the Atlanta area for an ablation when we have some of the best EPs right here in our back yard. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn If that does not work, then you probably need a prescription for Zofran which blocks the nausea and vomiting (which is caused by the drugs). Many of us used Zofran. It works very well for most of us. I took 8 mg every 8 hours for a few months. Don't let this go. It will snowball. If the phenergan does not work, then ask for Zofran. Zofran does not make you sleepy. Phenergan does. Phenergan is cheaper, but Zofran works better (in my opinion). It is used to treat the nausea from Chemo.
Avatar f tn All it did was put me to sleep, then when I woke up I just felt drunk and groggy and was still sick as a dog. I loved zofran though, I wouldn't have been able to eat at all or even drink if I hadn't of had it.
Avatar f tn I could feel everything, from the leads going into my heart to each poke and prod. Lasted almost 3 hours when body cramping set in from the procedure and dr had to stop. Is this normal for this procedure? Please advise!!! I really need this fixed but mapping was incomplete because my body couldn’t last beyond the 2.5-3 hour procedure with very very minimal sedation.
Avatar n tn Those should be fine, although WPW rarely causes cardiac arrest, if you going into afib or some other SVT those AEDs will not work. To my knowledge it is drugs which are dangerous in WPW like adenosine and you may want to wear a braclet saying you have WPW just in case.
Avatar f tn I'll chime in again, It is common to get a stress test and an Echo when any PVCs are found. EPS usually isn't done unless these tests indicate a need for it. It's a bit odd for a primary to head straight for an EP. usually they will send you to a cardiologist next. A cardiologist is best to make the EP call. And, I highly recommend having a cardiologist *and* EP on your team if that's the level it would go to.
Avatar f tn This is just a informational post for any mommies who may be taking Zofran and also for mommies who took Zofran and gave birth to a baby with any defects.
Avatar f tn I guess it gets into the danger zone at 20,000 but some eps do offer ablations to try and correct the issue at the lower number. But most generally will recommend trying beta blockers to see if that helps. It does for some and for others it doesn't. Most of use have to learn to try and cope as best we can. I am sure not the answer you were looking for but just know you have found a site where you are not alone.
Avatar f tn Me top and nothing works not crackers juice mints the zofran I'm sick as heck but soon it shall pass
Avatar n tn Even when I had tens of thousans/day, the doctor was not concerned, nor did we discuss an EPS. Not quite a year after the Holter with 22,000 PVCs did the CM show up, and only then because I was having an echo for the valve. When I was diagnosed with the CM, there was VERY little literature or documentation which suported the idea that frequent PVCs could result in CM. In fact, most of the doctors (and I) thought it was the mitral valve regurg. causing the CM. But, not the case...
Avatar n tn The major risks are extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS), dystonic reactions (which fall under EPS) and the development of tardive dyskinesia. While it would be uncommon, there are some published reports that tardive dyskinesia can develop after a single use. The other major concern is neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS). You can Google each of those to read about them. It's difficult to speculate here, as you don't know what the dosage was, or what else it may have been combined with.
Avatar n tn UPenn has world class electrophysiologists and they do many complex procedures there including the most difficult classes of VT ablations. Marchlinski and Callans have been there many years and they have added a few more top tier EPs to handle increasing case load. They are as good as you are going to get in terms of experience, skill and equipment for highly complex ablation procedures. Your doctor has done well for you.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Zofran and Reglan since week 7 and am now 23 weeks... The risk associated with dehydration and malnutrition due to HG is far greater than the potential side effects of Zofran and Reglan. My little guy is perfectly healthy up to this point. To each their own though.
2147300 tn?1369689688 yes some bad days but with this forum and the drrugs recommended by it help. Doc had no prob with zofran and highly encouraged this support forum. Cean, I took 4 mg last night before inc and it helped. I did have a constipation problem this morning that did no good for my golf swing and am curious if the zofran has anything to do with this. Will see doc about AD and mention conflicts with PI. I am not a pill guy on a regular basis but have drawer full of them.
10874336 tn?1415760929 Also the person who commented on the increase of cleft palates after being treated with zofran, studies have showed an increase in cleft palates in women who have taken zofran AND women who took none but had HG. This shows more that the chances of cleft palate is due to a diet deficiency rather than the drug.
Avatar f tn How many of you ladies are still taking zofran? My morning sickness is terrible. I'm 15 weeks and I throw up at least 5 times a day unless I take zofran and I've tried everything else and nothing works. But I know my doctor like personally and she assured me that it was safe and if it were her she would take it. I've lost about 30 pounds and only gained back 7 so she's worried about my weight. And I've lost it because of nausea. So how many Andre still taking it?
Avatar f tn Yea i took it with my daughter and shes amazing and healthy it really did help alot too.
Avatar f tn zofran is safe :). there are 2 nausea medicines that are considered safe for pregnancy, and zofran sounds like the better choice for you (since phenergan makes you sleepy, and that's the other option, i think it would freak you out!). every medicine is going to carry warnings, and there will be people who SWEAR that this medicine caused this or that...but that's the internet for you. it is considered safe, and your OB only prescribed it because they felt it was safe....
12380259 tn?1424964291 m 12 weeks with my second and have taken zofran with both pregnancies. Other meds and natural remedies did not work and i have had iv hydration twice with this pregnancy.
7753764 tn?1401853590 ve been taking Zofran the dissolvable tablet every morning and every evening and had only occasionally been throwing up well this morning I woke up with a horrible headache which is sadly one of the side effects of Zofran but it beats throwing up 6 times a day well now even the pill isn't helping. I have thrown up everything I've eaten today and all I've eaten is a bowl of cereal. Anyone else experience this?
Avatar f tn I am 14 weeks pregnant and my morning sickness has suddenly increased very bad I called thr dr today and the nurse gave me a prescription for zofran so far it's helped me and it says there are no side effects to me and my baby but some thing I was reading online says about causing cleft palates has anyone else taken this and is your baby perfectly fine?
