10683890 tn?1412893806 Hi guys, I just wanted to share that yoga has been helping me tremendously to manage cravings and anxiety while I taper. It's a great distraction and helps to shift me into a calmer and healthier mindset. I can't always get to classes so a lot of times I just do yoga at home with dvd's. There are a couple of great ones for beginners I wanted to recommend.
Avatar n tn I do basic yoga asana (asana means that it is less cardio more posture and stretching) since the beginning of my pregnancy. I will be 35 weeks on Tuesday and it relieve my minor pains (hips, pelvic, lower back, buttocks and thighs). It also help to have a good posture and strengthen your core muscles for birth and baby position. It is great to take that time for you to relax. Sincerely, yoga is a revelation for me.
Avatar f tn if you do yoga classes please take the gentle yoga, or hatha beginners, you should not be doing any strenuous poses... more relaxation and restorative poses..i was also told to stay away from HOT YOGA, BIKRHAM, ASTANGA, ADVANCE YOGA CLASSES..
Avatar n tn Looking for a beginners (very beginner) prenatal yoga dvd. I want to stay healthy and active but not over do it. I'm newly pregnant but haven't worked out in a long time. Any suggestions?
649848 tn?1534633700 Well, Ranaesheart suggested the other day that I do a post about yoga, since I suggest it whenever someone new comes into the community, so I'm going to give it a shot. I must confess, I am definitely a novice with yoga myself, but I learn more as I go along. I know there are several different kinds of yoga, ranging from what I do, which is slow and deliberate to another type that is very physical. Each kind of yoga has its own name and no, I don't know them all.
Avatar f tn There are lots if YouTube videos to help you know what poses are safe. If you didnt exercise before yoga is still safe as long as you are careful with the poses. My mother in law did yoga religiously and her labor was 10 mins once she got to the hospital. It really helps me with the back pain now. Don't know what I would do without it.
Avatar m tn s important to have the right equipment to help you perform your poses with ease and safety. One of the most essential items in your yoga kit is a non-slip yoga mat, which can help prevent slips and falls and provide better stability during your practice. Additionally, a yoga stretching strap can be an invaluable tool for deepening your stretches and improving your flexibility.

Avatar f tn Ur body starts to produce a chemical called relaxin to soften joints so the baby can pass through. Some stretching will help. I do some yoga pregnancy poses-warrior pose, pigeon etc.
Avatar f tn Yoga and Pilates are amazing!!! Also sleeping with a snoogle helps immensely to take pressure off. I had horrible back pain with my first bc my tailbone went out of place in pregnancy. This time it started happening again and I immediately started my yoga/Pilates routine again and the pain went away the same day. I also had to start sleeping with my pregnancy pillow (snoogle) earlier this time. Thanks to those two things my pain is gone though.
Avatar f tn So officials are filming hundreds of yoga poses and translating ancient Sanscrit texts. They plan to send the results to patent offices around the world next month, the Washington Post reports. It's an outgrowth of a project called the Traditional Knowledge Digital Library, which was originally created to fight patents on traditional Indian medicine — like turmeric for wound healing, which received a U.S. patent that was later withdrawn after India objected.
Avatar f tn Talk to your instructor for modifications!
Avatar m tn I didn't do yoga but know that there are classes and videos directed at the pregnant woman to do it. I walked a lot and lifted light weights when pregnant.
Avatar n tn You can download apps to your phone, tablet, or even computer that has yoga videos for beginners. Good Luck and dont listen to your friends. Become healther for you not them. And BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!!!
Avatar m tn Can twisting the torso and holding it as in some yoga poses cause damage to the pylorus or any other organ that might result in gastroparesis? Also, has anyone been able to control gastroparesis by chewing longer to more thoroughly pulverize food?
382218 tn?1341181487 t discuss Yoga as a weight training modality, especially the standing poses, and arm balances (Crow, Crane, Peacock, etc.) Yoga can be quite intense, depending on ability and poses attempted. I had a Yoga teacher who had been practicing some 30 years before she had her first bone density scan at age 55. Her MD told her she had the bones of a 20 year old!
Avatar n tn Has anyone taken yoga during the 3rd trimester? This is my 3rd pregnancy and my last was with twins so my ligaments have stretched and it causes me so much pain. I was thinking maybe If I took a yoga class this may help. I would like to hear from those that are taking or have taken a class and if this has helped you throughout your pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I shared with this a co-worker who experienced the same problem and figured she was getting gas lodged in the wrong parts of her body so she did gas relieving yoga poses when she was in pain. Her body was more likely to get gas from carrots, hummus, and edamame so you'll need to determine what foods your body can process. Now, I make sure I do yoga poses that relieves gas before bed and eat at least 2 hours before bed.
Avatar f tn Hi do some yoga stretches will help.
Avatar f tn What has helped me is stretching. Doing yoga. Look online for pregnancy yoga poses or get a prenatal yoga DVD if you don't have time for a class. Also get a maternity support belt to wear during the day. It will really help.
4845170 tn?1369102292 I just started my third tri but since I found out I was pregnant I have done stretches as squats nearly every day, as the weather got warmer into my second I began to walk at least 3 times a week n started doing prenatal yoga for beginners but it makes me feel the best...I strongly suggest the yoga its great for repaxing n stretching and for a small amount of strengthening (if that's a word haha) I'm hoping all these things help when labor comes.
Avatar f tn I try and I do some of the poses and stretches buuut I don't know if it's because my uterus is getting bigger and is sitting right on that nerve but it hurts terribly. I mainly try the poses that pull my uterus off my spine (momentarily of course) but I'm just scared that I might be doing a pose unsafely... That's why I do the class... She modifies poses based on our individual week. My husband massages the area sometimes too.
Avatar f tn There is pregnancy poses as an alternative to a lot of the yoga poses that we should be extra cautious about. Look it up on the web. If you feel any discomfort at any time, take the child's pose, even though the others are doing something else.
Avatar f tn Exercise helps a lot with lower back pain. I walk a lot and also do yoga. Don't let your muscles stiffen, standing up all day doesn't help with that! You can google prenatal yoga and will find tons of web sites with poses for pregnant women.
