Common Questions and Answers about Zofran alternatives

zofran

7294220 tn?1390280420 I was prescribed Diclegis too but it doesn't work as well as Zofran. They gave me that in the hospital. My doctor said if it wasn't as good, she's prescribe the Zofran, but to try the Diclegis first. Zofran is a small pill that dissolves and starts working right away. It lasts 8 hrs for me usually when the Zofran only partially helps and lasts maybe 3 hrs...
Avatar f tn Having sever all day sickness and only thing working is zofran and just bought some things called preggie pops they seem to help , but looking for other alternatives ( can't stand the ginger taste/smell)) HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Thanks! To clarify, I'm not really worried about weight gain, I'm worried about too much loss and ending up in the hospital :P I've heard of others going on Zofran. I'll talk to my dr to see what alternatives there are to metoclopramide since I've been on it for a few weeks already.
520777 tn?1214022201 I was told to take 4-8mg Zofran, but the Zofran did NOT work for me and I switched to Phenergen, which I took round the clock up until 15 weeks. All the home remedies just frustrated me for not working, and at 12 weeks I ended up in the hospital for 3 days because I could just not keep even water down. I was so bitter about, thinking everyone was saying these natural remedies worked when they really didn't! It was not a conspiracy though, I was just past the point where this stuff worked.
Avatar f tn That early your baby is still able to take what it needs from you. Try eating small meals or snacks every couple hours instead of big meals. Sip water or drink gatorade/powerade to stay hydrated. Make sure to take your vitamin. You should be fine right now.
Avatar f tn The most important thing is to try to avoid becoming dehydrated, and to go back to hospital if you can't. Take your pre-nantal vitamins and try to get back to some solid foods when you can... even if it's a piece of dry toast. It could be the start of nausea (a.k.a., morning sickness), in which case, you just need to try your best to keep down what you can. There are presciption anti-nausea medicines that can be prescribed if you really can't keep anything down.
11970398 tn?1443134602 I know what zofran can do but ive been so sick my dr put me on it because i wasnt even keeping water down. I only take it when i need too. But for all the moms that have ever taken it has it ever not worked? I had to take it yesterday and today and both morning about 30 minutes after taking it i threw up anyway, im worried because i dont know if my morning sickness is getting worse or if i caught a small bug.
Avatar f tn Anything with ginger in it really helps, also I did the BRAT diet and that really helped me with my first pregnancy, banana's, rice, applesauce and toast. Drink lots of fluids to keep yourself hydrated, and drink small drinks ever 15-20 minutes or so, so it stays down. Also, when are you taking your prenatal? Try taking it at night before bed, if I took my prenatal during the day it made me SO sick! I hope you feel better!
1201433 tn?1328997637 I just want to say it is like night and day since they gave me a script for some , started today, I was up all last night vomiting, do not suffer ask your doctor for some!!

14346590 tn?1451854557 So has anyone taken zofran while pregnant? I try to stay away from all medicine except my vitamins but the other night I ate something and I'm guessing my baby really didn't like it because I've been kind of sick since then but the other night the nausea was unbearable so I took one.
Avatar f tn Any reviews on zofran ? Im 20 weeks and ive been taking it once a day almost my whole pregnancy to help me keep down food. But now im hearing bad things about it. I havent had an ultra sound yet so im worried about it?
Avatar f tn I'm now 12w3d and I've been having really bad morning sickness to the point I have to go to the hospital 3times a week just for fluids and I've been taking the prescription zofran since I was 9 weeks. I recently saw that zofran is being sued for causing birth defects.. I've asked my doctor about it and she just says that there is no evidence yet.. I'm trading the pill form and getting thru iv.. I'm a ftm and I just don't know what to do right now.
Avatar f tn How many mommies here had to take zofran? Is it really safe I am taking it now to help me on my sickness but worries still in my mind. Share your thought about this med.
Avatar f tn I have terrible morning sickness and I was given a prescription for ondansetron 4mg which is the generic version of zofran. I'm scared to take it because of the possible side effects and the warnings I've seen on TV. I don't want to take any risks when it comes to my baby. Any thoughts on this?
Avatar f tn Dmpnonna, I weighed 120 before pregnancy. Minus 40 pounds. I got down to 79 pounds. I went into preterm labor bc my body just simply could not support the weight of my baby. At 22 weeks my baby would not have survived. I was told by so many doctors "you have your baby now, he WILL die" zofran saved his life. If it wasn't for zofran I would weigh 107 now and I wouldn't still be carrying our sweet little boy at 30 weeks. Sometimes drugs are necessary.
Avatar f tn I've lost 7 pounds since I've been pregnant due to the morning sickness and appetite loss, so my doctor prescribed me Zofran but I really don't want to take it. I'm sure y'all seen the commercials and I looked it up and it does cause those things. What should I do?
11529448 tn?1419052525 So my doctor prescribed me some nausea medicine called zofran and I was watching a commercial on tv and it was talking about how babies are being born with birth defects after using the nausea medicine zofran. So should I stop taking it and find other ways to deal with the nausea ? or should I continue to use it if my doctor recommended it.
Avatar f tn My friend took it with her pregnancies and delivered healthy babies, but i know there are massive lawsuits against zofran. I would say consult with your Dr and approach with caution.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 6 weeks pregnant almost 7 now and I have had the worse nausea of my life. Not much of throwing up just nausea. I was prescribed Zofran to help with that but I have found that a lot of women who have taken it have had their child born with deformities. Has anyone taken this medicine before???
Avatar f tn I was taking Zofran my first pregnancy from 4 wks right when I had found out to 6-7 months and my daughter was perfectly healthy. So far this pregnancy I have been on it since 7 wks and still taking it at 22 wks and my baby boy is growing big and healthy. It is bs that they called you, I would of went off.
Avatar f tn Its so bad they prescribed me zofran. Ive been taking it ever since I entered my 2nd trimester.Ive been told there is lawsuits with this medicine as it causes birth defects. Any advice?
12380259 tn?1424964291 I have been in the hospital the past two days with keytones in my urine, meaning I havnt been eating, which I have been eating but I got very sick the other night and couldnt keep anything down. So when I got to the hospital my doctors prescribed me zofran, and I have heard about the recent studies shown and so I asked them and they told me it was okay to take as long as your out of your first trimester.
Avatar f tn m 7 weeks pregnant and I went to the Dr last week and my Dr prescribed Zofran. The problem is everytime I take this medicine, I see the commercial on TV that talks about Zofran causing some birth defects. Is anyone else taking this medicine or have heard these birth defects. Thanks!
