Avatar f tn I was told i have rotator cuff tendonitis with impidgement but what no one can figure out is why my shoulder bruises and swells every once in a while. Its very painful when it happens. I have done all the traditional things to fix it like PT, cort. shots, and accupuncture. My orthro dr doesnt think i need surgery yet and says it can do more harm than good. Please help as i have no idea what to do now.
Avatar f tn What about a Suprascapular Nerve pinch?Any rotator cuff injurys that also caused chest pain?I really feel like it is a physical problem and not a mental one.Any helpful ideas on what it could be.
Avatar f tn This sounds like a rotator cuff injury. Rotator cuff tear of the shoulder causes pain and weakness at the joint. Complete rotator cuff tear results in inability to raise the arm away from the side under your own strength. This is usually injured due to excessive force like trying to catch a falling heavy object or lifting an extremely heavy object with an extended arm. Consult an orthopaedic surgeon for evaluation.
Avatar m tn Shoulder impingement syndrome is a result of damage to rotator cuff. Rotator cuff is the muscles and tendons around the shoulder joint which enable the arm to move in all directions. This can occur in sports persons like in swimming, golf, over head arm movements and in rheumatoid arthritis. It is difficult to say what it is until physical examination and x-rays are seen. It could be dislocation or a fracture or rotator cuff injury. Consult a orthopedician for further assistance. Best.

Avatar f tn Rotator cuff: Focal bursal surface tear at the footprint of the supraspinatus measuring 0.9 can in AP dimension and involving less than 50% of the tendon thickness. There is mild underlying tendinopathy of the supraspinatus. Labrum: question of increased T2 signal along the posterior inferior labrum seen on single view only which may represent underlying tear. Acromioclavicular joint: The AC joint is in normal configuration. Os acromiale is noted with minimal associated osseous edema.

Avatar m tn the scapula (shoulder blade), the humerus (upper arm bone), and the clavicle (collarbone). The rotator cuff connects the humerus to the scapula. The rotator cuff is formed by the tendons of four separate muscles: the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis. These muscles raise and rotate the arm by pulling on the tendons. As the arm is raised, the rotator cuff keeps the humerus bone tightly in the socket of the scapula.
Avatar f tn I am experiencing pain in my left arm. I am right arm dominant. The pain is mostly muscular and affects every muscle from the bottom of the shoulder to the wrist. It is not appear to be rotator cuff as the pain is not in my shoulder, I have no problem sleeping on it and can raise my arm easily over my head. Because I see a neurosurgeon for a small brain lesion, test have been performed, and it is not neurological. The pain is most severe when trying to carry anything with a bent arm....

Avatar f tn I was mowing with a riding mower I heard and felt a load pop. Ihave been told its not a torn rotator cuff, its just a strain. I still have constant pain in my shoulder and I found a bruise on my shoulder it looks like it is going away but it looks like it covered all of my shoulder. What does this sound like? And what if anything can be done?
Avatar f tn I am 75 and last year had surgery for massive rotator cuff repairs due to a fall on my right shoulder. It has taken a year for recovery. I have full range of motion but weakness on over the head movement. Meanwhile I fell again on the left shoulder. I had two injections which helped briefly. The MRI shows massive retracted rotator cuff tendons. My choices are biological repair or reverse replacement. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I am 45, female. About 3 weeks ago I started havinbg intense 'deep" pain in my right shoulder - my rotator cuff, I believe. It was very painful at times. It would ease up, I'd do light yoga, it would hurt again. Now I am experiencing pins and needles - not nu bness but more the prickling of pins and needles - in my right hand. Usually it comes when i have my right arm outstretched - about to take something off a shelf, reaching forward to a keyboard... What's going on?
755109 tn?1234238837 Most of the answers to your questions will depend on the specifics of your injury; torn rotator cuff injuries can range from small tears that can yield complete recovery, to large tears that cause chronic disability. Steroid injections will not heal a torn rotator cuff, but they reduce inflammation and pain, although the pain can get worse for a day or two after the injection before eventually improving.
Avatar m tn Your symptoms of not able to raise your arm above your level of shoulder on left side suggest that this might be due to biceps tendonitis, rotator cuff tendonitis, or rotator cuff calcific tendonitis. Does your shoulder ever give way? Did your shoulder previously have pain, but is now only stiff? How long have you had your shoulder pain and have you tried anything to help it? I think your symptoms are suggestive of rotator cuff injuries.
Avatar f tn Received a call from my latest surgeon informing me, (after a bone scan and an MRI last week) that I do INDEED have a torn rotator cuff. To make a long story short, went to family physician 2 years ago and was told that I just had bad arthritis in my shoulder. He treated me with steroid shots (more painful than childbirth.LOL) for a few times. Then he decided I had something more serious than arthritis and recommedned I go to an orthopedic surgeon, which I did.
Avatar m tn m sorry to read that your Rotator Cuff is problematic again. We all know how pain, especially when chronic can disrupt our lives. Rotator Cuff repair surgery can sometimes be iffy. There are a lot of factors that come into play. Success often depends on the severity of the tear, the surgeon preforming it and what degree of activity your lifestyle demands from your shoulder. Rotator cuff repair surgery for a tear from a sudden injury works best if it is done within a few weeks of the injury.
Avatar m tn Looking for advice in regards to my rotator cuff. I had a slow onset(appx 2 weeks)of shoulder pain that eventually led to a lot of pain and inability to elevate my arm above shoulder height. MRI shows supraspinatus partial tear and a labrum tear. 6 sessions of PT have not helped. My question is what has worked best for those with similar injuries. Cortisone? Arthroscopy? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn can shoulder bursitis be cured? Had 3rd rotator cuff surgery and report says I have massive irratative bursitis. what exactly is that? Is it like arthritis?
