I would say to try the pill out for a few months, like 3 UNLESS your symptoms get worse. The body needs time to adjust to any bcp and 3 months is the normal. I'm on Yasmin too and never had any problems with it. Yasmin is one of the top bcp that is given to woman with pcos because most woman can tolerate it better then other bcp. The only thing I've found while taking Yasmin (and I think this goes for ALL bcp) it raises my blood pressure a little.
Metformin and some type of birth control pill are normally the treatments of pcos. I've had pcos since (and maybe longer) 2007 and have been on metformin 500mg 2x since Jan of this year, plus I'm on Yasmin bc pills. Yasmin, like luisa24 said is the best form of bc pills for pcos. It also helps great if you suffer from mild acne breakouts.
To answer your question about the side affects after you stopped treatment, well that i cannot answer.

I am new to this forum. I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 19. I'll be 33 next month. I've suffered from severe acne, cysts, abnormal periods and major mood swings. I've had 3 laproscopies and I've been on Yasmin for over 8 years. I have to say, of the 5 or 6 different bc pills I've taken, I found Yasmin to be the best. It really curbed my acne a great deal. Also, I had no cysts. On some of the other bc pills, I still developed cystic ovaries.
I took Yasmin for 5 years I was diagnosed with PCOS about 7 years ago.. I have been off for almost 2 years trying to concieve. Yasmin does help..my face was completely clear and had no hair growth.. since being off my acne has just gotten worse each month. Give it a try..it took a few months but it got extremely clear.
I am a 34 year old woman. I have never had a problem with acne or any type of pimples on my face, however, after the birth of my third child 2 years ago I have bad skin. My face is constantly greasy and I get white heads all over my fourhead and chin constantly. I also have a wierd rash like bumps all over my fourhead that will not go away. My physician put me on three differenty types of antibiotics, retin A and nothing has even come close to clearing it up.

I don't respond well to lotions and I seem to break out (acne) due to hormones and stress. I'm on Yasmin, which for the most part has been fine. Can anyone recommend an alternative to taking the birth control pill to help hormonal/stress-related acne?
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with endo 6 months back and was operated on immediately. The gyne later commented i had stage 4 endo which was very sever at my age (I'm 26 this year). Subsequently, i was given Decapeptyl for 3 consecutive months, stopped for 3 months and now starting to take Yasmin..I've read about the side effects of Yasmin but there seems to be few people taking Yasmin to help with endometriosis..can anyone advise?
I have PCOS and have been on Yasmin BCP for like 6 years to control my PCOS symptoms. The reproductive endocrinologist told me Yasmin is the gold standard for PCOS patients because the drospirenone works best in mitigating the symptoms of high testosterone like acne and hair growth.
Well my gyn nurse practitioner called and I guess there is new evidence out that Yasmin is causing causes more blood clots than other BCPs, and this is a risk that increases as you get older.
I just started Yasmin for acne, having previously taken Microgynon with no issues. I've only taken Yasmin for about 2 weeks, but I've noticed it seems to be really affecting me. I feel so fatigued, low, lacking motivation and just generally flat. So strange.
Any reason why your doctor didn't put you on meds? I take metformin and yasmin birth control to regulate my period. You have to go back to your doctor for treatment. You cannot let pcos go untreated.
Hi. Oral antibiotics are widely prescribed for acne. It is unlikely this medicine has damaged your liver, but ask your doctor for a liver function test if you are concerned.
Alternative treatments include topical retinoids such as Differin, topical antibiotics such as Duac, or oral tetracyclines such as Oxytetracycline. Discuss these with your doctor. You don't state your gender, but female acne patients will benefit from taking an anti-androgen contraceptive pill such as Yasmin or Diane35.
I'm at the age when I should not even have this problem, in fact I never did before, but lately I've been experiencing acne on my face. Anyone knows about good birth control pill as far as skin is concerned? I have tried many already, but they don't seem to work...

i have pcos and my OB and DERMATOLOGIST suggested that i take yasmin coz i have acne in my face and back and probably because of hormonal imbalance. i never wanted to take pills because of the side effects. its my 1OTH DAY of taking the pills. no drastic improvement with my acne yet. im quite sleepy lately, i dont know if this is one of the effects of the pill. anyway, my greatest concern is that after i stopped taking the pill after 6 months, im afraid of acne breakouts.
I have been taking Yaz for about 4 months now. I am almost ready to go to the doctor for my depression and anxiety. Then, I started researching my pill (Yaz) and have found that these symptoms are likely related to this pill. I want to stop taking it and my husband is in support of that. However, I have read about terrible side effects from people that stopped, too. Anyone have experiences to share?
I take Yasmin. I think its one of the best ones out there. It isn't as strong as some of the others out there. Also if she has any acne, Yasmin will clear it all up. I started it last year, and never had a problem with it. No breakthrough bleeding and I get my period on the 6th or 7th inactive pill. My only bad expierence with it was the first month I was on it. I got extreme emotional when I started the inactive pill week, but it got better over the months.
When I started taking Yasmin all those problems went away but I also got worried because of the many unhealthy side effects of contraceptive pills. My question is: If I get an IUD, will it be able to control all my hormonal problems? Can I have an IUD and also take an anti-androgen or something like that?
I've been on Yasmin for a little over a year now...and I love it. I did have a problem the first month taking it though, it was the week of inactive pills and I got extreme emotional. But after that my body got use to it, and never had a problem again. I never had breakthorugh bleeding, my periods last about 3-4 days. No bad oder, or yeast infections (i did get a yeast infection this year, but it was from an antibiotic i was on). Yasmin also helps with acne too.
The excess hair on the face can be reduced by the laser hair removal...however, I do not think any insurance will cover the cost of it seeing they have it listed under "cosmetic". I've heard of hair removal creams I think it's called Vanic (sp?). That can be given by a dermotolgist. Metformin should help, it's one of the most common given medications for those who have PCOS. I take that along with Yasmin bc.

s brother and his gf are having a baby too, also one of my good friends from high school recently had a baby so maybe this is just baby fever for me, lol. I am just curious because i have been on yasmin for about 4 months and after the first month my acne cleared up completely. for the first month and half i had diarhea but that cleared up.
